Looks like another season of an awful injury record.

Already lost Masina, now TDB too. Gray, Hughes, Deeney, Chalobah, Cleverley, Sema and Kiko have all had issues already as well, although thankfully some small.

Then Janmaat and Success seem permanently injured now.

Poor lad. Looked a proper player. We have had some awful luck with players doing their ACLs in the last few years. I'm no physio but as far as I'm aware that can't be down to training regimes can it? If you're losing a player a week to muscle injuries then that's the club's fault, but ACLs is just really unfortunate.

Hopefully he can show Nate how you're supposed to come back from a knee injury.

It looked like the Geri incident when he went down. I was surprised he continued playing.

Season over before it began. Shame as he had such a bright future. They can work wonders these days, and he's young, but let's not pretend this type of injury can change the direction of a career. Desperately feel sorry for him.

Really sad news. Had waited a season patiently for his chance and had looked the part - now this season is effectively a write-off for him and its back to the drawing board.

Was amazed he played on after the initial injury on Saturday, his leg went the other way and you could see something went. Said to a mate that he was surely done and was stunned that he came back on (or allowed to continue). Was less amazed that he had to go off 5 mins later though.

So now we need a central midfielder regardless of whether Capoue goes or not, huzzah! Unless we can hold off and survive until TD-B comes back from this in 18 months. I'm sure that's what Gino will be banking on, as a prudent fellow.

Feel so sorry for TDB. Such awful luck for him.

This club is in such a mess.

"You don't play youth at this club!"

Is it common for a club to get this many long-term injuries, or are we that unlucky? From the top of my head we've had TDB, Chalobah, Janmaat, Pereyra, Deulofeu, Cleverley(?) and Welbeck all out for significant periods in the last couple of years. Janmaat and Welbeck is suppose is the risk when you sign injury-prone players.

We lost Cathcart for pretty much an entire season a few years ago too. Success as well.

Negligence to leave him on, considering he went down without contact, out for 6 months, I doubt if we will see him again this season!

We sign players with known injury problems and then act surprised when they get injured.

So of that lovely list of exciting youth players, we probably only have Pedro, Ngakia, Wilmot and a so-far-underwhelming Quina.

Just let this sink in. We let a player with an ACL injury carry on playing. Or he had a more minor injury but this then caused the ACL injury when he went down the second time. This club...

Tough on the lad - and probably won't be back for a year at least with our record on knee injuries.

SLB is right - probably made it worse making him play on for a bit.

I would not be surprised if he told Vlad he was OK to continue because he was so keen to carry on playing, and lets face it Vlad does not have a scanner on the sideline to confirm if the lad is telling the truth or not does he.

It is difficult to say how much the physios knew about his injury? They probably didn't see the TV replays we saw, and may have been guided by what the player told them.

Genuine question. Would/should a medical team be able to tell from seeing TDB's knee how severe the injury is? Or from TDB's description of what happened? I'd like to think our doctors wouldn't let him play on if they had any suspicion of a serious injury...

As TVOR said, if TDB said it's not that bad I'd like to carry on, and there's no obvious signs of severe damage, what should they do?

Really bad luck on his full debut; and you could understand why he would want to play on. Tommy Mooney warned at the first injury that these ones don't necessarily hurt much and evinced surprise that he could carry on. The physios must shoulder some of the blame: They are supposed to be the experienced ones. I think the point about not seeing tv replays is fair enough, however.

I would say that the way he went down, immediately crumpling and putting his arm across his face and rolling back and forth were signs enough that he was in serious distress. How many times has anyone ever seen a player do that not in a tackle and not have a serious injury?

I appreciate that he's got to say how he's feeling too but I really feel we should've been safety first here, even recognising that it was his first start and that he would want to continue.

Surely unless a bone is poking out only the player can tell how bad it really is?

Our ancient fight or flight system releases a load of adrenaline at the outset of a series injury (like a broken bone) so we can flee danger if we need to. Once it wears off, only then does the pain become unbearable and you are aware of what’s happened.

I feel really sorry for this lad, especially as he seems to have such a great attitude.

I really hope he comes back fully fit mentally (Chalobah) as well as physically, because if he does I think he may well go on to become the next WFC legend.
