Who was our last Liverpool loanee? They don't seem to ever loan to us unlike Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, etc
Another Arsenal loan option: William Saliba. Was meant to be loaned to Saint Etienne but move didn’t go through in time. Top young CB. Supposedly they want to loan him out to the Championship.
Mentioned him a few times. Can't believe he never moved on after an excellent spell at Hertha. Played in the Championship with Cardiff albeit not many games. Unfortunately I believe he's out of our range unless they're still sniffing around Sarr. Would take him and Wilson.
Liverpool and Bundesliga fans reckon he did well on loan at Hertha last season, and so there's no way he'd take a step down now to a level below that having prospered.
There is some mental good loans available by prem teams who didn't get paperwork/moves out in time. Saliba, Tomori, Grujic to name a few. As one of the bigger names in the Championship there are some great possibilities over the next 10 days.
Some people in the Capoue thread have said that they think the only place he could possibly leave us for would be West Brom. However, surely it would be more likely that if West Brom still want a DM then they would sign Grujic and we would keep Capoue. I'd be surprised if he drops to the Championship again at any rate.
Tomori turned down WHU to fight for his place and was in the England squad recently. Can’t see him dropping down. I suspect Saliba will just stay at Arsenal and rotate in Europe/cups and train with them. I think Harry Wilson might end up back at Bournemouth? Theres definitely some talented players around looking surplus though - I would just be surprised if many of them wanted to step down. But something has to give and surely some will have to.
If Dawson goes and we pick up an injury to one of the others its leaving us very short if we continue with three at the back.
Yeah they can’t. This domestic window is weird. Prem > EFL transfers, EFL > Prem transfers and EFL>EFL transfers all ok. Prem > Prem deadline was last night.
What’s strange is the EFL agitated for the change to the window. Leaves EFL clubs very susceptible to those PL clubs who couldn’t quite get done what they wanted yesterday - the window to replace from abroad is gone. I think in many ways this is the dangerous part of the market for us now. We are now pretty much at the limit squad wise in terms of numbers - so while we would welcome moving some individuals out still, I’m not sure we can afford to lose them without replacements first. There will probably still be stories about Sarr for the next 10 days and an increase of rumours about Deeney/Gray/Dawson, maybe even domestic moves for the likes of Chalobah, Capoue...
Didn't realise that, odd. Though also, I just noticed that West Brom already have Connor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea and he's not even made their squad yet - so maybe they don't even need Capoue or Grujic (I'm aware Gallagher is a tad more attacking than them both though).
Who is going to be signing Chalobah? I don't think he's even good enough for what we need at the moment.
I'm not suggesting its likely. But his name likely carries weight in the game and I wouldn't be surprised if he was linked with someone like a Fulham or something.
Arsenal still supposedly interested in Buendia. Norwich lost Godfrey yesterday. There’s a deal to be done there.
One club's susceptible is another club's opportunity to cash in. I think EFL clubs were concerned PL clubs would do all their shopping abroad if the windows were identical and less money than normal would trickle down, just at a point when we all need it to.
That definitely seems to have been the rationale. But I think the EFL screwed themselves. Prem teams could pursue foreign targets safe in the knowledge that there might be EFL backups if need be. If there had been an integrated window, Prem teams would have had to make their interest concrete at the start of the window, giving EFL clubs the cash they needed then, allowing them to budget their incomings and bring in players from abroad. I see the logic, but I’m not convinced. Will be interesting to see how this mini window pans out though.
Would it not have made sense to draw the domestic window to a close before the European one then? If PL clubs really wanted an EFL player they are forced to do it early and give EFL teams the full range of time to source replacements from wherever they like? Seems like its still weighted in favour of the PL.
Yeah but everything in football is weighted in favour of the PL. It's a bleak place outside of the gang of 20. I think the point is EFL clubs didn't want PL clubs trying to barter them downwards by saying, "Well if you don't sell us so and so for £X, we'll just buy Senor so and so instead for the same price elsewhere". I think there are relatively few cases where certain EFL players are the only real target. At least now EFL clubs know if a PL club truly wants a player, they've got no where else to go. The really shortsighted thing in my view isn't the bit you're worried about. It's the fact PL clubs can come on strong now, completely unsettle a player and then just bide their time for less than 2 months until the January window swings open. Then they can really squeeze the selling EFL club.
Sead Kolasinac on loan? His move abroad never quite happened. Sure he doesn't want the Champ but better than not playing, you'd think.
Cauley Woodrow. Local lad. I think he would bag us goals. Experienced at this level. Barnsley are a shambles. Ludewig recalled, Mowatt being looked at by several clubs. No wonder Struber left.
Apparently unsettled and his family have moved back to Germany. Don’t think playing football was his sole motivation for moving and I’d expect he will be gone early in the January window.
It's a long shot. Probably too good for us. Didn't know that background though, thanks. You're probably right about a January move.
