I believe someone who has mentioned a Norwegian and a Danish players on here. Both would be very cheap Hauge 13 goals, 7 assists in 16 Zickernagel 13 goals, 15 assists in 17 I'm too stupid to add YouTube videos. Sorry
Bournemouth fans absolutely hated him. Said he was good for free kicks but general play was terrible.
Ahhh fair enough. I just thought he may hit the profile we want and if we can help him hit his supposed promise, could be a decent shout. £20m is a lot though.
In fairness, I don't know what Derby fans thought the previous season and might be better suited to the Championship. He doesn't fit my imaginary profile of what the club should be aiming for anyway, he's too meek and mild. I want a team full of real men and *********s.
Doubt we'll be able to get him at all, let alone on a permanent deal, as Premier League clubs are in for him. Always did strike me as a set-piece merchant, which is not necessarily a bad thing, especially for us, but even at Derby I remember his general play was mediocre
I've watched every single game of his live in the stadium and can tell you he normally comes in off the left like every other player ever.
https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sp...esbrough-watford-maccabi-tel-aviv-glazer/amp/ Dan Glazer linked with us, Rangers and Boro, according to this. Don’t know if they’re just extrapolating from what we already know - that he was a top player for our coach - or if there’s now more legs to this.
Whilst he was good for MTA and knows the manager, Grimes and Busquets I would think are a clear level above him - especially Busquets.
Seen the name suggested before but... Nathan Phillips - CB at Liverpool who played 23 times for Stuttgart as they won promotion, looks interesting and someone we should maybe hold interest in. Bristol City, Blackburn and Swansea all interested and Liverpool apparently will consider permanent and loan offers. Ethan Ampadu - obviously Chelsea won’t let him go permanently. But highly promising CB who is comfortable on the ball. Saw Giggs challenged him the other night and suggested he needs a season of regular football to progress.
After seeing the team today, I think we need another CB, at least 2 CMs for depth and, if Suarez is off, another centre forward
Surely Ampadu won't go to the Championship, granted he didn't play that much, but he was on loan at one of the top clubs in Europe last season
And didn’t play much at all. He’s 19 - if they want him to be playing regularly next season, Championship or a lesser Euro league looks the best option.
I think he was expected to be involved more at Leipzig to be fair, I'm sure he'd play regularly at a mid-table Premier League club (at either CB or CM)
Tomori is apparently close to joining Everton on loan, will we renew our supposed interest in Branthwaite then?
Was just wondering the same thing. Think he looks a good player but not sure he is (yet) a cut above Dawson/Cathcart/Kabasele. And can't see us getting an option to buy or anything like that if he exceeds expectations. Anthony Gordon is the only Everton youngster I'd want on a 'dry' loan.
I've been more impressed with Branthwaite than Gordon when seeing them both. Gordon has reminded me of a young Hughes stuck on the wing when I've seen him, i.e. a battler, but not particularly threatening and incapable of beating a player, which is very limiting for a wide player. Branthwaite would actually be better on the ball than our other CBs, plus he is left-footed which is something we don't currently have and would be useful in a back 3. I suspect he could also fill-in at LB in case we had to switch to a back 4 for whatever reason which could be handy with Masina out. Not sure Tomori joining Everton would def make Branthwaite available, as it could be to cover for Holgate depending on how serious his injury is, but if it's not a particularly severe one then it should be possible.
