I think we will be more embarrassed by Watford. I know I am today

I don't think Gracia was a hard line manager, quite the opposite, and maybe that was the problem.

And weren't some of the players (at least the British contingent) in favour of someone like NP?

Deeney was. But Deeney is a fan of every manager for the first few weeks.

Once he's cemented his spot as the irreplaceable captain, he then downs tools, before moaning a few months later that they were sacked too quickly. And the process starts again.

Sarr and Welbeck up front. Bring in Pedro, Pusetto and Chalobah.

I'm going to watch every minute of every game, just in case I miss the good bits. I'll hate most of it and wish I didn't even like football let alone Watford.

It seems almost impossible to believe we'll get anything out of this one, which will at least soften the blow.

What I would like to see though - either this game, or as others have said maybe rest them for this game and then put this out the next game

    Foster
    Kiko
Holebas - still a bit of fight in the old dog and he can cross a ball
    Dawson
Kabasele - got to hope he's over his lapse in concentration he gets 3 to 4 times a year - plus Cathcart is beginning to look like a regular 5 out of 10 rather than the 6/7 he was.
Hughes - more energy in his legs than Capoue right now it seems
Doucoure - he's no number ten and yet is easily one of our best players when being allowed to drive box to box and have someone else in front of him
    Sarr on right
    Pedro on left
Pereyra as the ten - he's not go the pace for the wide roll, but would encourage us to play it on the deck more as the link man
    Welbeck as the nine

Some pace and movement up front, bit of technical play in the 10 slot with Doucoure adding an extra man as he'll get forward regardless and a more attacking edge from Holebas. We may actually get to see some efforts on goal.

    Spot on write up

I thought we would ease out of the relegation zone , I defended players like Deeney , I even thought it might be a fun end to the season, something to play for etc.

in the last 180 mins of football we have probably seen only 30 mins when we have actually tried , sad thing is half the squad (maybe 3/4) are decent quality championship / lower half premier league players , but we look like division 2 chumps at the moment.

    to sum it up tossers

The thought of Pulisic and Abraham running out our defenders is a horrifying thought.

It’s going to be an absolute humping.

Quite looking forward to it. Each nail in our coffin is one step closer to the chaos relegation will bring. It’ll be glorious. So many rumors, YouTube videos, and players slipping through our grasp. So many Udinese cast-offs arriving for trials. A new manager. A mad Kelme kit. Ripping out the deadwood and financial destitution. Fantastic stuff.

No point in playing this game. Forfeiting and taking the 3-0 loss will be better for our goal difference.

We're at a time now where usually the owner would have sacked the coach. Only 6 points from 10 matches and you're a gonna for sure.

I thought maybe this was going to happen again, but it looks as though the board have decided to stick by Pearson come-what-may until the end of the season. This gives Pearson a luxury rarely afforded a Watford coach. Time...….and time to see if he can reverse the slump.

He's got 6 games to do it, and he has to now demonstrate whether he is skilful enough to turn our form around. He has 3 winnable games for sure, but even the other games he can ensure Watford's performance levels are better than the recent ones. If he fails to turn it around, then we're relegated and he's out of a job. But if he gets Watford going again, that would be to his credit and I'm sure that would be looked upon favourably.

AL said that he thought Pearson was going to be ok for now, but lose to Norwich and things could dramatically change. If we lose to Norwich though, or even fail to beat them, I think are chances of survival would be slim indeed. Although incredibly, we could still beat Newcastle, West Ham then get something at Arsenal. A new coach could possibly inspire that and that could be enough to see us safe.

So it's not all over. We still have options. Pearson will now probably get until Norwich to see if he can win that one. Lose that, then I think the board would have lost all confidence in him and he'd probably be replaced in the hope that a new guy will instantly give the team the impetus to go on a good run. Desperate times indeed.

Imagine this forum when we're starting in League One in a couple of years time! Some of the threads will be exquisite I'm sure. We'll look back at what we're writing now as some sort of golden age.

Indeed. The funniest thing about it is, that those that have questioned the running of the club over the last few years will actually be blamed for the club's situation by the day-out loving happy clappers who will genuinely believe their hands are clean.

We just end up going through the same drudgery next season.
Changes are needed and I dont believe its managers where the problem lies.

I am strangely feeling optimistic about this, I said to my friend after every game I think F this I have had enough and then as the next game approaches I start getting my hope up again, I feel like a woman who keeps believing that her man is going to change but then just get disappointment again :(

We're not talking about long term here...….we're just talking about what will it take to stay up. Once we are assured of Premier League status next season, then other options can be discussed.

Drop Deeney, Pereyra and Masina. Replace with Pedro, Penaranda and Holebas.

We’ll still lose but at least we won’t be repeating the same ol’ hoof to Deeney’s fat head for another 90 mins

If you want to stop the hoofing you need to replace Cathcart, Dawson, and Foster for starters. And Gomes isn't the answer if you want anti-hoofball. It wouldn't hurt to change away from 2 holding mids either. That said, the replacements will likely have the same problems.

The team needs to keep it's shape and compactness while defending but then have the bravery to expand aggressively when we get the ball and hit passes to those players opening up. Up the field, across the field, in the channels - into space where players can run onto a ball, not always to a safe back foot that stops all forward momentum. Any one who has played football beyond 11 years old has been on a team with this problem. You start playing scared and you're too easy to defend.

Stevie Wonder can see what's happening. But it's easier to see than to fix.

Always amused when I see posts on here or the special needs nursery that is the Enjoooythegame Facebook group about how it ‘would be typical Watford’ to go and beat this top 6 side after all our bad results. It’s like they haven’t been paying attention for the last 5 years.

I mean...it kind of would be? Arsenal in the cup in '16 and again in the league in '17, Chelsea in the early days under Gracia, Man U and Liverpool this season, granted, some of them we benefited from the new manager bounce, but none of them did we enter in good form

If the Watford we know can play turns up, we have a good chance at getting something from this game. If the Watford we've seen turns up, I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 or 5 go past us.

NP has to be bold with his team choice.

Chelsea have won 5 on the spin. If Nigel is bold enough to pick 15 players and get away with it, we might get a cheeky point.

We’re never in good form in the Prem. Last season’s opening 4 wins aside we’re only ever likely to get 1/2 wins per month at most, so any wins against a top side - such as those you’ve mentioned - have come during ‘poor form’. But for every one of those wins there’s a few 8-0, or 6-0, or 5-0, or 5-1 defeats.

And Liverpool didn't lose a single game all Season until we played them at home under the same management and players. It's sure as **** unlikely currently and I agree we''ll likely lose, but we know they're capable of it.

We get hidings off City and Liverpool often, but not really the others, Chelsea are on good form, but there's a reason they're 4th and not challenging for the league and Champions League
