With David Luiz going to Arsenal, it won’t be Zouma.

Never mind, little tin pot Watford out bidding the mahoosive blues from merseyside with all that history. Nah on a serious note being A manc probably turned him off also he doesn’t have to move he still got the same drive to work everyday.

Haaaaahaaaahaaa you lot have been getting ****ed off left right and centre. Chucking those Iranian dollars about like confetti and nobody wants it. Must be annoying for a mahoosive club like you. If Slither does well with what he’s got ( which I think he will) manure will be taking him and Ricky too old traffics by end of Jan.

I fancy selling him in Europe now, maybe to PSG. It would freshen up the team and force a change of formation and give opportunities to Quina (when fit) and the ex City guy.

Yep. Selling our most important player would certainly freshen up the team. If Quina and the ex City guy are better than him, they would be playing now.

You have to grow and evolve as a team. We look like we have stood still re midfield and defence.
He is no longer our most important player, still a very good player and will do well for us if he stays but I believe we will do well if and when he leaves.

  10. Burnsy

He is our most important player. Even if he’s off form, the team has never looked the same when he’s missing.

I don’t hate the idea of selling him - but if we were doing it, (or when we do) - it should be on our terms and when we are able to reinvest the money to strengthen the squad. To sell him now weakens us and the team would likely never see the money reinvested into it.

Sell him for £50m and buy a replacement for £20m and a quality CB for £20m and bank £10m sounds okay to me. Selling him now makes now sense at all.

Of the 11 who started on Saturday no-one is more important. If we sell him in January it will only be because he wants to leave and we get a massive fee that we can reinvest in the team in the same window.

Selling Doucoure after our own window is closed would be sheer lunacy. It only makes sense if we have time to reinvest the money, assuming the transfer fee is sizable enough to make it worth our while.

Getting a fat wedge for Doucoure and buying 2-3 decent to good new defenders wouldn't be an objectively terrible trade, but that's not an option when our own window has long since expired.

Probably just paper talk, but more rumours surfacing about Arsenal and Everton battling it out for his signature.

Obviously if that’s true, he will pick arsenal as they are a much bigger and better club than Everton.

Despite their relative fall from grace Arsenal are by far the better more promising side, recent European final, cup final today... what have Everton done in the last few decades?

I am not too sure we would be reinvesting the money to be fair. I think it would be used to balance the books. If we manage to keep Hughes, Quina, Chalobah, Bashiru possibly someone from Italy Gino will likely think we have enough cover there and I think we will get defenders on the cheap or from Italy or sticking to what we have unfortunately.

Hoping Everton have a mare and offer crazy money for him. Wouldn't mind them offering Branthwaite as a sweetener. He looked very accomplished for 18.

Did we even attempt to go for Branthwaite ? Another of several young players that have gone for a song. Just what we need as part of the Giampaolo Pozzo model not his idiot son. Gelhardt has left Wigan as well for peanuts and Dowell is a high level Chump player who if he sorts himself out in the head could be a very decent mid level PL player. Who have we been linked with . Dunking Dunkley Donkey. Yippee.

They signed Braithwaite in January so doubt they'll be moving him on unless its for a season loan.

I think the Everton hierarchy would be mad not to send him here. We have a superb record in developing young players.

All depends on who they sign during the window. Defenders are high on the list. Could end up as 5th or 6th choice.

Ummm....how about all those other young players who developed since coming to us?

    Dahlberg
    Success
    Penaranda
    Wilmot
    Quina

Or how about the long, and illustrious list of players who came through our academy and established themselves in the upper levels of the game?

    O’Nien
    Jakubiak
    Folivi
    Foley

Pretty obvious why he would have joined us.

  31. lowerrous

Don't forget the other possibility which is that he could have joined us and then after six months earned a big money move to Everton!

Imagine what would have happened to Quina and Wilmot if we didn't get relegated, another year in relative wilderness probably. Young keepers are a tricky one (though we've still monumentally ****ed over Dahlberg over the last 2 seasons), the other two appear to have attitude problems, although again, we haven't done them any favours whatsoever in the last 4 years

Think Doucs has had his day at Watford and don’t think performances this year would have done him any favours with attracting a big club , think he has also become overshadowed by Sarr , 2 years ago he would have been seen as the outstanding Watford player but not anymore.

has the ability to be great but is a journey man, not invested in a Watford , let him go to PSG if they want him

No doubt t he's off but to whom? Be interesting to see. PSG not a chance. I still believe it will be a Prem team like Everton. Price wise I have no idea, but we must be looking at 20+m, hopefully a bidding war. He would fit in nicely at Wolves.
