Quite frustrating watching the Champions League highlights and seeing fans in stadiums in other countries. Masks on, and spread out.

I wish we could strike a deal with the Government where we are allowed fans in if we agree to close the Moon Under Water. It would reduce Covid rates and get fans back in. No one loses.

I think it can be doable to have crowds of a few thousand, even if they said that no fan whose address is more than 5 or 10 miles from the ground can attend it would work for a lot of smaller clubs. Old Trafford would still be empty though.

Oh, that's nice of you. So why do you think I should not be allowed to travel down from Leighton Buzzard, particularly as I have paid the £20 season ticket retainer?

I wish we could strike a deal with the government that they become even half way competent.

Genuinely can’t see why they can’t allow a small number, say 1000 to start. If that goes well then up it to 2 or 3000. Not sure it’d be too wise to go beyond that for the time being.

  9. Got to prioritise the true fans over Glory Hunters.

The only issue I can see is when fans leave at the end of the game, but presumably it’s not beyond the scope of human ability to make sure everyone leaves in an orderly fashion.

I heard something about a cinema in Stratford showing the West Ham games, which just seems utterly ******** when the option to actually watch the game live socially distanced would surely be safer.

I would have thought about 1500 people in each stand would be more than manageable, and only letting a row or two of people out at a time would also be easy to do, hence maintaining social distancing.

But I was brought up in Oxhey, and supported Watford well before the days of GT. when we where 3rd and 4th division. I don't regard myself as a glory hunter.

I did wonder, but as I live nearer to the dog kennel, you never know.;)

  17. Yeah, I was up in Ampthill yesterday, I did wonder if it was sensible to be wearing my WFC branded face mask in bandit country!

I saw some pictures from FA cup ties this weekend and fair to say there wasn’t a lot of social distancing or face masks being worn!

When they allow people back, the issue they'll face is who gets to go and who doesn't. You can bet anything that every club will have fans who don't fall within whatever categories they choose who will moan and say "well why can't we go if they can?"

Surely it will be a ST holder ballot (for those who want to go)?

That's probably the fairest way to do it. I can see Watford doing that, although I think we have something like 12k season ticket holders. Of course not all 12 thousand would go but it's still the issue of can they fit everyone in

If indoor shows at the O2 and other places are allowed an audience, then it would be a disgrace not to allow football fans.

After such a rotten year I think I will weep with joy when I'm eventually back at the Vic watching Watford. I will later weep with sorrow after we lose the match.

I just hope we get a decent number of fans in and not just a token 1,000 or so as a pilot or trial.

As per my message earlier in the thread, I know it won't appease some people but surely it wouldn't be wise for the government to allow people to travel long distances, potentially from tier 3 areas to go to matches effecting fans who live a long way from their supported club.

I wonder what is the smallest number of fans required in order to generate an atmosphere. Even a few thousand could if they were boisterous, although with fans being spread out I imagine singing may sound weird and echoey.

It will be a limited number to start with.

    Don’t expect big crowds yet.

  31. Otter

I'd expect 10% max to start with, so about 2200 for us.

There was 1000 (I think) at Northern Ireland's playoff game last week, and it sounded pretty good at points on the TV.

Talk of a post Christmas lockdown so cannot see fans being in this year.

Agree. It was the first match i have watched since lockdown (I have simply had no desire to watch matches without crowds) and there was enough atmosphere to make it enjoyable.
