The missus has called time on the wedding for 2 years!! She probably has her heart set on marrying a Premier League footballer. https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/little-mixs-leigh-anne-pinnock-22396202
What injury does he have? Wasn’t he involved all pre-season then disappeared? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thanks. Certainly makes our squad stronger at this level, important we get him back quickly I think he will be key to promotion. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Apparently he's aiming to get back for the second week of the international break, and might be involved against Derby. We all know he's not the best finisher, but you can bet your bottom dollar he'd have got in better positions than JP and Sarr today, maybe he'd have made a difference
Genuinely cannot think of a worse individual performance in my time watching Watford than the one I witnessed from him tonight. An utterly pathetic excuse for a footballer.
My sentiments exactly. It was cringeworthy. I cannot comprehend how an elite sportsman can be so inept. For the send time today I am speechless at the incompetence of a so called professional in sport.
He nearly had an assist when it bounced of his shin to Sarr’s feet. Commentator said he didn’t think gray meant it. Lol no **** he never meant it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Will this guy ever stop talking sense? 3 years on and still spot on. I was wrong about the tats, mind.
Unfortunately Andre can only play in a 2 as he is unable to play the lone striker role . We only have to watch a re-run of Tuesdays game to see that . This means that if we play with a 2 up top to accommodate Gray we are then building our team around our weakest player. I am not his biggest fan but it is not his fault someone was willing to shell out a bucket load of cash for him . He has worked very hard to get where he has . Unfortunately he is unlikely to get another contract anywhere near as good in the future so we are probably stuck with him until his contract runs out . What I will say in his defence is that away to Bore-muff last season his last minute shot was cleared off the line and RP put the rebound in to make it 3-0 and you could tell that Andre was pleased for the team which shows that he is a team man .
Little highlight reel of Andre this season* https://twitter.com/WatfordTalk/status/1332790124887814144?s=19 *45 minutes against Bristol City Thanks to our resident set piece expert for the footage
Another hamstring injury for Gray. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18906459.watford-waiting-news-andre-gray-injury/
Another player who has built up his quads too much and has not maintained the elasticity in his hamstrings it seems. Which rather begs the question why, when he rarely controls the ball when he gets to it.
Gray has everything to succeed.... except he can’t control a ball... or pass a ball... or make an intelligent run... So basically Gray has nothing to succeed
Amazing, genuinely incredible. Although the ones where he's trying to do the right thing and just messes it up are funny, it's the ones where he's seeing a completely different game to the rest of the world that are the most value such as the attempted pass down the line to Sarr. Interesting to watch the reaction of his team mates. See how many times Pedro goes for a slog jog off looking up to the sky in the video. The best though is Sarr, after the last pass then horrendously mistimed tackle to try to make amends. Summed up how everyone feels I think.
so the question surely is, after that performance how on earth did Ivic think he deserved to start v PNE? You have to question his sanity.
Up until he went off against PNE he looked good aside from the stupid near assist. He is a player suited to playing in a two. Whenever he and Deeney have played as a two he looks ok.
He closed down the opposition, that's it. Anyone can be taught that. He's inept at everything else a footballer needs. The supposed flick that put the PNE player through is priceless.
I think he is very limited as a footballer, no doubt about it, and he is clearly capable of brain farts such as that pass. What is also clear is that he gets hammered regardless of what he does in the same way Deeney does. Quina put a really simple forward pass straight into touch against QPR and the defence was "at least he's trying to make something happen". Gray put a really simple forward pass straight into touch against Bristol City and "He's the worst footballer I've ever seen". Maybe I'm growing old with modern day football but it seems every player is either the worst they've ever seen in a Watford shirt or are massively overhyped. The majority of our squad is made up of average Championship players, there is a reason they aren't playing at the top level. Gray is a limited player, but the vitriol he gets is unwarranted in my view. It is probably driven by his price tag which has precisely sod all to do with him. He was decent on Saturday before he went off, he did well. Talk it down all you like but he was doing ok and whenever he has played in a partnership with Deeney we have looked ok. I think I saw somebody post on Twitter that those two have only played as a pair in 13 games which is disappointing as they look more effective as a pair.
Of course his price tag plays a part in it. He was our record signing and expectations were high. People were bitterly disappointed that he turned out to be shyt. Disappointment often manifests itself as anger. It's basic psychology. It's nothing to do with the modern game either. Jamie Moralee was our record signing nearly 30 years ago, and got dogs abuse for being dung. But he IS shyt (gray not Moralee, the latter was just misunderstood).
You may some good points there and I have echoed some of them in his defence as many know already. But alas some fans will remain ignorant and will pick out his faults at every opportunity.
Is it so hard to believe people holding an 18 million, experienced striker accountable to a higher standard than a young midfielder, with barely a handful of senior appearances? Even taking the price tag out of the equation, it doesn’t seem unreasonable to me that you’d be quicker to castigate an experienced pro for basic errors and general ineptitude.
Some points taken as @Relegation Certs said of course it's driven by his price tag. I expect a certain amount of ability from our former record signing. He has none imo. Yes everyone misplaces passses but I'm really struggling to think of somebody who does it more regularly than Gray.
Hold Giraldi & Pozzo to account for the price tag. I'd imagine Burnley couldn't believe their luck but Gray didn't set the price. My point was that it seems whatever Gray does he gets hammered for. Same with Deeney. I saw a post on Twitter on Saturday that quoted two separate tweets - one stating Deeneys pass to Chalobah for the goal wasn't a good pass but Chalobah made it look good, and the other one scoring Gray 6.5 out of ten...despite the poster in question admitting he didn't see the first half. I just find it quite odd behaviour. For the record I have no issue with criticising players, I've criticised Quina on multiple occasions this season, but to be insistent on finding fault is a very peculiar mindset to have.
If the vast majority of people are hammering Gray, have you ever considered that perhaps it is you that is in the wrong?
I'm in agreement he's not very good - but the reaction to it seems a bit vitriolic and over the top to me. He gives plenty of opportunity for criticism so it isn't like its in short supply, but if people want to live looking for fault where there is none that is up to them...and I'll happily live my life being wrong and a bit happier.
I think the the Deeney pass “being made to look good” was Mr LouOrns. Seemed a bit harsh on Deeney I must say.
