Look, I'm quite a relaxed fan. I really am. But when I see that first half I wonder wtf have we been doing on the training pitch?

I also wonder why he keeps persisting with 1 upfront. Our two recent wins were fortunate as **** and I think because of those results he seems to have thought it was working. IT WASN'T.

Then, like previous games he makes horrendous subs. We are 3-1 down ffs and he finally makes a sub (apart from HT) and its Doucoure off Chalobah on. Whilst we have attacking players on the bench who might have bit more creativity and cause them more problems!

Finally brings one of those attacking players on in Pedro and takes Welbeck off?!?!? JUST GO FOR IT.

Seriously man, his management since lockdown has been appalling. Has to go.

How many times do we change manager before accepting the squad are mentally weak and technically not very good and a squad overhaul is what’s required? The players haven’t responded to three different managers this season - they are to blame.

The players are awful I do agree. But we would stand more of a chance if our manager actually went for it when 3-1 down. Instead we make a like for like change in CM.

Our players do lack cojones and maybe I'm being unfair on Pearson but I find myself bemused by Pearsons decisions time and time again.

I don’t agree with all of Pearson’s subs but he’s got a squad of duds and pussies to choose from.

They aren’t good enough. It’s as simple as that.

What LBH said. All the focus needs to be on the players and Giraldi. Pearson has dug us out of a big hole but needs the players to put the effort in the pull themselves over the edge. So far they’ve shown little willing.

Disgusting post. He and Giraldi are the sort of dream team we need to take us to the next level. A double act like Cannon and Ball, Picard and Riker, Bugs and Daffy.

He's got us so close to safety, we will see it through.

Again I agree. But the team didnt seem fired up from the start. West Ham wanted it more. Surely Pearson as to have some part in that.

Dont get me wrong, this bunch of players are spineless but they dont seen to be motivated at all

I find myself regretting my impulsive thread (purely born out of anger) and realising we should have invested more. I am fuming with his subs though.

Pep or Klopp wouldn't do any better with this bunch of losers.Complete overhaul needed aside from maybe 3 people

As a professional footballer if you can’t get motivated for a game like tonight then there is something wrong. Three managers haven’t managed to motivate them, they’ve not managed to motivate themselves. This is all on the players.

Let’s not forget this squad hasn’t had the professionalism, pride or desire to finish a season properly for 5 seasons. The only difference this season is they didn’t bother starting the season.

This is 100% down to a weak and disinterested squad.

  11. That doesn't explain why Pearson still picks the same rancid 11 over and over

Chalobah would bleed for this club and never gets a look in

Listening to his post match interview I just want to punch him in the side of his nut!

Muppet. 'I expect better in the first half'. Should be tearing players limb from limb and fining them!

The players won't go home tonight and worry about this, they'll go home and count their money and then get on the phone to their agents to get a move away.

    F**k off.

Sick of the lot of them. Pearson isn’t the problem, the players and the idiots who bought them are.

Pearson isn’t to blame for this. Whether he’s the man that should be allowed the chance to rebuild from it is another thing.

What this club can’t do is stick its fingers in its ears this summer, appoint ‘a manager’ again on a one year deal and do what they always do.

The time for change is now. And I have zero faith we will grab it.

The manager position is just a puppet here. We need real change - sack off Giraldi and let a proper manager do his job. Same crap regardless of the manager.

The problem is, we don't even have a supporter base that would demand things change. All the Watford-centric journalists are buddies with the club and there's no independent voice.

But look at that team announcer! PHWOAR!

OK, Pearson definitely isn't the main culprit, but he has to take his share of the blame. Rode the coattails of Sarr and Deulofeu to give us a nice new manager bounce, but has proven very limited since. The thing is though, with such a short turnaround to next season, it'll be a huuuuuge risk to change manager now, BUT, Pearson definitely isn't the man to build a 'dynasty' around. The managerial merry-go-round will continue, all we have to hope for is that whenever we make our next appointment, we get it right, whatever division we're in. Southampton offer a bit of hope, they did well with Koeman, appointed two duds after him, and, after a rocky start (YOU'RE WELCOME SAINTS!!!), their incumbent is proving a very smart appointment. Only thing is though, they're a much bigger club who are more attractive than a small team in Hertfordshire...

No, probably not. However, he's communicating with the fans in these press conferences, so when you see a wooly and weak interview like that it just enrages me further. I don't think he's hurting tonight, the players definitely aren't!!

This is far from Pearsons fault NP has picked up more points than any other manager around us but he has inherited the worst defence with the exception of Norwich in the league. The fact that we are still in contention of staying up at this stage is nothing short of a miracle we have needed to improve our defence for so long so it is not a shock to concede two defensively weak goals like that at the start. Additionally is the ***** Giraldi picking the team?

Blows my mind how many people can manage to completely miss the fact that, whether it's solely down to Pearson or not (it isn't) and whether or not there are myriad other problems in both personnel and ownership structure (there are), it doesn't mean that Pearson is free from the responsibility to actually do his job in any kind of effective and functional manner.

His uniformly abysmal substitutions, his inexplicable persistence with certain players and total unexplained ostracism of others, his obsessive wedding to one formation that almost never works and we don't really have the personnel for, his routine sending out of the team to perform as though they're hungover and have received no tactical instruction in the days and weeks leading up to the game.

All of these are things that he should explicitly be judged on, and instead of forelock-tugging at his feet because he's big 'ard Nige, we should be asking why he has routinely managed to have no effect whatsoever on the way the team plays and the attitude of these players. When it comes to his own personal role, he has been terrible for a long time, and that's the point.

So just watched his post match interview- if he wields the axe and finally goes brave next 2 games then I’ll back him because maybe he will demand a change in the squad for next season.

But that means for me a team like this next game

    Foster
Maps (he definitely tries and seems to care)
Holebas - again at least shows passion
Dawson - grown on me since lockdown
Kabasele- not really any other options
Doucoure- I think he cares and he’s got those driving runs - let him play that way
Hughes - monster at the moment
Pedro - only seen glimpses, but he’s got pace and movement, enthusiasm and **** it why not now!?
    Sarr - obviously
    Pussetto- works bloody hard
Welbeck - tries hard and has some pace and movement

    Bench - 9 U’23’s

Also Nigel Pearson: Troy Deeney is the first name on the team sheet, despite only having one functioning knee.

Didn't he say something about going back to the drawing board or looking for solutions? Then goes to put out the exact same 11 and play in the same way.

Still waiting for Craig Shakespeare the tactical genius to show some erm genius?

I thing Pearson has done fine given the constraints.

If I had the option of binning Pozzo\Giraldi I would honestly take any random forumite as manager to seal that deal.

How many times do fans need pointing out that we have had squad overhauls before recognising the recruitment and coaching structures are fundamentally flawed? We overhaul the squad regularly - what we don’t do is buy players for targeted positions in a current coaches system. And we back it up with undeserved loyalty to underperforming current squad members (you know who they are) and the cycle continues. If we survive, ‘the model works!’ and we repeat the cycle.

We have fans on here who are happy to just survive - ‘we are who we are and we are lucky to compete’ etc etc - and then those that aren’t happy are hit with warnings of Charlton Athletic ‘they got beyond their station’. Fair point.

But this isn’t good enough. We’ve been in the PL long enough now to be able to demand better. Call me entitled, I don’t care... The standard of football isn’t good enough, the structure isn’t good enough and we have a squad of players who are completely out of tune with those who support the club.

Every now and then, Deeney breaks ranks. And says he see’s what fans say and he is vocal...we don’t play the game, he takes no notice. I remember being at the very last ‘At Your Place’ event in Marylebone and him in no uncertain words saying fans had no clue - they really care when they play etc etc. (Also a noteworthy event because Giraldi and Duxbury both said CB was a key area of weakness they would strengthen ‘DAWSON’)

I’ve literally had enough of this bunch of average charlatans. They are paid far too much money for what they produce and how much joy they bring to those who follow them. And I really don’t think they care. If Deeney truly cared, he’d admit he’s not fit enough to play for example - it’s beyond obvious.

    Stay up or go down:

Rip it all up. Get rid of Pearson. Appoint a new captain. Sack Giraldi. Sign 2 new CB’s.

Who recruited this weak and disinterested squad? And then gave them 3 different leaders?

Even if the squad is weak, heads above them need to roll first?

Giraldi must go. There’s no two ways about it. But we are a spineless fan base. We don’t demand it. So it won’t happen.
