Maybe, but I’m going to go out on a limb and puts this in writing. Within the next 2 seasons we are all going to be mad that we didn’t sign him saying, we could have signed him £6mil.
Only after we sign a couple more right backs, my friend. Probably injury prone ones. Can't have too many.
With the news that there will be no crowds for six months or so a lot of lower league clubs are going to be struggling to survive. Surely it can't be beyond the wit of our scouting network to identify the two or three most promising young left backs that played regularly last season and recommend one of them. It's pretty much what Bournemouth did to move up the divisions, just use their financial muscle to sign high performing young players from the lower leagues. And they don't come with the premium of Premier League or Championship prices, nor wages.
His numbers are mental, Perry NG on the other side isn’t too bad either. Don’t think it would cost much to get the pair and develop them. Pickering in particular can be a really really good player.
Hayden Roberts - 18yr old left-sided CB from Brighton. Can also play LB. Very highly rated and Leeds have already had bids rejected. Rumours being they see him as a Ben White mark II. Brighton want to keep him but are looking for a loan for him. Drawbacks are his age and no senior experience. He’s been capped at England youth level.
This has the numbers. Not encouraging. Doesn't sound like the help package from government will be the whole solution. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-get-government-money-to-keep-clubs-alive-efl
Oh yeah, we're a shambles, but we'll muddle through this. As much as our squad are full of ********* who we all want out, they are also assets who can fetch a fee at some point Was talking to a Wycombe fan earlier (from Chalfont St Peter-a Hornet that got away?), and he said the teams that went up from League 1 should be fine if they live within their means, but the teams in the Champo who spend beyond their means, or the teams stuck in L1/L2 are in for a very tough time...
Ben Watson? Getting on now but was a key player for Forest last season & is looking for a move back down south.
He’s also 35. We need this type of player. But not specifically this player. Would be an incredibly worrying sign if we were interested.
BREAKING NEWS Manchester City are in talks to sign Sevilla centre-back Jules Kounde. Signing a second centre-back after Nathan Ake is their priority before the October 5 deadline and the 21-year-old Frenchman has emerged as the preferred target. With news like this, we really should be signing Tosin Adarabioyo from Man City. Solid CB, last year of his contract, had a great season on loan in the championship last season. I just don’t get why we aren’t going for CB’s like him. Instead we are signing Troost-Ekong.
Masina injured on 29/8 against Scunthorpe and out until at least November. Must also have been obvious to the club that Estupiñan was leaving. Nearly a month down the line and still no senior left back in the squad, with us four games into the season, about to play our fifth. Baffling even by our recent standards.
Not sure about that. It's a slightly more specialist position and the transfer market is clearly all over the place. Plus I still think we need to sell to buy. It's a position that needs filling but I expect it'll go to the wire.
If we are to stick with the back 3, Sema is a fairly highly regarded left wing back and a number of decent Italian clubs were looking at him for that position. The issue is that because of our poor midfield and the inability to pass out from the back, we just aren't getting him into the attacking positions a wing back should be playing in. What we don't know is if we are playing the back 3 because Ivic wants to, or because the only left sided defensive available can only really play wing back. Either way, it would be nice to give him the flexibility to play with a back 4 or a back 3.
I'm not sure it's that specialist, I'd say every club that plays football has some sort of left sided defender, whether a full back or wing back! Maybe the club are planning to keep Kiko as he can do a job there but he's mysteriously disappeared without trace and is linked to moves away...
We've looked fairly solid playing 3 central defenders but if Sarr is fit we could could 4-3-3 Something like Foster Ngakia Cathcart Kabasele Sema Cleverley Garner Chalobah Sarr Deeney/Murray Pedro I much prefer this to 3-5-2
I think Sema is a bit wasted at left back where he isn't going to get much as much chance to get forwards and put crosses in. I also don't think he is necessarily a good enough defender to play left back, but then again we played Masina there most of last year.
Leventhal suggested on his QandA that we’re looking at a loan, potentially from the Prem, for the new LWB, though Manning and Giannoulis still at least somewhat in the frame. If it were to be a PL loan, who would people like to see/think it will be? I thought of Sessegnon or Brandon Williams, should United bring in Telles or a different new LB - both very ambitious though and probably beyond us - but interested to hear who people think we should/will be targeting.
Not sure I’d want someone who has played no senior football. Chelsea have two young Dutch right backs who also have little senior experience. Liverpool have Larouci and Jones. The latter is very versatile and has played often as a LM. Very highly rated but they might want to keep hold of him and/or see him develop as a CM. I think they’re looking to sell Larouci. Leicester have a LB Luke Thomas who made his debut at the end of last season.
