I like HIGNFY but don’t think it works well in a COVID format think it all seems a bit disjointed , strangely Ranganation seems to managed this format much better

Agree with that. HIGNFY suffers from not having the canned audience laughter track I think.

This indeed is very much worth a watch. The emotionaless face of the Mother got on my nerves though.

The utterly brilliant/mesmerising 3rd series of Babylon Berlin is a very upsetting watch for me (and I'm only 3 episodes in). Why?
it's that mindbogglingly good it means that Tom Hanks's purchase of the rights to Kerr's "Bernie Gunther" series of novels (even the last three crappy ones - but TBF Kerr was dying) is only going to end in a production of an vastly inferior product. I think the best thing for him to do is just rehire the entire, German, cast and crew of Babylon Berlin and get them to make them.

Has anyone seen the hilarious mockumentary ‘Inside the factory’? The subject is bumptious presenter ‘Greg Wallace’ (we never get to learn the name of the actor playing him, presumably to play along with the premise). Greg is a ridiculous puppy dog of a man, think an enthused cross between Alan Partridge and Phil Mitchell. He is, of course, inadvertently hilarious. In the show he visits large factories to be amazed said large factories produce products in large quantities and to do so use large quantities of raw materials. Greg is left dumfounded in a pasty making factory. ‘2.1 ton of swedes! That’s a swede avalanche!’ he cries, while retaining the kind of gurning ear to ear grin usually achieved by men undertaking more solitary pursuits in the privacy of their own homes. The show is facts at the lowest possible density, that four year olds might consider undemanding. But ‘Greg’ has something you can’t put your finger on and let's face it nor would you want to.

Snowpiercer on Netflix is quite good, based off the film.

Tried Space Force which has Steve Carel and some of the guys who directed the US Office, was funny in parts but ultimately a bit of a flop.

Umbrella Academy, Dark and The Boys are all returning fairly soon as well - typical that lock down is now pretty much done and football is returning.

Being a near 40 year old male I’m probably not it’s target market, but I'm near the end and I’ve actually really enjoyed it.

I'm 43. Watched it until the end and just wanted it to hurry up and finish. Some good acting, but essentially quite boring. Watching dull people make bad life choices didn't do it for me.

Recently finished blasting through The Last Kingdom. An excellent Viking/Saxon story. Now re-watching Vikings to see which I prefer.

The Last Kingdom is very good and typical BBC fare in that the ti.ts and dragons are put aside for well researched history.

I agree, and he was a particularly frustrating character. But then I thought to myself they’re teenagers, and despite being supposedly bright people, they’re making exactly the sort of stupid decisions you make when you’re a teenager.

My path crossed with Greg Wallace in an airport once and he was horrible. Not so much of the “puppy dog” personality in evidence when the cameras are off him.

It only was bbc for season 1, and then like many things (the saddest was the series Rome) they binned it off due to money. It was only Netflix taking it on from season 2 I think and making it a Netflix Original that saved TLK. I thank them for it, have loved all the seasons.

In a way though that’s a good role for the BBC as a testing ground for shows that wouldn’t otherwise be made. That’s fine by me if Netflix take it up because once it is running they can add their own strengths to it.

The series also benefited from good source material, the original books.

I've had very little work to do, and my only option is to sit in the living room so i've just been watching TV all day...

I liked it! It took a few episodes to get into, but I think its worth a watch. It's quite similar to Big Little Lies if you've seen that. The ending was a bit annoying, but apparently they've strayed from the book on that.

I was going to ask if it was based on the book, as I’ve read that but didn’t really recognise the book from the trailers I’ve seen for the series (although they did pique my interest in the series tbf). I thought the book was good but from memory the ending was quite “open ended” and didn’t neatly wrap everything up - much like life, but less like a TV series.

Yeah, I've not read the book but my girlfriend had. I'd keen to see what you think about the ending if you do watch it, because I thought it was a bit rubbish/unrealistic - apparently in the book it's a bit more realistic.

Try this; Maddie's Do You Know?, Series 2: 3. Ice Rink and Bouncy Castle: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b09ynd37 via @bbciplayer

Shes a better presenter (in many ways) and might be easier to follow for hornmeister.

I thought this was the best place for this:

"Financial crime professor Moyara Ruehsen [no, me neither] fact checks money laundering scenes from movies and television including 'Wolf of Wall Street,' 'Ozark,' 'The Sopranos,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'Narcos,' 'The Wire,' 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit [no, me neither]..."

Agree re The Society. Wasn’t convinced after the first episode (thought it was going to be too “teen”) and left it for a while (we watched “Manifest” in the meantime). But the 13 yr old and I returned to it recently and became hooked, rattling through the first series. Now impatiently awaiting the second.

Just started watching “Dark” (has been described as a “German Stranger Things” apparently). Only watched episode 1 but so far, so good. I thought the dubbing would annoy me but didn’t really notice it after the first few minutes.

I definitely get that, the first episode was incredibly teeny but then the twist happened and it went a lot darker it improved a lot.

I've been looking at Dark for a while and it's definitely on the list. Looks like the German version of The DublinMurders.

    1. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (after a binge of the films a very, very good series)
    2. Firefly (after a discussion with my kids about Fox cancelling sci-fi shows too early - 'Serenity' was the icing on the cake).
    3. Alien Nation (after a further discussion with my kids about Fox cancelling sci-fi shows too early - an extraordinary series now particularly in light of today's BLM issues, the TV films -the penultimate one I slept through -and then the original film).
    4. Das Boot (I'd forgotten just how good the TV series was).
    5. The Plot Against America (astonishing TV adaptation of Roth's book).
    6. William Hartnell & Patrick Troughton's Doctor Who (a couple of stinkers - I should have paid the extra tenner and got the colourised blu-ray version of "The Power of the Daleks").
