I will clap all the louder when we storm the league without artificial help from points deductions.

Not a fitting punishment; unless they're awarded against Bournemouth or Luton.

 

10 games in and looking at my prediction of needing 20 points to be on track to be automatic promotion, I would say we are slightly below par.
We will have a dip in form that means we struggle to pick up points so at moment I would say we would be in playoff places (pushing for 2nd) by end of season.
I would have taken that as start.

Plus points in 1st 10 games: Pedro, Foster, Sema, Kiko, Sarr
Negatives in 1st ten games: Chalobah's lack of improvement after playing almost all the minutes available. (is he now a busted flush) ;
Murray. send him back to Brighton
Lack of movement from players to make themselves available.
Not being able to go to games

 

Perhaps last week was our dip. We can but hope.

Looking at the games this season we've had:

Vs current top 12 - Played 5 W 3 D 1 L 1
Vs current bottom 12 - Played 5 W 2 D 2 L 1

A bit strange that our record is better against the top 12 than the bottom so far.

Tindall seems to be more of a belts and braces type of manager whose main role was to train the squad in diving, referee harassing, and other dark arts.

Just goes to show that all fanbases have their fans who look at things in more depth and others who are wrong.

 

I'm not sure we can look into that too deeply, it is only 10 games after all, and I'd say more than anything there's a handful of teams who are on paper head and shoulders above the rest, some obvious strugglers, but also a very large group of teams in the middle who are of similar quality. Middlesbrough are currently flying, but were they really much better than Derby who are doing really badly at the moment? Not even sure styles of play come into it that much, ironically Barnsley down the bottom were one of the more open teams we've played, there were gaps there to be exploited, we just couldn't take advantage. Blackburn were incredibly open too, no surprise that we ripped them apart

They'll probably beat our total on the last day of the season by one.

 

We can all see what is going to happen can't we ? We finish 3rd after slipping up in the last 2 games, 0-1 to Brentford and Swansea. L**** sneak into the play-offs in 6th place and beat us 1-0 on aggregate in the play-offs.
We sell Sarr and Pedro to CP for £5m to get them off the payroll and take up the option to sign Murray on a permanent deal.

 

Bristol City win again, against Cardiff, is that good for us? Cardiff you'd expect to be dark horses, Bristol City punching above their weight so far

Cardiff looked unlikely to score from what I saw.

 

Middlesbrough have only lost one game this season, on the first day. Some pre season previews I read/heard had them down as possible candidates for promotion.

Later in the season we may look back on the first day as a great result to have got, and not just 'cos it's 3 points.

 

The Derby thing I find very odd, he bid £2bn for Liverpool, he obviously wants a football club but doesn’t really care which one, initially he just went for the best one he could to make it as easy as possible. Then Newcastle kind of makes sense, big fan base, etc. Obviously that was blocked so he had to go outside the PL, then lands on Derby. Ok, I know they’re a bigish club historically, but they’re northern, unfashionable, been in the championship for years.

It just seems totally arbitrary to me. If I was a billionaire Sheikh I’d go for a London club at least.

 

What's been happening with them since? Have they had any new players/players returning from injury since then? They looked very ordinary that day (we were only a little better), was that just because we were solid at least? Opening day rust? The Warnock effect? Or maybe just that the Championship is a very ordinary division?

 

The form of everybody in the Championship is very shaky, isn't it? But I think it would be unwise to ignore the Warnock effect: He has a teensy bit more coaching experience (and success) at this level than just about anybody else in the World. Probably more than all the other Champ coaches put together, in fact. Doesn't matter if you love him or loathe him.
