If we can get a comparable fee from someone outside the Premier League it probably makes sense for the group to sell to someone other than Udinese. As others have pointed out, it's doubtful whether Pereyra is good enough to fill de Pauls boots anyway so better for both clubs to have/keep the cash and recruit elsewhere.
Yep they're all leaving right at the last minute and we will have a couple of Udinese not-even-reserves and a crocked Alfie Mawson to replace them
I see Leeds United are confirmed as having an interest in Rodrigo de Paul of Udinese, a price of €35m-€40m being mooted. A move to Udinese for Pereyra if that were to happen?
Bobby P back in training gear, alongside Peñaranda. Still think he'll go but quite surprised to see him in the rather fetching mint green training kit as thought he'd be the first out of the door.
That's surprised me too. Maybe we'll have more for the kick off then previously suspected. I'd mentally dismissed him, but would be more than happy to have him around next season. I spotted Navarro in the background too, so he's now training with the team.
I reckon we'll have a majority of the squad for the start of the season. If they'll play would be another story. I imagine some have mentally left so wouldn't put a shift in, but hopefully one or two who want to leave, and perhaps haven't attracted as much interest as they thought might play and treat it as a shop window.
Mentally he looked checked out last season so I'd rather get him out of the door if he is still feeling that way. When he isn't in the mood he offers very little.
Hasn’t Giaretta said something to Italian media regarding pre-season and saying those who will be leaving, won’t be playing. Wouldn’t surprise me to see some of our supposedly better players kicking around at training until nearer the end of the window.
Not that I am fussed if we lose Pereyra, but I feel we are pretty short there with only Pedro and Sema (maybe and Penaranda?) .
Pass. Haven't seen any statements from Giaretta - Would be interested to have a read if anyone has them
I think that came from @louorns twitter, but I can't see the article he is referring to. The only statement from Giaretta recently is https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/a-tu-per-tu/con-cristiano-giaretta-1425916 but I can't see anything to that effect.
And Suarez (though we'd rather keep him CF when possible I suspect). Also Delboy and Cucho if/when they're back.
Apparently we've offered him to Roma for 12m euro but they reckon if they hang on a few weeks we'll basically give him to them such will be our desperation to sell. https://insidefutbol.com/2020/09/09/watford-midfielder-offered-to-serie-a-giants/471450/
With Pereyra, we do need to sell him in this window or else his value will depreciate as his contract is coming to an end. He wants to go, and I thought it would be an easy switch over to Udinese for £15m, but because of their foreign slots being already filled, that option is not possible right now. It's looking likely we'll have all these players still on the books, and hope they play well in our shop window before the end of the October close date. If Pereyra rips it up in the Championship, I'm sure that would be noticed and clubs will remember how good he can be again which may entice someone to make a bid.
I can see him going to Roma. They've picked up a few injuries but it's all down to money. They're suffering along with most clubs.
