Just from a neutral perspective, I wanted Brentford to go up, a lot more interesting them than Fulham who were always going to struggle. Fulham would have lost Mitrovic had they not gone up, which would have gutted them, I thought Brentford would get picked off, was a bit slow going, but Benrahma will be a huge loss to them, how on earth do they replace him?

If anyone is going to do it, it is surely them; I'd half imagine they already have someone on staff who they see as his successor given the way they operate.

In recent years, they just haven't missed, I asked a Brentford fan, he said the last flop they signed was Josh McEachran...about 5 years ago, and he wasn't even a horrendous flop there neither! Still, like Sarr with us, they could bring in someone decent, but they'd have to go a long long way to match those heights!

    Classic West Ham.

Maybe they'll give us £15m for Dawson yet.

They may well replace him, but usually they have the players in situ before they sell.

Mbueno is quality and I like the look of Toney, but not sure they are anywhere near the same calibre as Watkins and Benrahma.

Going to be hard for them to find a replacement full stop, never mind in 1 week of the EFL window.

People were mocking them for it back when they first started implementing changes. Didn't take long for the results to be seen.

Turns out that stats actually DO tell you a lot about football, despite the protestations of many.

Hopefully that keeps Brentford out of our way this season and they finish as far down as possible.

Mbeumo is a quality player, but he plays alongside, rather than instead of Benrahma. I'm sure they know who they want to bring in, I'd imagine they had Toney lined up for ages (and at the moment he looks an able replacement for Watkins), but 17 goals is obviously hard to replace, even a 10 goal winger is decent, but still a step down

Move to West Ham has broken down apparently, with Spam moving their attentions to Josh King, which would also be good news for us. Especially if Palace end up snapping up Benrahma anyway...

West Ham have agreed a £30m deal with Brentford to sign forward Said Benrahma, 25, but still have to agree personal terms with the Algeria forward. (Sky Sports)

£30m for Benrahma? Must be because he's a home grown English player as to why it's an inflated price.......oh wait!!

Brilliant negotiating from Brentford yet again. Around £60m made from selling just two star players.

We've got rid of Estupinan, Suarez, Doucoure, Welbeck & Janmaat and only made around £45m

Yes, we should have sold them for £30m each.
I'm sure the £30m will be a headline figure inc all the add ons given it was reported that WHU had offered £17m.

Not really sure why you included Janmaat and Welbeck in this - clearly no-one wanted them.

I don't think it's comparable really. Welbeck and Janmaat were released, so no fee there (just like Brentford released players), Doucoure was indeed a star and despite their promise and potential - Suarez and Estupinan had never played a competitive match for us. So Brentford made £60m from selling 2 star players and we made £45m from selling 1 star player and 2 players who have never played for us.

It's hard to comprehend that we didn't get £30m for welbeck.

oh yes the "we sold two players who never played for us" argument. Always a winning repost. So, if a player doesn't play for Watford, is his priced is increased or decreased??.....I've never understood how that worked.

Apart from the clubs who will actually sign them for free of course.

Clearly no-one wanted to spend money on them then - whatever way you look at it including them in your original comment is a bit strange.

I don't believe this figure. It's a hugely deflated transfer market and I feel if Gino and the team can't get £30m+ for Doucoure, no way are Brentford selling TWO players for that amount of cash. Each!

    I don't believe social media.

If so many Norwich players are in demand how come they were so poor last season?

Just because their relegation team were younger than ours??

Had some very good players who clearly belonged in the Prem, but other than that, a little like us, they had a lot of players who just weren't quite good enough for the top level. Turns out a 22 year old English defender who actually has a bit of potential is far more attractive than 30ish yo defenders who are also borderline Championship/PL level

I'm not sure how true the story is but apparently, he did the announcement video, posed with the shirt and all that jazz.

Was in the middle of filming his first interview when he was told he had some blood complications, WH went back to Brentford and wanted to change it to a loan. Brentford said go **** yourselves. Benrahma was sitting on a chair in a West Ham shirt and a camera crew on hand being told he had to leave by Brentford staff.

I hope it's true as it might top that guy sitting in a car park.

Harry Wilson to Cardiff on loan with them paying £60k a week and a £1.2m loan fee, pretty steep for someone just there for a season. Speaking of Liverpool loanees, Harvey Elliot has gone to Blackburn (a bit surprised at that seeing as I thought Liverpool would have wanted to keep him close to the first XI). Our old mate Knockaert has gone to Nottingham Forest in what is the most obvious deal ever lol
