Played a season for FGR in Div 2 but at 30 I doubt he will make it back into the top 4 leagues.

Dale Bennett was five years at F.G.R making 180:appearances, In June 2018, he returned to the National League, signing a two-year contract with Sutton United.[22] At the end of his first season with the club he won a clean sweep of awards as Club Player of the Year, Players' Player of the Year and Supporters' Player of the Year. On 17 October 2019 the club confirmed, that injuries had forces 29-year old Bennett to retire immediately.

Shame he's not still at WFC. He'd have got a new 4 year contract.

Michael Bryan? I remember he was one of the players who came from the youth team to the first team under Malky Mackay. He was notable as he made a couple of senior appearances for Northern Ireland despite hardly ever playing for us. When he left on a free transfer, he seemed to tumble down the leagues and ended up below conference level in one fell swoop.

Oddly enough, I saw him in the crowd at one of the Ryman Premier Division playoff games last year.

Pervis Estupinan. August 2020 to September 2020. Zero appearances.

Great performance last night for Ecuador. Fouled Ocampos to give away a penalty that Messi scored to seal a 1-0 win for Argentina. Much lamented in these parts.

Jean-Alain Fanchone. 1 appearance in the Zola season, now at Sc Schiltigheim in the French fourth tier.

Geoffrey Mujangi Bia. 3 appearances in the Zola season, seem to remember him looking pretty good in a youtube video. Now without a club, most recently played for Maccabi Petah Tikva, who I think were in the Israeli second division. Failed to make an impact.

I can picture a player, but can't remember the comrade's name. I'd like to identify him, because he was the worst I've ever seen in a Watford shirt. Utterly inept. Would get jeered and harangued by his own teammates in a Sunday morning game sort of bad. Looked like he had rarely, if ever, kicked a football before.

He was a full back (right back?) who played for us in GT's first time. Lanky lad with very blond floppy hair. I want to say "Trevor" but I may have subconsciously attached a comedy name to fit the performance.

I remember him playing a first half at the Vic and GT was encouraging him like crazy from the sidelines, but that seemed to make him even worse. Opposition forwards were gleefully and embarrassingly skinning him over and over. Teasing him.

I believe he got subbed off at half time by popular demand. It was a bit cruel of GT to leave him out there that long.

    Who was he?

There was one player I heard we actually had to pay more for than his club wanted after a tribunal!

That one surprised me, last I saw he was doing alright for Standard Liege so thought he'd be able to carve out a decent career for himself.

I can vaguely remember him as pretty god awful (apologies Jimmy if you're reading this, you obviously improved when you moved to York City!) and he stayed quite some time at the club but not entirely sure why.

He was ok and even regained the RB spot from John Stirk who had been ever present when we were promoted to the 2nd tier under God. Kept his place until we signed Mick Henderson (from Brum?) who turned out to be rubbish.

John Stirk, - watching an early season league cup game at Brentford, he went to trap the ball right in front of us. It was very straightforward but he totally missed it, and my Dad has never forgotten or forgiven.

John Stirk was an odd case. He was signed in 1978 to improve the team for the step up into the 3rd Division and played every game, including cup games, that season which ended in another promotion. However the following year he only played in the first two League cup games, never to be seen again and was sold to Chesterfield later in the season. These days that would look like a falling out with the manager, but I think GT just didn’t think he was up to the 2nd Division standard for some reason and replaced him with the aforementioned How and then Henderson.

It appears his name is more fancy than his footballing!

Santiago Aloi (born 25 March 1987, in Villa María) is an Argentine footballer who plays as a midfielder or forward for Instituto.

Beginning his career in his native Argentina with River Plate, Aloi spent the 2007–08 season on loan with Watford in the Football League Championship. He later returned to South America, playing in his homeland as well as representing Municipal Liberia in the Costa Rican Primera División. In 2014, he returned to England with Kidderminster Harriers and spent a month on loan at Worcester City.

    Career[edit]
Aloi was spotted by Watford scouts in May 2007 and was signed on loan on 31 August 2007 with a view to a permanent deal. However, he never appeared for the first team and did not join permanently.[1] He made just one substitute appearance in the Primera B Nacional for Belgrano[2] before heading to Costa Rica, where he appeared twice in the Primera División for Municipal Liberia.[3] He went on trial with Scottish side Falkirk in 2011.[4]

In 2012 Aloi returned to Argentina with hometown club Alumni in the third division of Argentine football. He played 14 times, scoring 2 goals.[5] His good form attracted the attention of Milton Keynes Dons manager Karl Robinson who offered Aloi a trial at the club in the summer of 2013.[6] No permanent deal materialised and after another year with Alumni playing four more times, Aloi returned to the United Kingdom with Conference Premier side Kidderminster Harriers in January 2014. In March, he signed a month-long loan deal with Worcester City where he played 6 times.[7]

He returned to his homeland to play for Club Atlético Mitre in July 2014.

Ah... That desperate spell under Aidy where we signed up any trialist with a pulse. Some wonderful characters like Douglas Rinaldi, Johan Cavalli and Cedric Avinel.

The latter two ended up having pretty solid careers, both playing over 100 games for Corsican outfit Ajaccio.

Albert Jarrett and Moses Ashikodi among other highlights of that awful season where there was "no way we were getting relegated". Still, more points than Norwich achieved last season.

Here's one. I give you... Patrick Blondeau. Former French international signed by Vialli.

Interesting trivia: 2 years before signing for Watford he played in the 1999 UEFA Cup final for Marseille. He was in the same backline as another slightly more memorable Hornet-to-be: Pierre Issa. Oh and Laurent Blanc.

They got tonked 3-0 by Parma and he (and Issa) washed up at Watford, probably regretting their life choices. Laurent Blanc did not end up at Watford interestingly.
