    Fair enough.

Currently, it takes a lot for me to stick up for those running the club and I’m not about to do so here - I think they conducted themselves disgracefully in how they dealt with his sacking.

That said, I just fail to believe Pearson wasn’t locked out of the training ground without cause (to the clubs mind anyway) and given no reasoning for his dismissal. He’s a complex character as we all know and while perhaps nothing untoward did happen that night, I also wouldn’t expect him to come forward and say anything to the contrary that would harm his reputation or chances of future employment either.

I just find it easier to believe something big happened that gave the club no option - or something minor which allowed the club to pull the trigger on something they wanted to do anyway. But not nothing at all as he claims.

He only managed a handful of games and made a mess of most of them.

I just don’t believe the club thought that sacking Pearson and letting a coach run the team would give us a better chance of staying up, particularly when the last two games were against Man City and Arsenal. But that was the way it was reported in the media and it only damaged the reputation of the owners and, by extension, the club.

It stands to reason the absolute best thing for Pearson to do is plead ignorance as to why he was sacked. He also slightly contradicts himself by saying he had no warning but then saying there were a few things leading up to it in the previous few days.

He got sacked from Derby because of a bust up with the owner. He objected to his training sessions being filmed by drone.

Quite why he would have an issue with his boss and the owner of the organisation monitoring his work is beyond me, either way there is a very recent precedent for him getting sacked for disagreeing with the owner of a club.

Hardly a stretch given all the evidence to suggest it might have happened again.

I totally agree, although NP had got us to where we were, on paper it was extremely unlikely we were going to get anything in our last two games no matter who the coach was, the damage was done in the away games after lockdown where we didn’t pick up a single point, Burnley, and West Ham were very poor performances also add the home match to Southampton to that list! Although we had done well to be in touching distance another huge factor we didn’t stay up was the sudden unexpected from of both Aston Villa and Bournemouth especially Villa. Had we not lost the Villa away game we should have been home and dry!

I personally don't disbelieve that he might have butted heads figuratively with Gino and Giraldi. He should be lauded for doing so if he did.

It's this suggestion and innuendo that he chinned someone or did some otherwise, massive crime that I find a bit tenuous.

I think it's perfectly plausible that Nige was given some flannel by Giraldi or Pozzo and got a typically Frank response about the state of our transfer activity. Of course now I'm guilty if speculation here, but without the smoking gun of some real act of violence or racism that was initially suggested, it seems to me that the most likely explanation is our owner's overreaction and typical cack handedness regarding management.

I doubt Pearson would have even spoken about the way he was sacked if any of those rumours were true.

I don’t necessarily buy in to the head butting or racism stuff either, it could’ve easily been something as simple as a heated argument.

What I have a problem with is the idea that it was done purely for footballing reasons and/or because simply our owners are clueless etc etc.

Pearson is a volatile character with a repeated history of losing his temper in pretty much every job he’s had.

The fact that it happened at Derby and that Giraldi was the one that fired him, he didn’t have a problem with him and in fact still keeps in touch with him even now, is pretty clear evidence the falling out was directly between Pearson and Gino. We’ll probably never know what it was about or how serious it probably was though.

It was pretty clear to all of us that Pearson was making some very odd decisions, like sticking with Troy and not starting Welbeck. I can’t imagine he would’ve taken too kindly to Gino pointing out exactly what we were all pointing out at the time.

All of this 'so-called' evidence is heavily outweighed by evidence of our owners being trigger-happy. Let's not kid ourselves. It doesn't look great from the club.

Yes, trigger happy for footballing reasons. Silva was only sacked after we went 10 games without a win, after turning down what would’ve been financial compensation in our direction if we’d let him leave like he wanted to.

Very true but it gives people a chance to say he would have kept us up....

We would have had to beaten Arsenal which was no more likely under Pearson than Mullins whilst we could have Klopp in charge v Man City and still lose badly.

Ben Foster pretty much admitted we gave up and were just playing to hang on.

This is my view as well. I guess we will never know what really happened. The 'people running the club conducted themselves disgracefully' line only sticks if you believe Pearson's version of events that he had no idea as to why he was sacked.

I know what you mean - but the club is a business/organisation that should be above that kind of behaviour, regardless of what came before. If Pearson did something worthy of gross misconduct, you sit him down in your office the next day and as owner (or Duxbury as chairman), explain as such and sack him. Then release a statement saying as much and wish him the best going forward.

Regardless of what happened, unless he did something criminal (which I highly doubt, mainly because he’d be stupid now to be claiming ignorance of the reasons), then there is no excuse for security being told to stop him entering the training ground and then to be sacked over the phone by the Technical Director. I think the club did act disgracefully in how they went about it.

Same ones bemoaning Gino's trigger happy nature, also wanting Ivic sacked after 8 games. Interesting.

Being sacked over the phone has happened at other clubs. So that bit don't completely surprise me. Also, in his version he says he wasn't allowed into the ground and then was sacked. There is also the possibility that he was sacked on the phone, not accepted it too well or at all , wanted to go to the ground to have a word, and wasn't allowed in.

I noticed there were certainly less comment on the WO site after the game on Wednesday compared to previous games!

Thank goodness we had the ref on our side eh.

Yes that is true - unfortunately the way some seem to go.

I get that the locked out of the training ground bit would’ve been a clue to Pearson, but he also suggests the same of the missed call from Giraldi. There is absolutely no reason a missed call from Giraldi would mean anything, especially as he went on to say they still keep in touch and he’d spoken to him only a few days ago. He also talks of being locked out of the training ground but also of not being let in by security which are two different things. If security weren’t letting him in then he wouldn’t have just had a hunch he was getting sacked, he’d know for definite.

Just because it has happened the odd time at another club, that doesn’t make it right. It’s still unbecoming of a decent organisation to do that. I’m not talking about being ‘surprised’ that’s what we did - frankly I’m not surprised by it. But it looks terribly unprofessional and underhand.

As for the second part - surely there’s no point in twisting and turning the story to suit? He said he couldn’t get into the training ground and was then sacked over the phone. No point trying to reverse that comment just to support a different narrative.

Personally think it’s a shame we’ve heard this after the fans forum thing - certainly would have allowed for a deeper question of Duxbury, not that he would have bothered furthering his answer.

There are usually two sides to a story of which one can differ to another. Sometimes sackings are amicable, sometimes not.

Theories arise, but I think I will stick to my original narrative which is "I guess we will never know what really happened".

There are 2 sides to every story - and the club have declined at every turn to give theirs, which in itself is hardly a great defence of their actions.

Silva example isn't the best, let's be honest. What evidence is there that Pearson did something so out of order? I may be wrong, but all I've heard is rumours.

If you are referring to me, then I don't think Ivic should be sacked. I lay the blame with Gino, Dux and the Fatman in both instances, as many others do.

Obviously there is no physical evidence, I haven’t got a CCTV recording I can send you unfortunately. The evidence is the numerous different factors that have been discussed to death already.

If you prefer to believe we just randomly locked NP out the training ground and replaced him with the U23 coach with two games to go for no reason, then of course that is completely your prerogative.

You also suggested replacing him with Jokanovic. Apologies if I've misunderstood!

Odd thing I find about Nige is that when asked yesterday if he was up for work he sort of skirted round the question, then said something along the lines of it being insensitive as it’s just the time that managers come under pressure and start to lose their jobs.

Yet here he is putting himself across every media outlet going, clearly putting himself in the spotlight for work.

Was more pointing to the likelihood Gino will pull the trigger at some point in the near future. I think Ivic has been royally stitched up with squad he's inherited.

However, I would expect him to give another system (plan B) a chance at some point. He did allude to potentially changing things after the international break iirc. I think he needs the chance to see if he can do that.

If he fails to address these issues, then I think the Joka would be a good appointment.

  30. In what way has Ivic been stitched up? He has a squad as good as anything in the championship now most of the injured are back or close to being back.

So you’re saying NP is a liar, then? Guess that’s ”your prerogative” too. Doesn’t mean we all believe it.

What evidence do we actually have that he is lying? Are these “numerous factors” any more than rumour or hearsay?

Ha yes I should think everyone was!

Nigel just suggested that normally he is quite calm and composed but that night was very annoyed/angry.

Then did say he saw Pozzos and Duxbury after afterwards and all seemed well.

Said something about the players had fear and weren’t comfortable about the games remaining.

Well Nige also said that he had no problem with Giraldi, he still keeps in touch with him and spoke to him only a few days ago.

So are we going believe that as well, or continue to use Giraldi as a scapegoat for all the clubs ills? Or just pick and choose the bits of what NP said that we personally want to believe?
