Putting supposedly in brackets around a Black African man’s age is probably casual racism. I know you don’t mean it totally like that and I’m not saying you’re racist. Just letting you know, in the extremely sensitive times of 2020 that’s probably a racist joke to a black man that doesn’t know you. Some great suggestions man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It's hardly unheard of for footballers born in Africa to have lied about their age. Even the leftist BBC cited the problem as being "rampant": https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/26174252 Does he look 22 years-old to you?
Doesn't answer my question to you. I'd be surprised if age fraud was rampant in Scotland though. P.S. Ghana is a country, not a race.
Africa is a race though. Not going to waste my time arguing with you but I don’t think you’d make those jokes in real life with a name and picture of you alongside them. Enjoy your weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can see both sides of the argument, as you used to get people alleging Lukaku was lying about his age and he was and he was born and raised in Belgium! That being said, there has historically been a particular problem with African footballers lying about their ages to secure better transfer opportunities in Europe. Nigeria was a particularly prevalent example if I recall correctly https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Age_fraud_in_association_football
Africa is a continent, not a race. Would you consider a common Moroccan to be of the same race as a common Ugandan? Would you consider a white South African to be of the same race as a black South African? I've never questioned Success' age, despite him coming from Nigeria, because he looks about the age he's stated as. Alternatively, I've never questioned Okaka's age, despite him looking a bit old for his age, because he was born in Italy. That you're trying to make a race issue out of this when it isn't one says more about you than it does about me.
The BBC Article: "It is no secret that some African youth teams are often suspected of being full of overage players, with age scandals hitting the likes of Nigeria, Ghana and Kenya in the past." Here are some more articles about age fraud in Ghanaian football, including articles from Ghanaian websites, for those ( @Squibba ) who still that think the issue is made-up and somehow being alluded to due to racial prejudice: https://www.modernghana.com/news/251176/football-age-cheats-chukwudi-how-old-are.html Quote: " I lost interest in FIFA's aged competitions years ago when I came to the conclusion that the competition has been over-abused particularly by countries in Africa led by Ghana and Nigeria" https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomeP...s-involved-in-age-cheating-in-football-407877 Qoute: "Nigeria, Ghana and Cameroon have been named as countries involved in age cheating in the year 2015, according to a report by football observatory body CIES. The three Nations were alleged to be involved in massive age cheating in the past year after a thorough investigation by the Swiss-based Football Observatory. Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon in 2015 assumed to have fielded the youngsters players in FIFA competition of which the Observatory body (CIES) argue against after their checks on the three football nations. A statement released by the body reads: “However, this result must be analysed carefully insofar as footballers born in Africa tend to be older than they claim to be,” the report stated. “Lying about one’s age is a common practice that implies a competitive advantage in youth categories,” said the report." https://www.goal.com/en/news/1717/e...n-ghana-the-bane-of-football-academies-trying Quote: "Age cheating in Ghana – the bane of football academies trying to produce the next Michael Essien & Kwadwo Asamoah." Charlie Goode, Northampton Captain is getting plenty of interest from championship sides. centre half ,6' 5" tall , quick , ever present for season . born in Watford . must be a upgrade on what with have now
So we aren't even linked but it's worth it's own thread ??? Nice try Mrs Goode, I'm sure your son is just great.
Should be in the 'transfer suggestions' thread if he's just an idea and we're not actually linked with him.
Think it is delving into racism when people claim Lukaku or Renato Sanches, two players from wealthy countries with reliable birth records, are actually way older with absolutely no basis, some people are just big for their age when they're young. This issue does exist in Africa, although it's certainly not unique to there, it happens anywhere where they can falsify birth records easily, but I'd say it happens in Africa more because it's a particularly popular market in the world of football
You're no Goode You're no Goode You're no Goode Baby, you're no Goode I'm gonna say it again You're no Goode You're no Goode You're no Goode Baby, you're no Goode
Step 1: Search this thread for names I’m unfamiliar with Step 2: Read fans/journalist opinions on them Step 3: Watch their YouTube compilation Step 4: Hype them up as the next big thing and saviour of our squad Step 5: Remember this was just a suggestion and they’re never actually joining us Step 6: Remind myself they’re probably ***** anyway Repeat.
This 19 year old kid kid who is being tipped as the next Aubameyang wants to leave Arsenal, because he wants first team football. He has only one year left on his contract, but arsenal are still want £8m for him. Apparently Brentford are very interested in him, so if they get promoted he might prefer to go to them. However, according to reports Arsenal are keen on Doucoure, so could we maybe be able to jump in on this guy, by offering them Doucoure and taking this kid as part of the deal?
Why is this titled "reported" when it seems we've not even been linked with the guy? Shirley should be just under transfer suggestions ?
Good shout this, looks a serious talent, certainly lots of potential for a big sale further down the line as well.
Harry Clarke perhaps but I don't think they will let him go. Brentford always seem to pick up decent prospects from Woolwich. We end up with Kaylen Hinds.
