Recalled from his 2 year loan according to Marca. We plan on having him in the squad next season - Barca and United both expressing interest.

If we somehow convince him to stay regardless of being in the Prem or not then Gino will start to win some of the fans back.

If we get relegated the owners need to show they are serious about bouncing right back. This will go a long way in showing that.

Of course if silly money is offered then I expect them to take it. Just hope we don’t sell the worlds most wanted LB for £20mil or something stupid like that.

World's most wanted LB? Jesus, is he that good?

He actually is, fantastic when we’ve been using Femenia as a left back for half the season.

He’s incredible and surely no way we convince him to play in the championship. But if we play hard ball we can genuinely have one of the scariest championship squads ever.

We've got history of dragging left back's to Watford kicking and screaming so..

Jokes aside and obviously MASSIVE golden tinted specs on but 22, 23 in January by the time half the Championship season is done so hopefully in the Prem at 23. One season in the Prem and off to Real Madrid by the time he's 24.

    What's the harm in that?

I mean, if we literally forced the likes of Estupinan, Sarr, Suarez, Cucho and Deulofeu to stay and managed to then keep them motivated for the season, whilst shifting out the crap like Cleverley, Gray, Mariappa etc. and making a couple of astute signings, then yes we would likely have an extremely successful season.

It's just not ever going to happen though, is it. I think every single one of them will be sold.

Won't pretend I know much about his ability, but it's pretty depressing that we have such a highly rated player on loan when the state of our defence is how it is right now.

Suppose in these dark times, it's reassuring to know the scouts are still finding hidden gems.

Im sure a season at Watford will turn Pervis from a player that Barca are after, into someone who is farmed out on loan to Accrington Stanley. We did appear to be a bit of a graveyard for young talent at the moment

He'll probably play in Pre-season looking great then get sold at the last minute leaving us without a proper left back.

  13. Not that I’ve seen, and think people are going to be mighty disappointed.

From what I’ve seen good with the ball at his feet, freaking fast, offensive, not that good a defender, not that good a crosser, will improve our team but the idea he’s playing for Barcelona next is a joke

Looks like an excellent crosser of the ball here... Also surprisingly good at passing through the lines of the defence.

I really hope we keep the likes of this guy regardless of what division we end up in next season, but knowing the Pozzo's they might be more likely to cash in on them.

Whatever happens tomorrow I think it is time for Gino to utilise these players to further our teams footballing ambitions, instead of constantly selling what talent we have all the time.

I am at the point of turning against Gino and Co. therefore if he opts for selling all our talent rather than trying to build up the strength of the team for next season. I might join the Gino Out Brigade.

I appreciate that some players might have to go, but this should only be if the worse were to happen and we go down. However even then he should hang on to as many of our better players that he can afford to, and build a stronger team around them.

There's a chance we keep some of our young South American talent, but honestly, a player who's been one of the best left-backs in La Liga this season coming to the Championship? Really? We're gonna have to bite the bullet on Estupinan and just hope we can keep a hold of the likes of Pedro and Cucho

  17. lowerrous

    lowerrous First Team

Pedro, Cucho and Suarez we'll have a chance of keeping.

However, Estupinan seems much less likely, especially because he only has 1 year left on his contract and so we could end up with nothing for him if we don't sell this window and we're unable to convince him to renew in case we get promoted again at the first attempt.

  18. a19tgg

    a19tgg First Team

Yeah, he’s got a year on his contract so keeping him is out of our hands. It’s highly unlikely that we will, why on earth would he sign a contract extension with us and then play in the championship, when he can say ‘no thanks’ knowing we’ll have to sell him. It makes no sense from his point of view. I also can’t imagine we would’ve deliberately let his contract run down to a year if he’s as good as people think he is, so it’s also quite likely he’s already turned an extension down anyway.

  19. The Recluse

Maybe with Joao Pedro & Cucho though I wouldn't be surprised to see them at Udinese in some form, loan or permanent.

Suarez I think wants to stay in Spain so I personally think it's unlikely we'll see him play for Watford, especially now we've gone down.

I don't think Estupinan was ever going to come here. His 2-year loan at Osasuna covered the final 2-years of his contract with us. The call back after the 1st season was there, in my opinion, to cover us incase he had a good season and we could cash in on him this summer. If he'd had an ordinary season this season he's have stayed at Osasuna and probably signed for them after that on a free, providing a bigger or more established side didn't want him after next season.

All pure speculation obviously but I'll be genuinely gobsmacked if either Suarez or Estupinan ever line up in a Watford shirt.

He is far from obscure. There seems to be this weird obsession of the halcyon days when we signed players from the clubs around us and travelled the familiar route to Colchester or Crewe. Football has changed. It's not going to turn back even if there is a financial crisis. It's a global game. The only place to be now in the modern game is at the top of the table.

I'd say it is a modern day obsession of signing any foreign player who can pass straight. Our recruitment has been absolutely diabolical overall. I've no issue with signing European players, far from it. Sign players from Jupiter as far as I'm concerned so long as they improve us. But I do have an issue with our scattergun approach to signings and I'd imagine that makes us unappealing to sign for unless of course you are just looking for a pay day rather than a career move.

Well they then get sent out on loan or never played which doesn't give them encouragement.

Now all these loan guys will probably want to stay in Spain and play in La Liga.

But if he wouldn't sign a new contract then what's the alternative? Presumably we'd have sold him a year ago in preference to loaning him and received much less?

  31. reids

I'm not sure what to make of the contract situation , we've recalled him from a 2 year loan - but it would be a bit odd to send him on a loan that length and then be out of contract when the loan ends. Unless of course we didn't think he was any good and were happy for Osasuna to pay his wages for a couple of seasons until his contract ran down. Hopefully he signed a 4 year deal before joining Osasuna!

We can criticize the domestic scouting Leighton. It's appalling and Andy Scott was sent packing to put to bed any idea of developing that. But the international scouting network does it's job. It's not a question of signing a foreigner who can pass straight. Pervis was already making his debut at a very young age in Ecuador a country the Pozzo network is focused on presumably because young talent from here, Colombia, Venezuela is cheaper.
