You've been gone too long mate, you get 1 game to impress on this forum or you're written off for the rest of your career.

Consider yourself lucky you weren't here to see the Sarr ones. Actually, I had to see them, so i'll inflict them on you as well.

There must be a good defender in there in all honesty, must be hard to adapt to England without even the language. I'm sure he'll show it for someone, probably not us as he's, what, 5th choice at the moment?

I'm not surprised. We have people on here who wrote Sarr off

    Is he injured?

Surely having him on the bench is more useful than 2 goalkeepers

Pretty sure he's one of the 2 players with Covid.

Ah ok, that would make sense.

Do we know who the other is? Hughes?

    And they were right.

We sacrificed £30m on that utter dross. £30m which could have been spent on strengthening the defence or buying a decent striker, which would have seen us not relegated.

Sarr's signing was one of the worst decisions the owners have made over the past 2 years.

What you mean is you think you're right. A big part of him not being as good as we had hoped for this season is the tactics employed by Ivic

    Don't see much wrong there?

    - Ball does bounce of him still
    - I think it was a pretty woeful recruitment decision given the bigger, more obvious deficiencies in the squad
    - A signing of that value should be in the team immediately IMO. We didn't use him early enough for whatever reasons (Javi not wanting him etc)
    - "His true asset at the moment appears to be pace and the minutes he's had have tended to be against teams defending deep" Again spot and still true this season.

No, I mean I'm right. We got relegated. We have been indifferent this season and Sarr looks like a lost kid. Maybe a potential 5m player in there somewhere but not what we need or what we paid for.

Yes but the point is you can’t use people being critical of a £35m player as a “gotcha” when he can’t even dictate games in the championship. Nothing against the lad but in context a truly horrific signing from Pozzo.

Excellent showing for a first league start in English football! Naturally we haven't heard much of him as he's been very much a backup, but if we've got someone who is happy to sit on the sidelines, but can perform like that when called upon, that's pretty good, right?

He still looks a bit nervous at times, but he's getting there. I don't think he's going to set the world on fire, but a useful squad player perhaps.

Seems to be a lot of hype around him after the Norwich game. I thought he was pretty average!

I think it was more relief that he wasn't as crap as he first appeared to be after the Oxford & Newport games. He's never going to be first choice (sorry Chilean fans), as he's not mobile enough, but as a backup in the Championship, he's decent enough.

Played pretty well again on Saturday night (despite a shocking pass in the first minute to gift United a great chance).

Seems to have a good knack of blocking shots, good in the air and poses a threat in the opposition box. Still not convinced by his passing but certainly looks like an upgrade on Mariappa at least anyway.

Wouldn't want to rely on him over a PL season but not sure that's an issue these days.

He gives me more confidence than WTE at the moment.

A settled two is definitely needed to see the progress better.

Agreed, he doesn't look any better than Cathcart, Kabasele or Wilmot which is a little disappointing.

Regardless if we ever get there any time soon, I wonder if Sierralta will ever become PL standard? Still only 23, and a fairly fresh 23 year old too

Comfortable on the ball. Does all the basics well. Strong, dominant in the air , makes blocks, interceptions and passes reasonably well. Even strolls up to halfway when needed. He is growing more and more game by game. Well worthy of a player of the month award.

He'll be up for the most improved player of the season. I've never liked that award as it's usually given to the worst player who at least did try. Like the clubman of the year award.

However, that does not apply here. He's improved tremendously. I'm most impressed with his aerial dominance. We've not had a player like this for years. Not since Colin Foster, who was so commanding in the air. Shame they didn't sign him last season. He could have made the difference to us.

The 'most improved compared to how bad we imagined he would be given all the dross we've previously hoovered up from Udinese reserves' award?

  31. hornetboy1

He couldn't even get on the bench for ages. Looked crap against Newport and Oxford and only when all the CB's were injured did were we forced to play him. Since that time, he's certainly taken his chance and has leapfrogged every other CB in the pecking order. I'd say that fits the bill for most improved.

Of course he looked crap against Newport and Oxford, did you see the teams we put out in those games?! It's almost as if it's hard to tell how good someone is based off a couple of second string games.

Maybe it happened more by necessity than anything else, but once Munoz departs, whether that’s next week or next month or at the end of the season, he’ll deserve credit for the emergence of Sierralta who could easily end up being a £10m+ player and/or a premier league starter. Other managers would have binned him off once others returned from injury. Unless things pick up, his emergence will probably end up being the biggest bright spot for the season.

Ironically I thought he looked alright as a right wing-back against Oxford, though it might have been Navarro making him look good lol
