The same Ivic who we trusted about Suarez and Estupinan having just small problems which precluded their inclusions in matches, just before they were sold and able to play for their new clubs.

I've said plenty of positive things, when they're warranted. I've pointed out that we are looking impressive defensively a number of times and Pedro's goal was obviously brilliant.

I still think the overall performance last night was crap, devoid of creativity, intensity and a clear game plan for the attacking side of our play - as has been the case in almost every game this season - and that we were saved from a hideous 0-0 bore draw by a random wonder goal.

Good result, below average performance which Ivic wasnt happy with. Looked solid defensively, creativity will come once we start using a striker and Hughes and Capoue.

    Calm down ladies
    We just won!
    We scored a wonder goal
We are averaging 2 points a game
We have some real talent on the brink of return and a squad with 20+ players who would walk into any side in the league

Life could be worse - I work in the NHS and am expecting some low moments over the next 3 months

So you think it's more likely that Ivic and the club are both lying about something that could feasibly be quite easily disproved? Rather than not risking him as he genuinely arriving too late, tired, gameplan sorted without him, and with another game in 4 days.

If the plan was to openly entertain any late offers and Sarr was actually fit and ready to go, why not have him travel with the squad anyway? The deadline closed 3 hours before kick off so if there was any movement he could have been whisked away pretty easily to sign the deal, similar to when Sordell went to Bolton on deadline day. If nothing comes to pass, he's in the squad.

  8. Interesting...

Loses his patience a little... I like a manager with some spunk... annoyed we've now been the Friday game twice now as it means some players aren't back from internationals, and makes the point he's only had 10 or 11 players to work with over this break because of players on internationals and injured. Perhaps the bed wetters need to use their brains before engaging their fingers typing rubbish.

I'm not going to just automatically trust anything the club says, but were we really expecting Crystal Palace to come in with a ginormous bid? Didn't we laugh at them when they offered £45m?

At last the window is shut, and the international break is over, therefore barring injuries etc., Vlad has at last got a full squad to pick from. Therefore hopefully our season can begin in earnest, and we will begin to see what Vlad can realistically achieve.

As I said in another post, up until now Vlad has been forced to play damage limitation football and quite frankly I think he has done a brilliant job with the playing staff he has had available to him. I have to say that up until now in virtually every match when I have seen the team sheet I have thought we could quite easily have been on to a hiding and that included last night, but gladly that has not been the case.

Therefore now that Vlad has finally seen what he has to work with, barring injuries etc. I believe he will begin to play how he really wants to and finally abandon the damage limitation football he has been forced to play so far.

I believe our real season starts now and along with it our long march back into the Premier League at the end of this season....

The future is bright the future is....

So old miserable and a git

However 57 years going to Vicarage road makes you sanguine

Losing at home on a freezing March night to Colchester in a crucial match - having taken 3 trains and walking from the met station is a bad time
Losing 5-1 1t home to Orient or travelling to Roker Park - the bleakest ground on earth to lose 5-0 - not great either
Having Jim Bonser as Chairman and selling Tony Currie was a bad time

So winning at Pride Park in a less than perfect display is frankly not too bad

Ivic wasn't lying then though - the "problems" were that other clubs were bidding for them and they wanted to leave; he didn't specify that the problems were injuries. I pointed out the same at the time, but some people can't read.

Really struggling for any negativity after our start to the season.

The boring/negative football jibes, whilst correct, make me laugh. In Tel Aviv we were all saying the same thing about him early on, until he went the first thirteen games without conceding, and two nearly unbeaten tittles. He's now a god there! The fact is we look defensively superb bar the odd brain fart, we won't concede many goals this season at all, and importantly we have the individual quality to get a goal a game even when playing crap. It's pragmatic but it's far more likely to result in automatic promotion than trying to outscore teams a la Joka. We've conceded one goal this season and even that was incredibly unlucky.

With MTA things did click going forward albeit much more goals from the wide players. We have Deeney, Gray, Capoue, Hughes, Sarr and Perica to come back in, if he can average 2 points a game with the crap he's been forced to use then we are about to kick on a whole new level.

Confident if the above play a fair amount this season and stay relatively fit, we will go up this year. With our defence we will be in most games we play, and this lot should be good enough to make the difference with their quality. Think this week will be a good test with two teams I expect will be top 6 coming to the Vic.

Ngakia and Pedro are both starts in the making, can't wait to watch them develop with us.

King Ken has come back from Italy a really nice footballer. He's a 7/10 player in pretty much every position on the pitch bar centre back and can beat a man with ease. Will be huge for us this season.

Senegal's about a 5 hour flight I reckon. I also doubt that Sarr has to fly economy. There's also only 1 hour's time difference.

I cant see how 36 hours isn't enough time to recover from a short flight like that to make him at least worth being on the bench.

Sure some of you will credit this sort of nonsense. Some of the rest of us have seen enough of how the club are prepared to bare faced lie to fans and treat them with contempt, to not be so generous.

AS far as I remember you have to go via somewhere like Paris from Senegal, and total flight time is more like 10 hours than 5.

I don’t think there’s a huge conspiracy about Sarr and us looking to sell him etc. I think the price has always been what it’s been and no one has volunteered to pay it.

That said, I think the approach taken yesterday with not including him isn’t entirely truthful either. I think it’s clear he was left out in case a bid was made and leaving him out meant it wouldn’t have disrupted the teams plans had that been the case.

But a tired Sarr would have been okay for 15-20 mins if needed rather than Hungbo or A N Other in my opinion and it was a bit too idealistic to leave him out if the reasons the club gave were genuine. I hope it’s not a situation we repeat every time he goes away.

I notice Mane was good for 90 mins today and he will have arrived back at the same time.

That was grim - I remember getting my ailing Vauxhall Viva up the A1, just in time for KO. At least we saw the debuts of Kenny Jackett and Steve Terry that day (Nigel Callaghan also made his debut the following week in a 4-0 victory over Burnley on the final day of the season). Can't believe that is more than 40 years ago - GT was beginning to build the side that would give the club it's most successful period (to date). At least we repaid that result, with interest, two years later........
