I've not read this thread through, but is it being suggested that Ashley Young is interested in coming back to WFC, or have I got that wrong, as that does not sound very likely to me? However if that is the case, our LWB problems would be over, as it would be an absolutely unbelievable signing that I would welcome with open arms.
Would it have hurt you to just give me a clue? No it would not have, but you just prefered to be your usual "smartarse" self instead and I notice all the usual suspects liked your post as well
I'd have him back for a swansong, his celebrations were stupid at the Vic for United but that's nothing really in the grand scheme of things. It's quite nice having a player saying he wants to play for us for once.
When my mates and I first started going to Watford together at the age of about 13 we used to support garston boys in the Wobby penalty shoot out - no idea why but had no allegiance to any of the Herts based teams as we all came from Harrow way
I played in the penalty shoot out for Garston Boys! I think it must have been about 1991 or 1992. We were a year under age but made it to the final, sweeping all we faced aside. We then promptly failed to score at all in the final...
I remember getting a frightful beating by Garston Boys back in the day. It is horrible to think hornetboy1 might have been on the opposition and I didn't take the opportunity to snap his femur in half.
Glenn Murray struggled to get off the bench for Brighton. Ashley Young is a regular starter for Inter who finished 2nd in Serie A last season. Even if it was a short term option given his age, lets not pretend he wouldn't be one of our best players. He scored four times as many goals for Inter from Left Wing Back last season as Glenn Murray did playing as a striker.
I will always prefer getting players under the age of 32. Ideally 20s. This is just **** news probably anyway.
We would all want a player of his quality in their 20s, but how many would want us? It would take all of 10 seconds for you to see it is not **** news, it came from Ashley Young's mouth* https://www.watfordfc.com/magazine/features/podcast-golden-tales-episode-2-ashley-young He and Deeney both said there were some talks back in January but they didn't progress. He is now saying hopefully in the future he will be playing for the club and will finish his career here. The club may not be interested, but it would appear that he is. *I am sure there is a joke about **** and Ashley Young's mouth, but I can't think of it
Didn't this bloke celebrate in front of the Rookery when he scored for Man U? Quite enthusiastically too if I remember. **** him. Edit: Nice goal but remember where you came from you to**er:
Enjoyed listening to his interview. To be fair, if we had a couple of players with his mentality, we’d have stayed up last season.
I am going back a bit further than that ! Probably 77-78 or so (did GT introduce the half-time shootout?)
To be fair to him he only said he loves the club. He probably, quite rightly, thinks the fans are a bunch of ****s.
Lest we forget Boothroyd nearly brought Mooney back for our Prem campaign. My word I wish that had happened.
I came up to a charity match that was Watford legends V people who paid to play against them on the pitch. There was a game on before it with some 'celebs' and I know Lovejoy was playing. I'm thinking it was to help raise club funds during one of our near administration periods? Turned up thinking we'd ony missed the first 5 minutes, Lovejoy was just about to take a penalty, he missed, everyone laughed and the ref blew the final whistle. Somehow we'd got the time completely wrong. But did then get to see the legends game. Is this the one you played in?
I think HB1 was the one who got booked for dissent after 3 mins and then sent off for dissent after 8 mins......
Am sure he claimed a refereeing conspiracy against Garston Boys stemming right from the top of the FA
I appreciate Ash's dedication saying he'd walk from Italy to Watford. I do think he'd struggle to make it accross the channel on foot though. Much as I loved him as a Watford player, I think we should keep sentiment out of this. If he's still up for it physically then ok. He's in good shape but 35 is too old for most footballers. He'd have to take a massive pay cut too. It would probably come down to how badly he wants to make it happen.
Ivic dressed as a nun to play Mother Mary Stigmata, Troost Ekong in the Cab Calloway role and Maureen from the canteen using her renowned karaoke skills to do a passing impression of the legendary Aretha Franklin.
I scored at HT into the rookery for Watford Rockets when they had 25 yard shoot outs instead of penalties for youth teams . My life has been downhill ever since .
