I liked the album, quite soothing with a tone similar to that of Paul Simon. The music to Mars reminded me of a horror film back track.

Having a lazy Sunday and catching up on a bunch of free CDs from various magazines. I'm now stuck on the Joachim Cooder album Over That Road I'm Bound after hearing a track from the Songlines freebie, Top Of The World #162.

It's just perfect as the sun flares through my dirty windows and warms my bare feet. Tea & toast, warmed toes and music making me forget and dream. Cheers.

Don't know how i'd never heard it before, but I think this may be the greatest song of all time (sort of joking, sort of not joking):

Which reminds me: one of the loudest bands I ever heard was Steve Marriott's Packet of Three. Half Moon Putney - early/mid-80s.

Mind you it's the only reason I clicked and watched, I mean, listened to the song.

I saw John Martyn live in a chapel about 25 years ago. He came on dressed as a priest, was pissed as a fart, and was absolutely superb.

Jimmy young was the first of 4 people to have a UK no 1. With Unchained Melody. The only song to have done so with 4 distinct artists (as opposed to Band Aid which was organised by the same people each time).

When just about to enter the teenage wilderness I persuaded by older sister to buy both Use Your Illusion albums on tape from the former Our Price store in Watford. Not a bad track on either album and always listen to them once in a while. Matt Sorum had come in as drummer along with varied musical influences and plenty of piano. Not to mention some great riffs as on Locomotive and long ballads like November Rain and Coma and the most touching Civil War. A shame what happened to the band as they were at the height of their powers.

Rediscovered Saint Etienne recently. Very different from my punky roots but simple, sublime, bright & breezy pop/dance rhythms from the 90s. Listening to them always cheers me up!

Feeling pretty low at the moment what with covid, Brexit and the lack of a natural left-back seemingly spoken about wherever I go. So, despite the chill I decided to take myself off to church for the first time in, like, forever and met some lovely people. Very friendly, a bit touchy-feely and possibly not quite able to focus on anything in this realm but they seemed alright so will pop in to say hello again tomorrow. I've a good feeling about this gathering.

New Order make themselves known to a new generation through the medium of film. A terrible one to be sure although GG is magnificent and a third film is being planned.

I feel like you should come on here and recommend something ‘cool’ or a bit obscure. For example, David Berman, the singer from Silver Jews has started a new band called Purple Mountains and their debut album is brilliant. Fantastic alternative/country album with Berman’s usual self depreciating humour in the lyrics. I met failure in Australia, I fell ill in Illinois, I nearly lost my genitalia to ant hill in Des Moines.

My go to at the minute though? The new Kylie album. **** me its genuinely fantastic.

I'm sure you guys are just making these names up. I've heard that Stew and the Dumplings are a fine band. Formed when Kylie Donovan left the Fine Young Cannonballs and joined up with drummer Comfy Powell who'd just left the recently disbanded Pale Purple.

Kings of Leon's new album has a few good tracks on it inc "The bandit". Interesting that as a very US sounding band, they have barely scratched the charts in the US - "Sex on Fire" didn't even make the top 50 there.
