Sky sports reporting he would be of interest to Burnley, if tarkowski leaves for West Ham.

Bye bye. Was a massive reason we went down, can't defend for sh*t and only played about 4 good games all season!

    No loss whatsoever!

A consecutive hat trick of relegations. What a fine record that would be.

Could work out well. They're after north of £30m for Tarkowski and Dawson's contract is until 2023 so one would hope we'd be able to screw £8m+ out of them and either reinvest, get someone in on loan or keep someone else who is more valuable to the squad.

A shame as if he could play all the time like his good games, then he'd be a real asset but West Brom fans were pretty unanimous that he was rubbish in the Championship last time.

So last season we were interested in Gibson, perhaps to replace Dawson.

Now Burnley will have shipped Gibson and an even better CB, and are looking to replace them with Dawson who wasn't that good for us?

    Odd.

Dyche knows a good defender when he sees one. Can't see it being true.

The level of pi$$ boiling in Burnley if they replace Tarkowski with Dawson will be incredible.

Well for one, I don't see West Ham stumping up enough cash to buy Tarkowski, and even if Tarkowski does go, you'd think Burnley would be able to find someone better? They've arguably got rid of someone better

But hey, if it does happen, I don't think anyone will be disappointed, he wasn't outstanding for West Brom in the Championship two seasons ago. Get some cash for him, and bring in a left footed player, who's hopefully better on the ball, and I'd be delighted

    Well.

    Why would Burnley do this?

And why would Tarkowski want to go to West Ham, come to that?

No need to go to the London Stadium for that empty soulless feeling - now there's no fans allowed, you can get the same atmosphere anywhere.

Dawson is one of the most brain-dead defenders you could ever have in a team (and one that includes Kabasele at that!). The challenge for the penalty at Arsenal 30 seconds in was mind-bogglingly stupid, as was when he barged someone over for the free kick Ward-Prowse scored a minute after we'd somehow got back in that game. Just so impulsive, no comprehension of the need to be disciplined at a critical point in the game.

Something to with typing skills of Northerners Vs. lovable cockneys?

    Or just the cash?

Surely if he's that good he'd want to move UP the table from Burnley??

As long as we replace him (and don't give Mariappa a call) I'd be happy with him leaving.

Personally I thought Dawson was one of the players that stepped up their performance after lock down, if others had done the same I am sure we would have stayed up. I think his first outing at home against Brighton sealed his fate among the faithful. But I would prefer him to Wilmott.

no chance that Tarkowski will go to West Ham.

He did in fairness, but still, it doesn't change the fact that he's a very average centre back who even in the Championship we can improve upon. No chance I prefer him to Wilmot, who's not only a very promising defender, but also far more comfortable with the ball at his feet

He's crap. If a Premier League club is genuinely stupid enough to give us actual money for him (as we were stupid enough to do for West Brom) then he is certainly one player I would not p*ss and moan about leaving.

Also massive lol at preferring him to Wilmot.

He played well for a game or two after the lockdown but did still make mistakes or get caught out ...

    Then again who didn't!

We've only seen Wilmott a couple of times this season.

Hard to compare yet but he must at least be quicker !

Dyche gets all hot and bothered whenever a Northern centre half becomes available. He probably knows he's not good enough, but the poor chap can't resist his urges

If we got 8m for him, that would rank as one of our best transfer deals of the past few years.

I’d say 4m is more the mark and even then, probably full of caveats.

I don’t think Mariappa, for all that he was useless last season, would be a bad player to have around this term and at this level. (Steps away from firework)

He is one or two good performances after the restart, but I’m pretty sure he Relapsed into utter crap again.

It wasn’t just the Brighton game either. He was consistently slow, stupid and without any on the ball ability during the whole season.

I guess he was as bad as Our other centre backs and probably no worse, but the fact that we brought him in, rather than improving on our standards would have contributed to the fans’ ambivalence towards him.

Selling him to Burnley for free would rank as one of our best transfers deals ever, let alone £8m.

To be fair perhaps it is the former.

Depends what motivates him. If west ham decide to pay him 100k a week (which surely would surprise nobody) and Everton 80k, maybe he would take the higher option...

Wouldn’t be straight seasons as he spent a year stinking out the championship before we brought him in to ‘bolster’ our defence.

Agreed but it we be a good chance to bring someone in to CB who at least has the potential to be decent in the PL if we did go back up.

We know Kabasele and Cathcart aren't good enough in the PL anymore and I'd be very surprised if Sierallta makes it at that level either. Having Mariappa would add another who may do a job in the Championship but would give us the same old problems if we went up.

Wilmot does look a lot better than Dawson on the ball, is quicker and has a lot of potential. However on my fairly limited viewing and speaking to a few Swansea fans he isn't the best in the air.

There are a sides in the championship who rely on hoofball and set pieces, and Dawson would be a good asset to have against them.

Also wouldn't surprise you at all if Dawson chipped in with a good number of goals as we looked strangely quite good on set pieces against Boro.

Sadly I feel he’s one of a group we have who we would find it very difficult to shift.
