Jim then puts up a massive cross in their front garden.

The series is pretty funny in places. Although there are some episodes that Jim's character is superfluous and shouldn't be in it. I guess that they won't be making any more after series 6 ended the way it did.

I moved on to Ozark recently, just completed series 1 last night.

S1 & S2 were so good that I had to take drastic measures not to binge them (Dad's 'TV time' is after 22h00 so I don't get the "I'm not watching that it's in German why can't we watch it dubbed into English...") I actually reprogrammed my router to shutdown at midnight. I'm only one episode into S3 and its very difficult fighting the urge to sit there all night watching it...

I gave up after the first episode. It was cringe inducing. Not my cup of tea.

Plowing through Community on Netflix and loving it so far. It's a bit like IASIP and B99.

I was/am a massive fan of Dan Harmon’s podcast Harmontown. Around the time it started he’d just been sacked/suspended from Community, which he created and wrote, because he’d played an abusive voicemail from Chevy Chase in front of a crowd at a pod recording. He was always very bitter about how they took the show away from him. I also love Rick and Morty, which he of course writes and in his eyes is a ‘**** you’ to the network that ran Community because he can do whatever he likes now.

I’ve never watched a second of Community though. I don’t know why, I’ve always been wary of it. Just seems a bit ‘kooky’ like New Girl or that ******* awful sitcom about the nerds and the blonde woman. Is it worth a go? My misconceptions are probably totally wrong, I ought to trust Harmon. You saying it reminds you of IASIP would definitely tempt me to get involved.

Also, a lot of the real life LA based weirdos that he based the Community characters on ended up appearing on the podcast. They all seemed like complete nutters.

So completely against my will I watched "Little Fires Everywhere" because sometimes we have to do the decent thing and watch stuff we know will be utterly sh*te just to keep her indoors happy. And for the first few episodes it was as expected. Then strangely it got good. Then it got bl**dy good. One series, eight episodes, watch it.

    Amazon prime tv.

Ozark is probably the nearest thing to Breaking Bad in tone. It has the same intensity of plot, thrill and character turnover. The same sense of impending dread, inevitable sudden violence, the same character amorality and an ever shrinking number of characters that you would root for.

But it’s an odd sort of genre, good as it is, this descent into moral decay TV. All the characters are utterly existential in these dramas. They have no friends, don’t support a football team, watch TV, learn recipes. They just have a mission and how they react to the next obstacle.

I believe the first three seasons are the best as they are prime Harmon, I've not gone past those yet so I'll report back whether the rest of it is worth a watch. I'm surprised there was a breakdown in the relationship with Chevy Chase as he is a prominent member of the cast. I do need to catch up on the latest series of R&M as well.

It took me a long time to watch Community too mainly because its only just been added to Netflix. Tonally I'd say it's not as out there R&M or IASIP but a lot better than those drab American sitcoms with laughter tracks (I'm looking at you Big Bang Theory). It's probably most similar to Brooklyn 99 but slightly more adult in a way.

I'm going to have to give the podcast a go as it sounds like my cup of tea.

Well that’s a solid recommendation, I’ll get started on it this week and report back! Nearly all done with IASIP after starting it in March so I’ll need to fill that void.

Definitely go back to the very start of the podcast if you’re going to start listening. It started out as Dan Harmon getting plastered on vodka, bitching about the TV industry, trying to freestyle rap, arguing with his girlfriend and occasionally playing Dungeons & Dragons in front of an audience. They even went on tour early on and made a documentary about Harmon. Later on it took more of a more somber turn when Trump got elected and at a similar time Dan was going through some stuff. Still great fun though.

The Chevy Chase stuff happened back before they recorded the shows for podcasting so I don’t know exactly what went down, other than Harmon got in loads of **** for it. I think you can find some out of context audio of it on YouTube though.

    Finished Manifest Series 2.

Really poor acting and some predictable story-lines but it is still somehow incredibly fun and addictive.

Just finished Season 1 of Succession - it is so good. It's up there with breaking bad and the wire etc for me so far!

After binge watching Warehouse 13 I'm now starting Eureka which is a spin off / same universe thing. A few episodes in and enjoying it so far.
I do like the sci fi light entertainment style as a no though required wind down watch rather than having to put up with something more high brow.

I sort of lost my way towards the end of season 1. Season 2 is downloading but Ive not started it yet. Highlight for me was my trip to Dublin last year which was on the same number flight. Nothing untoward happened to me as far as I know.

It's low on my watch priority and may be deleted if space becomes an issue before I get to watch it.

Haha I'm glad you are loving it. The Dean and Pierce are two of the greatest characters going! Alison Brie also helps pique the interest.

Oh lovely Annie. I may have paused and rewound the scene when she’s throwing a ‘vase’ in the pottery class a couple of times.

The Dean’s Dalmatian/furry fetish and the Greendale human were the best recurring jokes in the series.

Noted, I’ve read it suffered after they started firing writers and it got kicked around the networks. Starting season 2 tonight though which is apparently the best!

I loved the early series but think I only made it to episode 5 or 6 in the final series - had badly gone down hill

Succession was a bit of a slow burner for me but it started to click around episode five. I love the interactions between Tom and Greg, Roman also reminds me a bit of our very own Bobby P looks wise.

Indeed - their parts definitely reflect the creator Jesse Armstrong's 'Peep Show' heritage. In fact, I reckon a comedic spin-off show focusing on them would also be excellent.

Excellent, I had no idea he was behind it and peep show is one of my all time favourites. Just at the bit where Tom takes him out for a night out, great stuff.
