It's obviously a matter of opinion, but personally think that your midfield is overstated by 5 or 6 goals, and the defence by another 5 or 6. We scored from a set piece on Friday but have never been very good at it, whilst expecting Penaranda, Chalobah and Cleverley to score 9 between would get you good odds I'd imagine.

Would be happy if I were proved wrong and all of these players could chip in, but not having a razor sharp goalscorer that could put away the hatful of chances we made was our undoing last year and believe it will continue to be without either Suarez or an equally potent striker added to the pack.

Until the window closes it pointless trying to guess who will be at the club to score goals. I seriously doubt we're scoring more than 50 something though.

 

Hughes has an average of about 2-3/46 in the Championship, with a lot of those early games off the bench, and with him being a better player now than when he was at Derby (he scored at about a rate of 3/46 in the Premier League), so I think 3 is fair enough for him. Chalobah averages about 5/46, is he as good as when he first burst on the scene for us? Maybe, maybe not, so I think 3 is a fair target (3 for Cleverley is a guess tbf, not much to go on there). There may be a few goals from other midfielders too (Dele-Bashiru and Phillips maybe, as well as potential signings). Having a quick look at each Championship team's goals from defenders last season, 10 would be above average, so maybe I've overegged it there, but I don't see us having the same woes from set pieces again this season. Think 6 goals from our backup wingers is realistic when you consider the games they'll play. What I did forget to mention was own goals, there were just over 50 in the league last season, you'd hope with us being one of the better teams in the division, and maybe with Ivic's sides utilising a lot of cutbacks, we'll get a higher than average number there

 

Pussetto got 4 in 35 for Udinese 2 seasons ago. He'd be good for 6 or 7 if we keep him (and he plays)

 

If he can get even 5 goals for us if we sell him and he doesn't play, that'd be an outstanding achievement.

Perhaps we could give him to Bournemouth and he could go for an og record when they play us

Was amazed when I saw him given a number as I just assumed he had gone back to Udinese. I'm sure his presence among the substitutes was just to make up the numbers. Don't think he's suited to English football anyway, Premier League or Championship

 

He will never play for us. You know it. I know it. We all know it. We are just in varying levels of denial about it, as with the others in the same situation.

 

Yeah, you're probably right there, even if he gets a work permit, there's only a slight chance of him staying if we go back up, and no chance if we don't. If he is to leave, I just hope he's not in the final year of his contract!

As I said the other day the famed Pozzo model is dead. In 8 years it hasn't produced a single player for the side. If I were CEO I'd make Giraldi and most of his global team redundant.
