    If the season was to finish now, who in the current squad would you keep for the following season in the Premier League? My view was that the last window was good, but also aware it’ll take a few windows to sort out the overhyped and toxic squad that was in place. I’m not sure we have too many you’d want to take with you to the Premier League;

    Pedro
    Sarr
    Hughes
    Ngakia
    Sema

I would still say Foster has another Premiership season in him. Bachmann isn't ready for top flight football, and the GK area would need looking into.

Dele Bashiu and Troost are two others.

Starting: Sarr, Pedro, Ngakia, Hughes, Ekong, Capoue, Sema
Squad players: Kabasele, Wilmot, Perica(?), Dele-Bashiru(?)

I'd also like to see Dahlberg and maybe Cucho introduced. Possibly get Garner back, too. Haven't given up hope on Quina, either. I've put question marks on Perica an TDB as I've liked what I've seen so far but they haven't fully proven themselves yet.

I think we've got the makings of a decent young side but we'd definitely need to invest in the right areas if we went up.

Start of next season Cucho will be 22 with 3 years of La Liga experience under his belt. I'm sure he will be ready for the prem.

Dele-Bashiru has less than 10 senior games under his belt, such a shame he got such a serious injury because he could have really flourished and really come to the fore. As it is, he might have a cameo role to play this season, but if we do go up, I don't know if he'd be our first choice

When is Dahlberg coming back to us? There will be a time very soon when Foster will be over the hill (he's still very good but I definitely don't think the Foster we've seen since the start of last season is as good as the version we saw in his first season back at us), we should be thinking of how to replace him

Foster- as I say, definitely think about replacing him if we go up, but let him and Dahlberg battle it out if he's back with us
Ngakia- quite possibly already Prem level, next season could be some player
WTE-If we signed him in the Prem, he'd probably have had a much more mixed reception, as it is, he's our best defender, but not without fault
Wilmot- decent Championship level at the moment, will he get the games to really progress this season?
Cleverley- should really be a backup when we have everyone fit, a nice option to have at this level, would be lost at Prem level
    Deeney- ditto Cleverley
JP- not saying he would have been our saviour or anything, but we would have all liked to have seen him more last season. A good start this season even though we're rarely playing to his strengths, would be exciting to see what he could do in the Prem
Sema- Never looked amazing in the Prem, but has made an outstanding start in the Championship, so good that it makes you think he could definitely do it in the top flight
Chalobah- ditto Cleverley and Deeney, except there might be a little bit more hope for him given his age
Cathcart- probably a first teamer now, but none of us would want him to be in the Prem
Garner- based on what we've seen of him so far, I'd be up for us taking him back if we go up, decent start and surely can only get better
    Murray- lol
Gray- decent at this level, rarely played to his strengths in the Prem, when we did, he was decent but not outstanding
    Hughes- protect at all costs
Quina- really thought this would be his year, not really happened for him so far
Femenia- good going forward, awful defender, and not getting any younger. Fine for this level, but in the Prem, he gets exposed a lot more
    Success- lol
Sarr- protect at all costs, been decent so far in an unfamiliar position against defences that generally lie a lot deeper than in the Prem, needless to say gets a lot more freedom in the Prem
    TDB- said my bit above
Perica- not seen an awful lot of him, from what I've seen, I like him, but Premier League might be a stretch
Bachmann- if we get Dahlberg back, I suspect that would be Bachmann off
    Kabasele- ditto Cathcart
Capoue- when he wants to be, an absolute cut above the Championship. Very good in the Prem too, and I wouldn't even be that worried about his age because he's not exactly all-action
    Sierralta- um, backup level probably?
    Navarro- lol
    Parkes- 3rd choice keeper again?

Of the loanees, I'd want Geri, Cucho and Dahlberg back, the others can go for all I care

We'd need a major overhaul if we went up.

Foster, Ngakia, WTE, Capoue, Hughes & Sarr are Premier League standard. The rest are either youngsters who may step up or older Championship level players.

Hopefully Geri would come back to us if we go up, but there are so many areas where we lack real quality.

Left back, centre back, midfield, left wing & central striker are all areas we would have to improve on in order to stay up.

Yeah, plus Geri to potentially come back should we go up (thus far he's only said he doesn't want to play in the Championship, hasn't closed the door on a return to us if we go up). We'd definitely need someone to play with WTE at least if we go up, a left-back and a striker for sure, and possibly some extra quality depth in midfield, but of course, first things first, actually get there first! Long way to go yet!

Don’t have to worry about a premier league centre back as Dawson would return after a valuable season with Moyes and would be like a new signing

    Probable PL Starters (not many):
    Foster
    Capoue
    Sarr
    Deulofeu (if 4-3-3)

    Possible PL Starters:
    WTE (early days),
Hughes (was good for a bit last season, but also terrible at times, we wold ideally do with more legs next to an ageing Capoue in CM I think)
    Sema (if we play wing-backs)
Cucho (if we play 4-3-3 with him on the left and depending on Geri)

    PL Squad/Rotation Options:
Kabs (bar that one stray pass has been the best CB out of him, Cathcart and Wilmot)
Kiko (useful if we need an attacking RB/RWB option)
Ngakia (as a RB, not good enough attacking for a PL wing-back, can't nail a spot in the Champ yet either)
Perica (reckon he's appeared the best of our CFs so far, hopefully he can stay on the pitch)
JP (not ready to be a regular starter in the Champ still, won't be ready to be a regular starter in the PL should we get promoted next season either)
Gray (depends on how he does this season really)

Last time we got promoted we signed about 15 new players! While spending about £70mil. We'd likely need to sign about 7 players good enough to be starters again. Whether we'd actually splash out what it would take to do that is another question.

Disagree with you on JP, it's not that he's not good enough to start for us in the Championship, it's that the system doesn't normally suit him. All told he's done well this season, despite having to feed off scraps on occasions

He's done well in some of the games, but he's also been one of our worst players in others. He's just not ready to be a first choice starter for the majority of matches. Often his lack of involvement in games is less that he's "having to feed off scraps" and more because in some games he's too sluggish to react and second to many balls which get sent his way.

As for the system, if we switch to the 4-3-3 which would suit him better if we get promoted, then he may well still have Delboy and Cucho ahead of him for his favoured position anyway.

Foster is at an age where his skills will decline sooner rather than later so it's difficult to know if he will be good enough next season.
JN will thrive in the PL next season and I hope it is with us.
    WTE-possibly
    Hughes-definitely
    King Ken-no doubt:)
    Sarr
Pedro-Offers of 30+M will be arriving within the next 12 months.
TDB and Quina-Quina needs to start showing more and guarantee a place this season. but we all know he has ability.
Same with Tom and let's hope he returns in fine form.
Gerry is a certainty and I hope he is back here next year.
No one else springs to mind and yes I include Capoue in that.

I'm sure there are at least a couple of premier league standard players that we will be able to sell to premier league teams at the end of the season. Sarr obviously, Geri if he wanted to come back, and Norwich & Muff would probably be prepared to take Hughes and maybe Pedro as they strengthen for their return to the prem.

He's only made 9 PL starts, to be fair. Never really got a decent run in the team. Since then he's made 30 starts in Serie A and did very well, by all accounts. Maybe he's improved?

There may be coming a sunny Spring afternoon in May where 10,000 vaccinated Watford fans pile into the Government mandated 50% capacity Vicarage Road to watch promotion clinched.

After that day I'll consider which of our squad will be assets in the PL.

Wasn't that the crux of the problem with our squad last season, pretty much all of them were good enough for rotation but not enough for a regular starting slot. Had we not gone down last season I think that it was only a matter of time before the situation caught up with us.

Front 4 of Sarr, Pedro, Del Boy and new CF would be tasty.

    Capoue and Hughes CM.

    Defence would need an overhaul.
