Man U gone to extra time in the cup quarter final, nice spinning snapshot volley finish from Iggy cancelled out by a Cantwell goal outside the box. Would have preferred them to win fairly easily with their games against relegation threatened teams to come, but still, you'd hope their first XI (as opposed to their cup team) have enough in the tank to win those games
Since the restart the 5 bottom teams have scored 3 goals (Villa x2, Us 1). Shows how poor the bottom are and where the issues lie...
This could be a disaster. The chance of them both needing something is very unlikely so whoever needs points, will get them.
This is the big risk. I could see them both b posting attention to our game waiting to know if they need to actually play each other or not
Essentially, we’re crap at the main components of football. We can’t score, and we leak goals like a really big boat, with a really big hole in the bottom.
Not really sure about the latter in terms of letting bucket loads in. The defence has improved in terms of letting in goals but we let too many easy ones - particularly from set plays.
I actually don’t think the defence has been that bad this season. 7th worst in the league. Goals have been the major issue
We miss Delefeo. He was the 'go to man' when we counter attacked. We haven't counter attacked well on both flanks since he got injured, so if Sarr is marked well there's no one on the other side to support with any real purpose. Masina is pants as a supporting LB, and Pereyra can't be ars*d. Noone else can do it as well as Delefeo could from what I have seen.
As I said in shoutbox, I invested my season ticket refund in us going down at 3/1 after the Burnley game. We’re now under 2/1.
Extremely good odds. Especially as I can't remember us working the oppositions keeper in the last two games.
For me the problem with the CBs (aside from random poor mistakes) is that they are mostly uncomfortable on the ball, panic and that impacts our ability to build attacks and retain possession.
Everyone should lump on at 7/4 + to pay for their season ticket in next year's championship. If we can get it right next year (a big ask)we will end up back in the Premiership the season after and have a more enjoyable year in the second tier and hopefully will have got rid of a lot of dead wood from the squad.
They were certainly caught out for pace yesterday! The fact we keep rotating the centre halves show none of them are good enough consistency wise.
A month ago we were arguing that the season should be voided and no team should be relegated. Now I think there's a strong case for relegating 5 teams.
I think we should occupy all three spots, relegate us this year and the other two can be a suspended sentence for when we ever make it back again.
What I don't understand is that we have won 2 games in the last 10 or so, both 3-0 and in both we looked absolutely class and both suggested that we would walz away from the drop zone. How can we be so good in those 2 games and then so poor in the rest, with basically the same players ???
The amusing thing is if you look at the comments from Muff, Villa and West Ham fans it's the same as on here. Amazing how bad we all are.
I’d say we have too many average unmotivated players that play well every now and then. Sometimes they all happen to play well together and we got a good result, but the rest of the time the opposite applies.
The games where these teams play each other are going to be football for the ages. The highlight of the Premier League since it’s inception in 1992.
West Ham v Villa has 0-0 draw written all over it. Another point each. Bournemouth will sh1thouse their way to a win somewhere.
Looking at the fixtures, Muff and Villa have pretty hard games left. Muff: Newcastle United Spurs Leicester City Saints Villa: Liverpool United Palace Everton Arsenal West Ham You'd say that on current form - they'd probably be happy with 7 points from those, and even then I think that'll be unlikely - maybe 4 or 5? Gives me a little bit more hope, but i'm still not confident we'll win another game...
Someone (can't remember who now) was saying that on here months ago, backed up with statistics. A couple of people were very rude to him about it (unnecessarily so, too), but he was right then and he's right now.
