The article reports Genoa are said to be looking at Masina, for those frantically flicking through their Collins' Italian to English pocket translation book.
To be fair to him. He's going from number one in the Premier League to backup in the Championship. I don't blame him for moving elsewhere.
Would prefer to keep him, although wouldn't be devastated to see him go, especially if we get a half decent price for him. If (and it's a big if) we're keeping Estupinan and getting this mad Greek in, then we're doing OK at left-back, although Masina could also be a decent option at centre-back in the Championship, and that's somewhere where we could still do with a quality option to go alongside Wilmot
For ****s sake. Not a world beater but he'd have contributed at this level and we need as many players available as possible because of the frequency of matches.
So typical, we can never catch a break. Wouldn’t be surprised if we now look at bringing a LB in on loan.
I wonder will we try to keep Femenia as an option at LB/LWB. Seemed to play better there than on the right. At the minute we just have Estupinan and possibly Sema who could fill in at LWB
I think it would make sense to keep Kiko anyway, at least until Janmaat is fit. But, Sema has been touted as a possible LWB, so maybe he could fill in if required.
Sema is still good cover as LWB, even though the current plan seems to be to put him in CM. The biggest problem with Masina being injured is we can't get any money from a sale of him now.
Wing backs have to run like Forrest Gump and if we rely on Estupinan or Ngakia for 2 games a week 46 game season we are taking a huge risk. Femenía and Janmaat must be retained and we need to find at least one more able to 0lay each side.
Estupinan and Ngakia, with Sema and Janmaat as backups is surely enough, no? The left-side only becomes a serious concern if we intend to switch to a back 4 again soon, as Femenia will then be our only realistic backup option, in which case if possible it might be preferable to try and shift Janmaat already and keep Femenia.
Some people are saying he is out until November, where are you getting this info please as I have not been able to find it anywhere?
Not a lot of use to most of us I would have thought, perhaps as you seem to be able to read it you could translate it for the rest of us please PJ
You also have Masina ... "Unfortunately he hurt his tendon during the last friendly, kicking, and he'll be out until November. As for him, and the transfer market, we'll talk about it again in January".
Ball, persson, post? Shame - another full back injured. Let's hope the 2 lads likely to start this week keep fit.
Not overly pushed whether Masina stays or goes (though it very much looks like he wants to go), but we HAVE to bring in a left-sided defender. Newcastle went and signed Jamal Lewis, does that clear the path for Giannoulis?
Really worried reading somewhere that Masina might be considered worth trying as one of the central 3 if we continue with the formation used in friendly games so far. When it was first mentioned here, I was sure it was from the same realms of fantasy that saw Fessi proposed as a WB option back in the day, but now I’m quite concerned. I like the bloke, and think he’s capable of doing a job at this level, but there’s no way he should be anywhere near the middle of the park.
