Doubt there's too much to that. It also said Chelsea were considering Joe Hart as well. But he's signed a two year contract so we can demand whatever fee we like for him. £20m would be a good starting point.......£30m if it's Everton.

FWIW, I doubt he leaves, but I wouldn't be devastated if he did. Yes, he is still a good goalie, but started to look shaky at times last season. Might have been a total lack of competition for a starting spot, but then again, he is 37, so maybe it's time we say goodbye and let someone else take the #1 jersey

Who is that keeper we are always being linked with from Udinese, is Scuffet or something like that, or possibly that guy from Leicester or even Joe Hart?

The Scum reliable as ever. Chavsea are looking for a reliable young number one. And they have Caballero as their two. Everton have Crapford and Virginia. That might hold water if they loan him out. We would be in a pickle as we would need two keepers as Bachmann cannot be trusted.

Just seen an interview with Ben Foster on SSN. He didn't spill the beans on what's going on behind the scenes or anything like that, but his general demeanour was a bit downbeat.

They were speaking of the new season and he said players can be a bit moody during pre-season. Saying that Ivic wants players to be super fit with low body fat percentage and double training sessions.

He went on to say that there was no truth in the links to him being looked at by Everton and Chelsea. He also mentioned that he's not really into football and only switches on for matchday. Outside of that he's not really too bothered.

It was a similar interview he gave a few weeks ago, saying you've got to roll with the punches and that he liked Pearson and Shakey. He thought they were "good guys".

There were no clues that he's leaving, but he didn't come across as being delighted the new season is just around the corner or too enthused over the new coach.

Here's the link, maybe I'm reading it wrong, but see for yourself. It's not the full interview though, and he did laugh about the link to Chelsea and Everton, but I am quite surprised he's still with us.

Hornetboy1, what do you do for a day job? Outside of work to you live, eat and breathe your job? If not, then Foster is the same, work is work, home is home.

Well maybe like Troy he liked having a British coach and he seemed to have a good laugh with Stack.

Now that has all changed and it's down to serious hard work.

Well...I do actually. I own my own company so it is pretty much an 18 hour a day focus and passion, but you do need distractions and football does help with that.

But that's not the point I'm making. I have no problem with Foster or any other player seeing it as a job only. That's fine, but he comes across as not really wanting to be part of it, or not enthused by it. He's not coming across as upbeat as he usually is.

Really pleased about what Foster has said about Ivic...... squad started last season rather unfit...... if some of the more experienced squad members don't like it, tough.

As for Foster wouldn't mind if he left, some great saves but very shaky at times last season

He basically said football is just a job to him, and as he is getting near the end of his career who can blame him for not being as hyper and bubbly about what is essentially his job, as he possibly was earlier in his career.

He came across as matter of fact, and said he had plenty of other interests not just football. He also said that come match day he switches on to football and concentrates fully on it then.

Or better yet, smashing the ball out of play just past the halfway line.

Or even better, smashing the ball at Mapps and watching him fail to control it.

Or, deciding that he doesn't fancy diving for a ball struck at a medium pace, barely near the bottom corner of the goal. God, I can't wait for last season to be a distant memory.

I don't mind him treating like football as a job at all. However, on the rare times I mess up at work I don't shrug and grin like a clown.

No - just some mild self reflection in an interview after we lose 8-0. Not too much to ask is it? Pathetic response from you by the way.

I think you are the pathetic one, the man is a professional footballer not a school boy, he just takes things in his stride. He is to long in the tooth to fret about what he cannot change and let it play on his mind he just gets on with it.

So get over your self and stop insulting him and others which seems to be your main forte

How am I insulting him? He's a classic illustration of the comfortable complacent footballer that got us relegated.

He's our number 1, but don't demand I like him.

    The key bit about Ivic:

It is scarcely dull at Watford and last month Vladimir Ivic became the club’s fourth permanent manager in less than a year. Troy Deeney has said the Serb sometimes looks as if “he’s going to kill you” and others have likened him to James Bond villain. “It’s a good shout,” Foster says, smiling. “He is very conservative in giving out praise. He’s not the kind of guy to put an arm round you, speak to you – ‘how you are doing or how’s the family’; he’s a completely different manager to Nigel Pearson.

“He is very direct and very happy to pull people up on things if they’re not working hard enough. He has been running the lads like dogs [in training]. Every single day they are crawling off the pitch, knackered. But because it is a ridiculously condensed season, being able to stay fit and keep fitness levels high could be the difference between making the top two or being in the play-offs.”

Decent interview, so tomorrow will be Foster's first second tier match since the 2006 Play off final.

From that... It sounds like the source of the earlier Mail article was Ben Foster and they've applied their little Daily Mail twist and said that everyone hates him and wants him out by Christmas.

I couldn't find this elsewhere, apologies if I've missed an obvious thread. Thought this is interesting:

Ben Foster has set up his own YouTube channel, "Ben Foster - The Cycling GK". It's quite well made, clearly got some production help in as it looks slick. The latest 'episode' is mostly footage from Foster's end of the Vic against Luton, filmed with a GoPro. Some interesting audio picked up from some of the Luton players having a go at each other...!

Other stuff shows interaction with other players, including an embarrassed/grumpy Will Hughes.

An interesting watch and certainly a different view point on the game but the fact he seems so conscious of the camera worries me slightly. Quite a few times he is seemingly talking to the camera and he glances down to it a lot.

Hopefully won't impact his concentration levels in the game.

Heartening to know that no matter what level of football you're playing at, 90% of what is said is "Time!", "get up/out!", "Away!".

i thought its an interesting little video, seems to be very little communication with the camera during the game. i think sometimes he was talking to someone behind the goal, maybe a ball ball. i thought his concentration throughout was excellent.
