If you offered that to me now, I would take it in a flash! Europa Conference League here we come, woo!
I don't think winning a title could ever be deemed Watfordy. Get to the final and then get thrashed 9-0 by City's reserves, followed by relegation seems more apt.
When is the pre-match conferences for these games? wondering if we'll get any hint of squad use, or if it will still be a list of 17 players have a 'slight knock'
Presumably we will have to use this as a de facto pre season friendly? Expect a bunch of random players to play and maybe one or two of the want-away players.
I can't say I'm excited as such, but fascinated is right. I really want to see all the 'wantaways' play and what would then happen. It might be pretty bad for the 'wanttostays' moral so it almost certainly wont happen how I want. but if it was on the computer I'd defo be putting out all of them, except maybe Welbz if that 50-70k per match thing is true.
That woudl presumably be the U23 then now, as there isn't really anyone else left. Which is why I am particuarly fascinated by how this pans out.
U23 team playing today gives some idea for tomorrow although not a lot! The new season begins for @Oriza8Riza's U23s this afternoon v @ColU_Official (2pm KO)! Baptiste (GK), Barrett, Trialist, Conteh, Spencer-Adams (C), Burchell, Hungbo, McKiernan, Hutchinson, Lo-Everton, Forster. Roberts (GK), Perkins, Lawal, Hunter, Janjeva. https://t.co/kJbjorurN0
Ivic was asked in his conference if we would see the likes of Welbeck and Sarr play tomorrow. He said some of them will play, but didn't say who for obvious reasons. Should be an interesting line-up.
Anyone slightly more familiar with the u23 squad than me who can say who is missing from this squad? I can think of Dan Phillips, Sam Dalby, Henry Wise(still here?), Kane Crichlow("")... any others?
Tring? Athletic or Town? You have to aim higher than that. Next you will telling me you'll settle for playng in the Berko Sunday league. No contract, but two pints free. No lift to the games, make your own way.
There was a Tring Town, but money Athletic bought them out. I played against both. Town played at Pendley? Athletic played up on some hillside pitch in the Town somewhere.
Just watched the interview with Vlad on the club site, I like this guy more every time I see him. He seemed to suggest he will taking the league cup seriously, he also said he was aware of the Estupinan situation which seems to confirm that he is most likely going to be leaving. He was asked about the 17 that were missing on the opening day and he said that some of them will be taking some part against Oxford; they tried to find out who, but he said he prefers to keep his starting 11 to himself till just before the game, so it looks like he will be doing that all the time. Hopefully we will see a strong side tomorrow night if Vlad means what he said about taking every game seriously, and who knows if that is the case maybe we might have another Wembley visit to look forward to in the not to distant future.
I know what Vlad said but my attempt is: Bachmann, Sierralta, Dawson, Bennett, Kabasele, Phillips, Dele-Bashiru, Navarro, Penaranda, Crichlow, Pussetto Options / Subs Sinclair, Sema, Cleverley, Agyakwa, ano defender x 2
Yes.....it was a good interview. Getting a bit more information out of watertight Watford. He doesn't dodge too many questions and he gives good detail, even expanding voluntarily on some of his answers. I just hope the board do not let him down and make promises which they do not keep. I think you'll quickly know about it if they do, just as you could see the wheels come off under Silva or Gracia, who was clearly disappointed with some of the deals. He said he'll be involved in the decision if we let Estupinan go, however, I think he's under the impression we'll get a good player in to replace him, which is something I wouldn't be too confident about. I think good wingbacks are very important to the way he wants to play. Estupinan and Ngakia's positions maybe the most important in the entire team. If he rubber stamps a sale, then you've got to say fair enough, but if it's done without his approval, then there's a problem, and from his comments after Boro I believe he didn't know about the developments with Estupinan at that point. Now he's clearly under the impression Suarez will be part of things, and maybe he will, but the fact he didn't mention Welbeck or Sarr as part of his striking options is a worry. Ok, we know about Welbeck being highly likely to go, but Sarr is our box office player and very little is being said about him, even in the press conference. He talked about 5 strikers being Gray, Murray, Suarez, Percia and Pedro. If he's including Pedro as a striker then he has to consider Sarr too in that conversation. He mentioned Deeney could be still part of the plan also. I was pleased to hear the door is not closed on Deeney, and seeing as I'm virtually the only one who posts on here that's happy about that, I'll gladly promote my pleasure. https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co...atford-vladimir-ivic-transfers-deeney-4513884
I've not made my mind up about Deeney, in theory he should be really good at this level, so he might be well worth keeping. However, the downside of keeping him could be if he continues to want to play Billy Big Bolarks, as that might be toxic for team moral. The jury is out on him for me, if he knuckles down and just gets on with playing like he can all well and good, but he must accept he will most likely no longer be "Mr Watford" which is what he considers himself to be and just another member of the squad. Therefore if he can gain a little bit of humility he could still do a job for us at this level, but if he can't he's probably better off leaving.
