Suarez wants to play for Spain who arent ever going to call up player from the second division with the bonkers depth they have.

Maybe we'll keep Sarr or Deulofeu until January, but that's about it. No one else will be with us by the end of this window, be it out on loan or sold.

Personally I feel very let down with the mixed messages of "we're aiming to win the league" then selling every player will the ability to achieve that ambition.

Yes but they will still be aiming to win the league. Ivic will still be sacked if we aren't challenging near the top. It will be his fault. That's how they roll....

Hasn’t that speculation about the Richarlison fee been largely debunked now that accounts have shown it to be what Everton media claimed, rather than the £40m claimed by Watford whisperers?

You took a player from us. We value him at 10m. Give us 15m for our hot young striker prospect and call it done. No questions asked.

The meltdown is a moot point because it didn’t happen and the owners clearly wouldn’t care.

The fact is, we still got relegated, we still need to sell those players and we will now probably get 1/2-2/3 of what we could have got.

Looking at the top goal scorers in the Spanish second division over the last 5 o 6 years and not one player has gone on to bigger things. Maybe 15 million would be good business as it looks like anyone can score goals in the second division.

I think he'll go but I think the Marseille thing is ********. There was an article a couple of days ago that said they were interested in him and made an approach but couldn't afford him so it was over. Think this has been mistranslated and interpreted as them making the approach now.

If we sell to Marseille now, after the Gueye debacle, we'll seal our spot as an absolute joke of a team.

And even so, he's a bit of a luxury player, a decent, but not particularly outstanding top flight player. For the record, I fancy Suarez would do well in the Championship, surely it's not THAT much of a step up from the Segunda, and he's physical enough not to get bullied, yet quick at the same time. No clue how much we'd get for him, but I'd be surprised if Marseille offered much more than what we're getting for Estupinan. Hard to say what we 'should' get for him, normally the kind of player who gets that many goals in the Segunda is available for less than £10m, but those players aren't normally owned by a recently relegated Premier League club!

The club just need to stop being pathetic and put their foot down and say at this point in time you are our best striker and unless someone pays over the odds you are not going anywhere until next summer. He can either man up and play well and get his big move then or he can waste a year of his career riding the bench of a championship club and see what it does for his career.

If he goes I just do not see us scoring enough goals to get promoted and what ******* good is £15-20m pounds in 2 years time when we are stuck down here with no parachute payments.

Exactly right. These offers we're getting for our best talent aren't exactly offers we can't refuse. They are just lowball fees, which we're accepting.

It's like they see every player as toxic, and need to go for whatever they can get for them.

You've said this about 100 times. I want players playing for us that want to play for us. If Suarez wants to go then accept a bid and we'll move on. Maybe selling Suarez means we can keep Sarr til at least Jan? Id take that. I doubt 2% of us have seen Suarez play but everyone's disgusted that he's going to go for a 7 figure sum? Do me a favour.

They have spent the last few years signing half of the bad eggs from other clubs like Capoue, Kaboul, Niang, Carillo, Dawson, Deulofeu who all came with reputations for having bad attitudes.

We have had Success, Penaranda and Gray embarrassing the club with their off field behaivour.

How much of a bad influence can one player be if he is just a little bit upset he didn't get his move

Selling our best striker just to allow us to keep Sarr for another 3 or 4 months is horrific business. Do me a favour.

Id rather get promoted with a bunch of players who couldn't give a **** than have a squad of useless cloggers who care about the club. If that was all we wanted we should have kept Gomes and Mariappa.

Bit of a newsflash - but I doubt many of our squad ‘want to play for Watford’ but I expect many of them accept it and realise it’s part of the journey to move on to bigger things. The worry for me is that we seemingly can’t get any of the better players to knuckle down and follow the same mindset at least.

I accept some players need to go. I accept we need to raise funds. But alongside those things, from the outside looking in, I also think the club needs to show a bit of backbone with some of these players/agents.

One thing that tickles me - for an owner and ‘model’ that has always boasted about how far and wide it stretches and how many agents they know etc, they do appear to be regularly shafted by these agents more and more.

We seemingly do them a favour by getting their clients into European football etc and where the money is - and then they still agitate for their players go elsewhere. And we do nothing about it.

What a fu*king model that is.

Suarez hasnt scored a goal in England but did well in spanish div 2. I would say Sarr is better. And we will not get promoted with players who don't give a **** regardless of how many of them were once wanted by Barca. The upheaval and pain you're suffering now will pass and you'll feel the love again soon.

Is he - never seen the bloke play.

Would he have suited the Championship and score a number of goals?

    Vydra like...

Or just get kicked around and probably end up like most other strikers we seem to get.

    Guess we'll never know.

I presume it would have been one of him or Pedro up anyway.

Sarr has played 20 games of his whole career as a striker and he has never scored more than 8 goals in a season. I don't disagree that he is a better player than Suarez, but I dont think he is a better striker and I don't think it would be a good idea for us to shoehorn him into a position that doesn't necessarily suit him. Suarez is a goal scorer - something we don't really have other than Glenn Murray who is prehistoric.

Our best season in 30 odd years came with Deulofeu, Capoue, Doucoure Pereyra all having good seasons - and it is pretty clear none of them really cared. If the players are brought into the fold and we start winning - I am sure some will care, but not out of a great love for Watford. They want to get promoted for their own careers.

Lets not forget - Barnes forced a move to Liverpool. Blisset moved to Milan when he had the chance. Graham Taylor moved on when he had a chance. We are a small club and players / managers come here because they want to go on to better things. Some fall in love on the way, but very few start out giving a ****.

Quite true - Gray might look a bit better in the Championship though.

Success should have been a decent physical player but simply hasn't cut it.

And Murray probably won't be much more than an impact sub.

We'd certainly have to get another more proven striker I feel as cannot rely on poor Pedro and as you say Sarr isn't a natural centre forward even if he did stay.

If it were up to me, we wouldn't be shoehorning Sarr as a striker much, just when Gray and possibly JP are unavailable, he'd still be used primarily as a winger/inside forward. As much as I think Suarez would be good at this level, there's nothing to suggest he's gonna bang 25 goals this season, I don't think he'd score that many more than Gray. Sarr may not have been that prolific (though he was our top scorer last season if you take away penalties, make of that what you will), but he's played at a high level his whole career, so surely he can get into double figures if he stays, if it's a choice between Suarez and Sarr (which it might not necessarily be), it's a no-brained for me to keep Sarr

Agreed. If Sarr is available he should play on the right of a front three, Pedro on the left and Gray (or Suarez if he somehow stays) in the middle. That works in a 3-4-3, or a 4-3-3 if we end up using that at some point.

If i'm honest, I have seen absolute nothing of Suarez, so am not disappointed if he goes. A lot of this forum seem to be infatuated with him off 1 good season in the Spanish 2nd league - rightly or wrongly. There's plenty of people who've done it overseas and not done it in England. If we get a good fee for him, and it helps us stay afloat - great.

I personally think that the majority of players who aren’t involved presently would just prefer a move - I’m not sure that equates to ‘not giving a ****’. The odd one or two maybe but that’s all. Most of them are professionals, will have standards and will still want to score goals/win games etc whoever they turn out for. I’ve no doubt that he will leave - but should Suarez stay, I’d say it’s unlikely he’s just gonna play out the season half heartedly. He, like the vast majority will get their head down again and just give his best I bet. And he will celebrate when we win, when he scores and be fu*ked off if we lose....if he’s here...which he won’t be.

Agree. I'd love to see him stay as he seems to have a load of great attributes but if it's a choice between Suarez and Sarr to balance the books it's Sarr every day. The fact that big clubs are supposedly interested in Suarez is probably a good sign that last season was a sign of things to come rather than a flash in the plan or an indication that he's found his level. Then again Belkalem was linked with Dortmund before we signed him so it could be the work of his agent...

His highlight reel is very impressive but it's a similar watch to that of Javi Acuna, who scored 1 less goal in the same division 7(seven!) years ago. I was sure he was going to tear the Championship a new one

Yep. Ivics comments about those wanting to give 100% stick though. Suarez clearly has a personal planned trajectory of last season "2nd" division and this season "top" division. This season would have been a choice of premier league or sell him, and we'd not have batted an eyelid if he was flogged off like Lukebakio, now with his option of championship or sell him to a top league I kow as a player what I'd rather do. But we need him more than we would in the premier league.

Quite possibly in 3 weeks time when the window slams shut, we'll have sold 60-75% of the "unavailable" 17 and the other 25-40% left over will happily trickle back into a coherent and happy squad of players who are giving it all. With any who still want out being moved in Jan.
