    Dominant performance.

Hopefully Chalobah is only a few weeks. Having Garner seemed to help Chalobah settle on the ball and take more chances breaking play up further forward to influence the game. That is the Chalobah I know is there.

That 10 minute spell after that sub unsettled us, but TDB slotted in fairly seemlessly after a dodgy start.

A hamstring probably means a few weeks out, but at least it's not career-threatening. Should bounce back fine.

    Not one player played poorly.

    Foster had nothing to do.

Wilmot was decent against a tough winger. Not the finished article but plenty of potential.

Kabasele - couple of mistakes which you expect from him but was solid besides that.

Cathcart - The best of our back 3. Apart from a 30 second period as the second half kicked off he was phenomenal.

Sema - Great game, much better when utilised further up the pitch though. Vital we keep him this season.

Ngakia - Looks better every game. Can defend and attack. Only going to get better.

Garner - Looked like he was hiding for the first 20 minutes but was very good after that. Certainly got stuck in as the game went on.

Chalobah - Really solid performance but will likely be out for a few weeks now.

Cleverley - Probably my MOTM. Led the team, organised and had a great all round game.

Sarr - Far too good for this level. A little bit of rustiness.

Pedro - Was quite poor for the first 15 but didn't give up and grew into the game. Bullied the Luton back line by the end of the game.

TDB - Was a bit worried after the first 5 minutes of his game but he actually looked really good as the game went on.

An exciting, young, attacking team with a few more experienced heads. Sort the injuries out (and the outgoings), get some signings for depth and we could have an exciting season.

Get in there. Probably one of the most friendly derbies ever with the scum helping Pedro with cramp and the like. There gypo centre back got a bit pissed in the 93rd but thats about it. Great performance from the lads, JP and Sarr looked lively, Troy looked very unfit still even by his standards, but I think he was there for the experience and mental side. Hope Nate isn't too badly injured - Him Garner and Clevs did very well - TDB as well when he came on.

To me MOTM today was either Pedro, NGakia or Sema

I'm genuinely crying salt tears of joy. I cant say that this makes up for everything, but it comes pretty close. Wish I'd been in the ground to see it. I'd probably have roared up a lung at the final whistle.

Everyone stepped up. No doubt the message was made clear to them this week what this game means.

    7 points from 9.

    Unbeaten.

    Another. Clean. Sheet.

    JP the hero.

    Sarr involved.

    Beating the scum.

    Get the f*ck in!!

    Excellent performance overall.

Other than Kabasele's mistake letting them hit the crossbar, they offered absolutely nothing, and that was down to a strong, disciplined performance by the lads.

Foster virtually anonymous, but that wasn't his fault.

Ngakia was ******* brilliant. He looks an absolute steal of a signing and beat his man almost every time while doing some sterling defensive work.

Back 3 were extremely solid defensively, Kabasele's nightmare error excluded. He did redeem himself somewhat with a great block later in the game, though.

Midfield looked a bit anemic initially but got into the game around the 20 minute mark. Cleverly was excellent today, and Garner (after a very quiet start) took a fair amount of pressure off Chalobah and let him play. Best display by Chalobah in a long time today, and such a shame he went off injured.

King Ken continues to look quite excellent for us. JP started a little nervy but really grew into the game and did some outstanding work.

Sarr was simply excellent, and terrified them the whole game. You could see it every time he got the ball: their backline panicked. Lovely to see.

Subs all did well too; TDB looked a little shaky for the first 5, but was very good for the rest of the game and should be proud of the work he put in. Quina came on and didn't stop sprinting until the end of the game. Troy came on, steadied the ship and gave a frustrated Scummer some aggro, which was hilarious.

I can't remember Luton doing anything that looked remotely threatening all game.

No doubt after today that the boys care. 100% effort from everyone from start to finish, no one hiding. 10/10 for Vlad.

MOTM would have been Ngakia if this was a normal game, but I can't vote for anyone other than the birthday boy goalscorer in a 1-0 win vs the Scum: Pedro is my MOTM.

Brilliant start to the weekend, simply brilliant.

Fantastic, brilliant day. I think that was the first genuinely coherent performance under Ivic and boy what a good time to not be playing some nonsense cup game in the week.

Sets us up for the season nicely now.

    Good game

obv JP and Sarr are class and amazing how much difference to the team Sarr makes

for me though Ngakia, Sema and Cleverly were the surprises of the game all three were excellent , Ngakia and Sema look like mini Sarr’s turning the opposition , moving at speed causing real problems , cleverly lead throughout the whole game, was making excellent passes and getting in the box.

Everybody else on the pitch pretty good as well

Much better there. An extra bit of match fitness, and having Sarr instead of a geriatric up front unsurprisingly made a big difference.

Foster - 6 - good at crosses, but poor distribution

Cathcart - 8 - best of the CBs, won everything
Kabasele - 6 - has generally been our best CB so far, and was good for most of the match, but loses points for the brainfart he often has in him appearing today to almost cost us.
Wilmot - 7 - his best game for us so far. Still got caught out a couple of times when opponents dribbled around him, but generally more composed and not as loose with his passing.

Sema - 8 - one of our few players who seems to have that extra bit of quality when needed in the final third, very good work for the goal.
Ngakia - 8 - very good defensively and was more of an outlet going forwards than in previous games

    Cleverley - 8 - was everywhere.
Chalobah - 7 - maybe slightly misremembering, or tainted by his getting injured, but still could offer a bit more. Put in some challenges which he might have backed out of in the past though.
Garner - 7 - was anonymous and just strolling about for the first 30 minutes, but once he realised he can't get away with being so casual at this level and got going he put a real shift in and showed some of his quality on the ball.

Sarr - 7 - his decision making could have been better at times, and his mindset is still to assist others when sometimes he can go for goal more (which is more tricky when he's often playing the furthest man forward). His pace and ability to find space caused them lots of problems though and he'll get sharper again with more games.
Joao Pedro - 7 - similar to Garner, was really sloppy for the first 30 minutes, not sure his shot was going in either, but it seemed to give him a bit more confidence and he grew in to the game.

    Extra bonus:
Deeney looked rather on the large side, but at least it was him coming on and not Murray.
Dele-Bashiru looked lively when he got on as well.

The referee was a plank. Pearson should have been sent off.

Ticking along nicely, unspectacular but effective and our best performance this season so far. Ngakia & Sema stood out but no-one played badly. Cleverley is marshalling them well, playing well himself and the team is taking shape for the long season ahead.

Oh and we beat Luton. I'll be wearing a yellow shirt & Watford tie at work on Monday whilst my Luton-supporting colleagues will be sulking. Life is good :)

A game for all the happy clappers. Battered them. The only negative I can think of is that we only won 1-0.

We look so solid defensively. I think Foster has made, what? two saves this season in 3 games. Imagine if we bought Ivic in instead of QSF.

Foster - 7. Had nothing to do, a couple of decent balls.

Ngakia - 9. Potentially MOTM. A brilliant player, not sure why he didn't want to stay at West Ham as he surely would be their best RB atm.

    Cathcart - 8. Solid.

Kaba -7. Solid, but one bad pass almost lead to a goal. He has that in him.

    Wilmot - 8. Solid.

Sema - 8. Quiet, but brilliant play for the goal. Will be great in this league.

Chalobah - 8.5 - So good to see him back to his best. Looked like the player we all fell in love with. Hope his injury isn't serious.

Garner - 8. Much better today. Very impressive performance given his age. Controls the game. Think when his confidence grows we'll see some more advanced passes.

Cleverley - 9. Brilliant. Doesn't stop running. People on here were slating him, but he is a class above in this league. I think that defensive number 10 is his best position and he is really good at it. A large part of why Luton never got going.

Pedro - 9. His movement and hold up play are a joy to watch. Luton cottoned on to it at first and got really tight, not sure how their CB avoided a booking until the 70th odd minute. Hopefully this goal will set him on his way to 20 this season. If he can improve his finishing he will get that.

Sarr - 9. Too good for this league.

    Suddenly things are looking up...

Feeling gutted actually that we were not there.

Now we need to roll onto deadline day and hope if we lose Suarez we might keep Sarr. Also hope we dont get a proper raft of injuries as the backups that lost to Newport are not on the same level.

    Boom!
Motm for me was Ngakia though everyone had a great game. Impressed with Tom DB when he came on too.
Pedro and Sarr up top in the Championship is playing on easy mode. If Suarez is sticking around too... That strike force will take some beating.
Just a bit frustrated we couldn't bag another few goals - we deserved to - but the team is very much still gelling and getting up to speed.
Feeling a lot better about the season now we know Sarr is involved (and I'm assuming he wouldn't be risked today if a transfer was being negotiated).
    Simply lovely stuff today.

Well that was enjoyable - don't think anyone had a poor game.

Was particularly impressed with Ngakia, he will develop into a great player, West Ham's loss, our gain.

Thought Cleverley ran his socks off today and was my MOTM.

As for the Scummers - they were rank.

My only concern was that we should have won more convincingly and against a better team than the caravan dwellers we may pay for that.

All in all a great weekend - Watford beat L*t*n and Warrington Wolves go top of Super League:)

So ******* happy with that. Every single player did themselves and the club proud today - not one poor performance. Ngakia and Sema were brilliant as were Pedro and Cathcart but for me it was Cleverley who stood out as a class above. As someone who's played at the very highest level, he's going to be so key for us this season and is going to have too much experience and quality about him for a lot of opposition sides.

Also lovely to see Troy come on at the end and put that useless cheating ***** in his place. Can only imagine the roar that that would have provoked in a packed Vic.
