It would be so Watford-y to have an amazing performance and win but for Villa to win too and relegate us.* *This is not true. We'll go down with a whimper. A couple of players will do the obligatory lying on the pitch, most of them will just slope off to the changing room, do some Covid elbow bumps and hugs and hope they never see each other again in the same dressing room.
And after all the stuff Deeney has said about the Arse it has come back to bite us on the literal arse . He cannot start as this will motivate Arsenal more than anything.
An interesting reveal from the Man City game from AL and The Athletic. He states that Giraldi and Jose Alfonso Morcillo, who is another trusted staff member of Gino's were sitting in the stand letting Mullins and Stack control events, until about the 60th minute. Things then began to change. After this point they wanted to get more involved and control the game themselves. Giraldi hit the seat in front of him after City scored their third and the noise apparently was very audible. Giraldi then walked down the the dugout pitch side, then the 4th was scored. Eric Roy got involved too and had a chat with Sarr in French. Morcillo was directing the substitutions and was telling Mullins which player to take off and bring on. Sounds like just a dreadful environment to work in.
The big boys will be ******* off to the closed-shop European Showbiz League before long, and then there will be a competition where you don't know who's going to finish up in the top 6.
It's a pretty feeble expose. I got upset when the third went in too. It seems odd, given the despair on this forum with performances, that the hierarchy's frustration with the same players is met with such surprise.
Even after tailing off at the end off the season, what did we actually do in the summer to strengthen our team? We needed to improve either in our ability to stop the opponent scoring, or our ability to put the ball into the net. We didn't improve either. The likes of Sarr and Pedro are glamour players, who will come good in 3 years time for someone, but who don't address the shortcomings we drastically needed addressing in the here and now. Sure we enjoyed Sarr demolishing Liverpool, but I don't think that was worth £40m to us. We've spend far too much time and energy developing a network of future stars who are either on our fringes, with a hope they will come good in the future, or out on loan, and destined to be sold without ever having played for us. If we had spent the type of money we spent on Dawson, Pedro and Sarr on a centre forward like Rodriguez and two, younger, faster, more athletic centre backs than Cathcart and Dawson, I am pretty sure we would be mid table right now. OK Gino wouldn't have his David ****inson, Real Deal type 'assets' to gloat over, but we would be looking forward to a comfortable top 15 finish and another season in the Prem. As it is, the Pozzo Network has 2 new Assets (they will probably go to Udinese when we go down) and Watford has suffered. This is what I hate. Owners who don't care about the team they manage.
If that is really the case, then if they had a brain cell, they would be the one's resigning rather than wait to be sacked.
If you look at our Pozzo PL points per game before and after he shot his mouth off about Arsenal there's a big drop. That idiot gobshyte made us a target for every club. Absolute moron.
You are right . He is a big lad but there are lots of big lads in the Premier division. If you can bash up VVD then you can be taken seriously as some sort of enforcer
That'll be the most fight we'll see from our team all day. "It's mine" "**** off, not it's not, it's mine" "Please Pepe, give your shirt to me..."
Giraldi is a massive cahunt. If they think they know better he can appoint himself and Rob Roy as his assistant. Why bother with the charade of a head coach position. *****s. Still persisting with a clogger upfront no doubt for the Woolwich winkers.
A bit of a strange interview from Hughes. He talks about the missed chances and the second goal as being the killer, as if he didn't really have any involvement in either. The biggest miss of the game came from him, and it was his tackle that gave them the second goal!! It's not the first time he's given that type of penalty away either. He did the same at Sheff Utd. He needs to learn not to dangle a leg with tricky players around him in the box.....and bloody well appeal more against the decision FFS. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...ieves-watford-wasted-chances-manchester-city/
Gino was presumably contractually obliged to offer that lot from Goodison Park his naming rights as part of the Snakey Silva settlement!
Well almost 24 hours later and I’m still gutted Man City result wasn’t a surprise and Villa beating Arsenal was unexpected but they were always going to win one their two remaining games. way I see it is we are pretty much relegated , the only slight chance we have (I think having a slight chance is worse than having no chance), is to draw against an angry arsenal (we won’t beat them) and hope Villa lose to West Ham - frustration thing is it plausible but highly unlikely . I will however be watching and praying on Sunday. I kind of think this is everybody else’s fault, players with no heart , manger with no clue and owners appointing mangers with no clue and buying players with no heart . Not sure what will happened when we go down , will we have a fire sale, sad thing is we are likely to sell Sarr, JP, Gerry D, Hughes but keep Deeney . For the world of me can’t understand why we haven’t tried something else like playing JP and Quina (maybe he wouldn’t have broken lock down if he was getting a chance). Think that Pearson almost did a remarkable job, but don’t think the result would have been any different yesterday if he was still here. there has been a lot of moaning about the owners , guess we will find out why they are really like next year, will they keep key players and invest to get us back up or cut their losses and leave It’s only football, but yesterday’s results have been going round my head since villa beat arsenal , so close , yet so ******* far
Forgive me if I am wrong but I always thought that football was a game in which the winner was the team that scored the most goals. We hardly achieved that target this season although Foster did know which team was the winner the number of times he picked the ball out our net. Sorry but we have had a lot of players this year promising a lot on the club web site and in the press who have sadly delivered little. My dear lady wife has endured a lot of grieve from me this season but to her credit she has not given up the fight. Promises of I am not going to renew the season ticket met with I bet you will be there next season and she is probably right. The thought of going to Arsenal, Tottenham or Chelsea does not enter the train of thought and I probably would not get onto the list for a season ticket for years. When you grow up supporting your local team when you are younger is the norm and believe me being brought up in Darlington then you might be able to understand what the bad times are. Sure I won’t be happy when it’s all over on Sunday but when you are brought up living football then you learn to live with the bad as well as the good times. Yep this year has been one of the bad times made even worse by having to watch it on TV instead of being there, but I will be there next year even though at the moment I am saying I won’t.
Let's look at this dilly of a pickle that we are in from a different perspective. Back in early December when we needed snookers and were cut adrift if we were offered a last game of the season with a chance of survival we may have snatched it out of the offerers hands #ClutchingAtStraws
It doesn't matter much - if he's not at Watford, it will be the Pozzos using our cash teat to fund their speculation.
It's an interesting question: which figure is more, the eventual figure they may get for Sarr having obsessively prioritised chasing him over the entire summer and blowing the entire transfer budget on him over intelligently improving the team in the areas it needed, or the amount they will lose via being relegated? As you say, you'd have to assume that there's an at least semi-direct correlation between the two, after all.
Just remembered the highlight of this game. We'd conceded a goal and it cut to the bench. Mullins was signalling to the team by pushing his hands down, in the classic "stay calm, lads" gesture whilst Stack was standing next to him lifting his hands up in the "come on lads, lift it" gesture. A very apt image from our joke of a club this season.
