Would have been happy with the draw before the game, gutted we didnt win now though. Agree with everything everyone has said about Muffs antics and the **** ref. It was quite obvious after the tackle on Sarr at the beginning what their tactic with him was but the officials didnt cotton on. Sarr should have scored his one on one, lacked composure there and should have been looking to slot it with his right than blast with his left foot. We keep improving and we go again.
Yes to be fair he did, it didn’t seem to be at the referee though, just at the Bournemouth players themselves.
Disgraceful refereeing aside (welcome back to the championship)... I want to take a minute to appreciate our goal. Craig "The Quarterback" Cathcart taking a sublime touch and spraying a switch out to Sarr. Sarr taking it in his stride, looking up, and laying on an inch perfect cross to Perica who slides and stretches and steers it into the corner of the net. Beau-ti-ful. Now, if we could attempt to do that kind of thing more than once per match, we may all have some longer fingernails at the final whistle, and some more points to boot.
The majority of our goals have been similar. We don’t seem to put any real pressure on teams and have loads of scrappy type chances (second half today aside maybe) but often we put a simple, effective, precision move together and score a great goal out of absolutely nowhere.
People on here slaughtering the referee as if it's something new. It's always been like this. The referee was just at a normal standard, making the usual poor decisions. I'm a bit confused why such a big fuss it being made.
Norwich have been pretty good at winning games last minute. Unlike us, who are known for the opposite in recent years. I'm dreading Wycombe for some reason. It's on the cards... I can see it.
Surely you’d have to say this one was particularly bad? We’re not talking about one bad decision but a multitude of perplexingly bad ones.
I thought he was par for the course. No better or worse than the guy we had against Blackburn. This is the standard in the Championship.
Another 3 goals conceded by Brentford, only Coventry, Wycombe and Derby have conceded more than them this season.
In just 6 games Tisdale has managed to make Bournemouth even more loathsome than they were under Howe. Quite an achievement
See, I didn’t think he was that bad in general, he just bottled a number of very important decisions which ultimately had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. There were certainly no glaringly obvious red cards missed in the Blackburn game that I can recall at least.
I was thinking the exact same thing. They've had 7 defeats out of 7!! This is such an obvious game were we will slip up. Just as it's predictable we will concede a last minute goal at home, we just love messing up the easy games.
But he was chief instigator of their systematic *********ry when he was second in command, so no real surprise
Yeah, I just mean you get refs that consistently make bad calls on pretty innocuous things and they’re certainly par for the course in the Championship, but to me this was something else entirely.
What I didn't like about our last two games was that Blackburn playacted the entire match, and today Sarr and Perica were targeted for some pretty nasty treatment. These are deliberate tactics by their respected coaches. Conning a referee by diving is one thing, but deliberately trying to injure an opponent as a tactic is despicable. This is why we need the much maligned Deeney back as soon as possible. We need men out there who can protect our players, especially when the officials do not want to get involved.
You’d be quite right to be annoyed about that match as a Watford fan and Bournemouth will see that draw as a victory. But in reality, Bournemouth’s tactics failed. Sure, they were given every opportunity to try to enact their game plan of injuring our star players, but they only managed to get Perica (who is replaceable). Following this match, we won’t go against such chronic cheats again. The opposition surely won’t get as many chances to neutralise us. We will use our talent to push up the league, whilst Bournemouth’s cheats will have to jealously watch our rise. A point today. But with an uninjured Sarr, Capoue, Troost-Ekong etc., our talent will trump their cheating s***housery at the end of the season.
I don't know if he genuinely is almost ready or whether that was a bit of bluster on Hive Live before the Blackburn game, but given Perica is out and Gray is still a couple of weeks from being ready, I wouldn't be surprised to see big man Troy back imminently. Didn't have enough time to do anything on the pitch against L*ton, but at least did give their guy whiplash after he tried to start on young Jeremy lol
Speaking of which, what is the latest on Gray? Hughes is back with the main group and should be ready to play I guess in the next week or so, how much longer before Gray returns?
The game is so confusing these days how football is almost a non-contact sport in that the slightest hand on a shoulder is a foul, and every time two players go in for a hefty challenge for the ball, the referees seem to be duty bound to blow up. And then scything tackles (like that on Sarr today, where if his foot had been planted either his knee or leg would have snapped) often go unpunished. And the handball rules are just weird. But any criticism of referees should be tempered alongside the fact that most of the players are deliberately trying to cheat and fool him. It's really horrible to watch.
How is Gray still 2 weeks away? Didn’t he get a “knock” in a pre-season game? Even if it’s a hamstring surely he should be ready after another 2 weeks preseason, 6 league games plus an international break!! Our ability to recuperate players always seems woeful compared to other teams.
Yes, hats off to Vlad. My guess is that he swapped Cathcart and Kabs just so Cathcart could make that kind of crossfield pass to Sarr. That pass isn't in Kabs' repertoire.
I agree with you entirely, yet apart from maybe the sly elbow from Billing, I didn’t see anyone trying to con the ref, rather the ref just completely bottling some of the easiest most clear cut decisions he could possibly have to make. We often criticise Bournemouth for their diving, yet today we didn’t see any of that, rather shameless thuggish tackles that only the ref somehow failed to see.
Must be seething behind the scenes. Lucky he did not get hold of the referee. Wonderful man and manager Vladimir. We have a very strong base to work from and he has barely had that much time to work with HIS squad. I hope we repay the south sea scum in full in the return fixture.
Ref was just weak as piss. Expect he is on the list of "up and coming" refereeing stars. Like Atwell was. They are ******* pathetic, almost without exception. We still hear the SKY / ITV ******** that English refs are the best but (1) that is utter ******** and (2) none of them at the last WC
I have to say I've been a bit of a Troy basher lately but my boy met him at the ground today and he was really great towards him. Stopped for a chat before the game in the lounge. Recognised him from when he was a mascot 3 years ago too! Top top fella is our Troy!
