Ive just seen the watford observer are reporting that there has been a covid outbreak within the bristol city camp. They have shut their training ground which will be reopened on thursday but there is the potential for our game next wednesday (live on sky) to be called off.

I have seen games called off on the afternoon of the game so might be a late call.

They have had sixteen positive tests I read, players and staff.
A lot will depend on the testing on Thursday I suppose.

Well first of all I hope everyone is OK. Secondly from an extremely selfish point of view, if the game goes ahead, it could be a great time to play them if they won't have trained for a while

(In all seriousness, hopefully nobody is adversely affected by the outbreak and they all recover swiftly).

Or if they only field 8 players.

Still not sure we'd manage an away win, mind.

Comfortable 0-0 with 70% possession and 63 crosses though, a moral win in anyone's book.

Yes but we only need to have King Ken to guarantee the victory.

Is this why we couldn't beat Reading?

King Ken wasn't prepared to hurt fellow Royals?

    Hope they are all well.

Does anyone know the rules/responsibilities set out for this kind of thing? I assume the game will simply be postponed and that there isn't any responsibility for clubs to keep their players COVID-free? If the latter is true I assume Bristol forfeit. That's the only way we will get another away win this season.

Let's assume they have no more outbreaks, are those that are currently self isolating or have the virus going to be available for this weekend or our mid-week match? Or will they still be in isolation. Is it 7, 10 or 2 weeks isolation and when was the start date?

When Leyton Orient had the same incident, Spurs got a free bye in the league cup. This being an actual league fixture, postponement is the likely outcome if it needs to happen.

Even if both games for BC fo go ahead, I would be very wary for any of Derby's and Watford's players.

If its within 10 days of the game I doubt it is happening.
If they bring covid it will kill off Murray and all the others in the old folks home he lives in, cant take the risk

Bristol Live has a summary article on it, with some suggestions that the overall media attention is an over reaction.

If there was 'a number' of cases on the 9th and 10th, then it's already been a week. I reckon their games will go ahead as isolation seems to be 10 days.

I am surprised that clubs/EFL are only now testing players, and only if they are showing symptoms or returning from Intl. duty. Given all we know about asymptomatic transmission, this seems a low level of effort given that everyone outside of elite sport is in lockdown.

Their game against Derby is expected to go ahead on Saturday, so ours likely will be happening as well.

    According to the Bristol Post:

"One national headline used the word ‘disarray’ but I think that’s a little strong. Certainly it’s not ideal that the training ground is closed this week but there is still the disruption of international week.

The club hopes to have everyone back training on Thursday and Friday before facing manager-less Derby on Saturday."

Surely they have youth players who can be drafted into the first team squad? Why should the game be postponed just because some players are ill? We didn't postpone games while deulofeu was injured. What's the difference?

  30. The undeniable truth

It should be postponed because it will be far more embarrassing for us to be beaten by a bunch of kids and sickies and the hit to morale could derail the whole HMSP1sstheleague project.

Be interesting to see what happens if there's an outbreak of Covid with us and we have to play the kids. Can we clone Dan Phillips 19 times? Be hilarious seeing a team of Phillipses! :D

We'd only see 11 of them on the pitch together for about 10 minutes before they all start getting sent off.

Even better idea, clone Murray 10 ten times. Wonder how far up the pitch they might get before fatigue kicked in?
