Would rather keep Navarro and move on Femenia given the chance. Navarro offers a different defensive option to Ngakia (better in the air, more of a traditional fullback, can play centre back as well as on the right), much like Masina does to Estupinan, whilst being considerably cheaper.
Does anybody? He's only played about 5 games in his career. Don't understand why some are happy with him as a squad option. Cash in.
Not last season. The season before he joined us I think? Would hardly be a shock. Break through at a La Liga side, join us and immediately frozen out or find out he doesn’t fit the shape/tactics...another name in the books alongside Brice Dja-Djedje etc. Could be that Navarro is a handy player. We never ever were given the chance to see!
Nope. Started ten games. In fact he's only started 24 senior league games in his whole career and is now 25 years old! He's a non-footballing footballer.
Ahh fair enough. I didn’t look too deeply and just saw a load of appearances but 50%+ must’ve been off the bench. Still given the state of our defenders, inclined to give him a fresh start and see what he’s like. Femenia hardly covered himself in glory last season and Janmaat is made of glass.
It's a long season packed with so many games next season so we may need non-footballers at times. Navarro and 50/50 winners may need to play.
Agree to a point. I would prefer the guys we played last year over him though. Reckon Cathcart, Kabasele and Dawson could be decent under Ivic. It often just needs the right coach to organise a defence. Should be enough for this level imo.
Uber-defensive QSF couldn’t sort them out. Not writing them off but I want us to build a CB partnership for years to come. Those 3 have proven it’s not to be them beyond the Championship. Personally I’d keep Dawson and Cathcart and let Kabasele go. But I wouldn’t have Cathcart and Dawson as partnership as they are very similar.
I agree. If we go up, none of them should be starters. QSF was defensive, but he was tactically awful. All I'm saying is these guys are capable, given the right coaching, to be a solid unit this year.
Maybe this Busquests chap could be the answer. Played at the back last year apparently and is a much better ball player which is what we have needed. Sign him and Grimes and we could solve some of our issues
After tonight's game it seems it's no coincidence that Marc Navarro is an anagram of Am natverrygood.
When suggesting in another thread that he might be a suitable backup at right back in another thread I had clearly forgotten how bad he was. Worst performance I've seen someone put in in a Watford shirt in the past decade.
I cannot believe how slow he is. Looked like he was running through treacle. Seems to have tissue paper legs as well. He is like Janmaat but without the technical ability.
