I prefer the more culturally sensitive work of Milligan:

I used to love 'Mind your Language'. I probably used to watch it with my 'Rock against Racism' badge on. You don't always put two and two together at 14.

It did have some terrible stereotypes. I mean look at the white middle class bloke teaching it. Overly polite, sexually repressed, always dressed in corduroy. Leave us Brits alone!

Some great shows, but I’m not sure why you feel there won’t be any in the future. Detectorists is as good as any of those and This Country was great too. Both recent.

If anybody remembers Monkey (a kind of low brow Water Margin, Japanese Tv show based on Chinese book , think 70s Kung fun series set in the distant past) they have made a new version, I think it’s Australian, it’s seems ok so far, kind of nostalgic , bit cheesy but captures the spirit of the original

‘The Queen’s Gambit’ on Netflix is very good. Episode one is a bit grim, but the second really takes off. It’s a very interesting idea following an orphan girl’s journey, about how children were treated in the mid 1950s, from a novel and feels that way. There’s some chess too.

I watched the BBC's Murdoch doc to see the similarities with Succession. It was really interesting generally and even more so spotting the similarities with Succession.

Yeah I did that too. You can see how much Succession must be based on it, even down to the make up the siblings and their personalities.

I remember it all happening at the time but it’s scary how much the political parties courted the media and how in their pockets they were. Also how much disdain and lack of respect Murdoch had for all of them, just like Logan.

I know there was a thread on this but can’t find it. Since we’re all staying in more now and there are hardly any new film releases, we all need some good series to get our teeth into.
For anyone who enjoyed “The Haunting of Hill House”, check out “The Haunting of Bly Manor”. The 14 yr old and I are really enjoying it - watching at night with lights off for full effect.

Ended up binge watching about 6 episodes of Truth Seekers on Amazon this evening. Its like typical Pegg/Frost film elongated into a series.

Just finished Community. It's obviously very cleverly written and watchable but ran its course over the 6 seasons. Worth a watch if you're bored.

Watching battlestar galactica. Good start but around ten episodes in and it feels like filler to drag it out over numerous series. Plus they used the god awful "it'll take days to enhance the fuzzy image on this cctv" in the stupidest way I have ever seen (aside the fact its impossible). They have computing power to run a "faster than light" space ship. But are still using dell 386's for all other computing it seems.

Does it get better in series 2 and 3?

I'm putting off watching the final episode of this because I don't want it to end. Grant Morrison's done a marvellous job of re-writing a turgid bit of 1930's sci-fi (aka "...seminal...") making it 'fit' and relevant (I know, I know) for a 21st century audience. Harry "Family of Blood" Lloyd is brilliant as Bernard Marx as is Alden "Han Solo" Ehrenreich's portrayal of the 'civilising' of John the Savage. I take your:
relates to the gratuitous rumpy-pumpy throughout? :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Have now finished ‘the Queen’s Gambit’ and it’s a thoroughly enjoyable, if highly stylised, journey from gloom into light for its awkward heroine. Currently at a whopping 8.9 on IMDB.

The home county cartel - 24 hours in police custody was a good watch, especially when you know all the places because they're based in Hertford/Ware!

If anyone hasn’t bothered with Ambulance yet, Wednesdays, BBC One, it’s a very watchable insight into the NHS, full of humour and warm stories as well as the sad stuff.

Some interesting articles but boy did they lay on the "positivity" too thickly this time. Constant giggling, optimism, everything was great, they had clearly been told to cheer up the poor locked down viewer and it was really quite irritating. I do like Megan McCubbin though, really good natural and confident presenter.

I do think she is a little too confident and is given too much air time but anyone banging the conservation drum is fine by me I suppose.
Just came upon 'Tiger in the House' with Giles Clark,a day of Clarks with or without an 'e' clearly!
    Wonderful,especially as I hadn't seen it originally.
Ford and Arthur slept through their cousins antics!

There’s always a difficult balance to be maintained on these programmes between enthusing the audience and getting across the conservation message that nature is in a terrible state. The danger of the former is one of dumbing down and coming across as trivial, while the latter risks being too gloomy and depressing.

  31. I paused at the end of season 3 for a bit to catch up on a few other things and life took over a bit too. So can't watch that to avoid spoilers!

Season 5 is supposed to be really good though from what (spoiler free) reviews I've read.

I've watched Giles Clark and 'Tigers About the House' and 'What Happened Next' this week.
Brilliant conservation work and Giles did some of his training at Paradise Park in Broxbourne with my neighbour.
More Clarks like Giles rather than Clarkes like the former FA chief would help the world.
    Uplifting.

    Watched the Queen's Gambit.

She learns chess from a caretaker and becomes good at it. Goes to a local tournament where they expect her to be crap, because she's a woman and young, but she surprises them, because she's very good at chess.

From then on she rises up, playing state, national and international matches. Each time, surprising people by the fact that she is actually very good at chess.
