Are they walking to watford? Why would they get an airbnb?? The idea of staying in luton for the away game.... makes my insides feel moribund.
Feeling very apprehensive about this one. The only returning player we might see is Deeney, meaning it will be the weakest side we’ve fielded yet this season.
We've had a dreadful run since the cup final and I can't remember a time where our fanbase has been less connected to the team. It's bloody hard watching a bunch of millionaire players with seemingly little or no attachment to the club throw away everything that had been built. The best way to start rebuilding that relationship is to put these ****s to the sword tomorrow. Take the xenophobic comments from Nathan Jones about how it means more to them because an "Italian playing for Watford won't understand it" and pin it to the dressing room door. Make every player read it before they go out on that pitch so that they understand that that's the opposition manager saying they'll roll into town more up for it and they expect to turn you over. Stir some professional pride in those going out there. Do you want to be Premier League players again or is this the level you now accept, playing this rabble? Mooney and the like are clearly around the club doing media, get them in the dressing room and tell them what this means, point out that the statue of Watford's greatest ever manager has been boarded up because that's how much we hate each other. And ******* get into it from the first minute, if we both turn up and play to our maximum, we'll win. The goodwill that will swirl around the club by putting these arseholes in their rightful place could be a springboard to promotion. Turn up this time lads and you'll write yourself into Watford history. COYH! Let's ******* do them!
I wish the club would stop informing the Luton Manager of our new signings before letting the fans know! What Italian player will be playing for us tomorrow?
Great post. Is there a source for this quote? I hope it's true as it would show they really haven't done their pre-match homework!
If you're not already you should a motivational speaker, very Braveheart, I'm ******* up for this!!!!!
Have paraphrased slightly but here it is if you don't feel too dirty clicking on L*ton Today https://www.lutontoday.co.uk/sport/...-derby-duel-during-luton-playing-days-2982679
All the anger I’ve felt towards the club has completely drifted as today slid by...it was replaced by a complete and utter desire to smash the scum beyond recognition tomorrow (on the pitch of course). Whilst I find it hard to comprehend any Watford fan who says it means no more to them than a normal game, or that they can’t get up for it because of the circumstances, I do understand. But to the former I’d say, trust me...this is a game worth winning as much as any over the last 14 years since playing them. Don’t brush past the rivalry because you’ve never taken part in it...these are our hated rivals so let this be your first taste of it. I haven’t been this nervous for a game in a long, long time. But f*ck me, let’s put our happy-clapping and bedwetting to one side for a morning and get ourselves up for this and be positive in the build up. If the line-up isn’t what we hoped for then ignore it and criticise afterwards if it doesn’t pay-off etc etc. I want us to put our best possible side out. But more than that, I want whatever players we put out to win. And win well. We have enough to worry about without that scummy bunch up the road lording it over us until the return fixture and beyond. COYH.
Derby day. Let's av these Covid breathin' carnival travellin flytippin' C18 worshippin' mutha lovers!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2-0 Watford
I'm excited by today's game and desperate for an improved performance and three points, and a semblance of a settled team. But I couldn't care less about Luton. I worked there as a labourer when 18, long hours putting up the false ceilings in the new Arndale Centre, so my horrible memories of an awful town are only softened by the fact that my job meant I'd be travelling back to Watford on the 321 bus with a pocket full of tenners. Apart from that, Luton is just another town to me. Football wise, they aren't important to me in the slightest. Tribal rivalry in football always seemed daft to me. I used to police the matches between Spurs and Arsenal through the 80's and I always wondered how grown men could get so animated and angry with faceless people wearing a different colour scarf to the extent that there would be many injuries, including stabbings. The sheer hatred I witnessed over a game of football, just puzzles me. And so it does with Watford and Luton. Three points lost or won today, are worth the same as three points lost or won against any other club. So keep calm everybody in front of the TV today, try not to throw anything at the screen, or kick the cat. Luton will still be an awful place to live, they will still have a tinpot ground, and a fully deserved sense of inferiority, whatever the Championship table says. Watford 3 - 0 Luton.
Here we go COYH Please lets be up for this and beat this lot I’ve Missed these games Forgotten how much I hate them
I've been trying to remember the hideous feeling of these matches. Today it's hit me. Vlad,Ben,Troy, all the senior pros please rally the youngsters and galvanise them into a performance worthy of the man behind the protective box. Good luck. See you on the other side everyone. COYH!
I never wanted to play them again but now it’s here, the nerves are back and I just want to smash them. 1-0 would do though
Agree. I think, from our conversations, that you and I are the same age so have similar memories of previous Watford-Luton encounters. This season has felt pretty surreal so far but, this morning, I’ve woken up feeling far more nervous than I have for previous games. I’m also simultaneously wishing we could be there and thankful that we can’t as I’d be feeling even more nervous.
Lovely. Doesn't feel like it's the sort of statement you'd hear today for whatever reason. The modern way seems to be to attempt to deal with things through passive aggressiveness, rather than honesty.
If it is indeed The Pozzo's who are preventing some of our players from playing, then if they have any feeling for the fans they should lift their embargo if only for today and allow Vlad to pick who he wants. Likewise if it is Vlad who is not allowing certain players to play because he does not believe they are 100% committed, then IMO it might be good management to declare a truce with those players if only for today, and gee them up for a one off performance, which they might just respond to if not for the club or us fans, then just for themselves to help get the move they want. One thing Gino could do even if he does nothing else, especially as we have a striker crisis and as Danny is rumoured to be willing to play, is allow Vlad to pick Welbeck regardless of his big match fee.
Today is Derby day , this game does matter more than the others . Today I am missing going to the Vic desperately. I have been to virtually every derby over the last 40 years and it has been an experience ! This game epitomises Good v Evil . The club that GT and Elton built against the scum from their racist hovel. We should be at the Vic singing out hearts out and cheering the Orns on to victory. Seize the day Watford , seize the day.
They just changed the kick off time this week but fair point. For those who don't want to pay the £10 or cannot get 3CR game is on Talksport 2.
Im abroad so not only will I get to watch for £7 but I’ll be 2 hours ahead. I’ll try not to spoil it for the rest of you by posting the result
You're talking about the sort of people who haven't left Luton for generations. It's a big deal for them.
I've only just realised that the earlier KO means I'll miss it as I'm ferrying the kids from swimming to piano.
My son's cello lesson just moved later to 12:30 this week so I'm now reduced to listening on the radio. It's a conspiracy.
Even if they have only just moved the kick off time it seems like poor planning to me. Sky are televising a nothing game between Swansea and Wickham at the same time, when they could be showing *footballs biggest derby game. *in herts/beds
