Reported by the Independent today that we are looking at this lad. I know nothing about him. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...iorfa-latest-sheffield-wednesday-b596184.html
Played against us last week and was voted as PotS for Weds last season. A number of Prem clubs have looked at him as well. Right footed central defender. I think this one is unlikely, as he seems quite decent. Looking at the Weds forum, they seem to rate him and put him in the bracket of going to the Prem sooner or later. They regard him as around £10m, which I would think would price him out of our range right now. Maybe a loan with an option to buy for £10m, should be go up. £2m loan fee up front.......might just tempt them.
I think this one seems unlikely but only if/because we’re bringing in Troost-Ekong. Wouldn’t want to bring in both as then we would have 7 CBs (6 if you presume the departure of Dawson) - all right footed. Iorfa has really good experience at this level - over 150 games - and only just turned 25. Has played much of his career as a right back but looks like Garry Monk converted him to a CB last season. Always good to have versatile players in the squad. But I do think it’s either him or Troost-Ekong. I wonder if that deal has hit a snag or if this report is of interest from a few weeks ago only filtering through now.
He’s a lot better than any option we currently have, and can actually play a little unlike the majority of our centre backs. Get it done.
Wouldn't Ekong be here already if he was coming? Anyways Iorfa looks a decent player, better than what we have? Yes I believe so and a decent age.
Supposedly he's remaining at Udi for an extra week to cover for an injured CB. Could be true. Could be BS. We just don't know.
I don’t know. Several people on here seem pretty certain he’s joining and Udinese are signing another CB (Kevin Bonifazi) in the next couple of days. Either way, can’t see both Iorfa and Troost-Ekong joining. Can’t really see either of them joining unless Dawson is off. Wednesday fans on twitter hoping that they price us out of a move. Seem to really like him.
Not kept up with the Championship over recent years, much less Wednesday. Why would they be interested in selling him, surely we're not so rife with cash that we'd knock their socks off. Are they desperate for cash? He played against us so he can't be out of favour. What is the back story? p.s. I'm not terribly concerned by which foot is dominant in a centre back as long as he can hit a decent pass with at least one of them.
Remember he and Kourtney Hause broke through at the same time at Wolves and were very highly rated. Iorfa was actually the supposed better of the 2 so interesting that Hause has gone on to PL football whilst Iorfa has fallen down to the lower reaches of the Championship. Think both were jettisoned by Wolves once the Portuguese contingent came along...
Maybe we could be looking at some sort of player swap deal as we might have someone they are interested in?
From everything I’ve read we should expect him to walk into our back line really. That would probably help convince him we are a good move.
One thing I really like about the videos with him is he really works hard to get to the dead ball line before making a cross. GT would have loved to have coached him.
AL has said: "Situation with Iorfa is there is definitely interest in the player and that has dated back to before the meeting at Hillsborough, think if moves could be sorted for others (Dawson, maybe other(s)) then they could repurpose money for the signing but not entirely clear at the moment. Lots of reshuffling to do."
I am not really sure there is anything to know at the moment to be fair. T-Ekong seems likely to be coming. Dawson seems likely to leaving. Until one or both happen, I guess any links to centre backs are probably rubbish.
My sources say that Watford are interested in the player, but are waiting to follow up their interest. It will all come down to selling an equivalent player and getting a deal the Pozzos think is fair. #ITK
Exclusive: I can confirm the interest, that was reported elsewhere, may or may not be true, and might happen or might not depending on blah, blah why do I bother with this? I'm not fooling anyone. I only left Sky to become an Athletic Premier League correspondent, and now I'm stuffed too.
