Interesting fact - if you set Moose and the other one on ignore, the politics forum becomes a weird wasteland in which GOBE appears to argue and agree with himself in equal measure and Bwood_Horn posts links to random articles for no reason.

These are some valid points there. i would say the age of our squad wasn’t a problem last season when we finished 11th. They are clearly attempting to address that with the focus recently on youth . signings . However not really the reason we are in a relegation scrap is it ( if that is the issue that you have ? I’m not really sure )

slow death of our youth system is more down to the fa screwing us over by making players we put years into developing virtually worthless .

investing in endless average players ? Yes you could spin it like that . Or you could say the Pozzos buy a lot of players , as there are no certainties if you buy a promising player . This makes it more likely they will uncover a gem , which makes it all worthwhile. We generally can’t afford to buy proven players and they probably wouldn’t want to join us anyway .

I fully agree with your point on QSF . That was a strange and ultimately foolish move . I think they panicked a bit but did act decisively in the end to splint Pearson . I personally don’t see that as a reason to want them out

Amazing. The person who spends his waking hours attacking others in a politics forum wasteland pops up to lecture me. Marvellous. If you bothered to follow the conversation it was quite civil until Knight did his usual "spoiled brats" nonsense so stick out of it.

As I said, I don’t feel as though I’m ill mannered with my posts but there was definitely a we just need to turn up and win feeling to the Burnley match thread and when we didn’t get our own way we threw a bit of a tantrum. I would class that as spoiled brats. I actually thought it was still civil until you had a pop at me but if I’ve upset you I apologise because that is not what I intended to do

Frankly I don't get where you get this "turn up and win" stuff. It's Burnley. Depleted yes, but it's always going to be a hard game. It was a missed opportunity but not an open goal. The "tantrum" (off you go again) was because of the utterly dreadful performance and the complete lack of urgency and intelligence in our play. This group of players are extremely unlikeable and such reactions are pretty natural.

You accuse me of personal attacks as a way of winning an argument you lack the means to win otherwise. And yet everywhere on the forum it’s you belittling others. Decide for once which person you are going to be.

I think Burnley are an interesting comparison. Like Bournemouth, a huge chunk of their success is based on their manager rather than the owners. When they leave they'll regress to the mean IMO. I think this is where the Pozzo model has been a success.

Rumours coming out of Burnley saying that Dyche might be off because of a lack of funds, let's see how that pans out. Bournemouth as we all know are well-backed, so isn't the fairytale it's made out to be, not sure how much of their success has been down to Howe. The Pozzos have given us some great moments, although if we go down, we might be up **** creek again, hope it doesn't come down to that this season...

As much as I dislike him, I do think people have forgotten the incredible job Howe did to get them from -17 in league 1 to the Prem. Although someone well placed did tell me that Matt Richie was on 45K in the championship!

I also think the teams that go down this season might actually be ok - they'll have a lot more money than all the championship clubs.

Yea fair point. But Burnley if they went down are in a much healthier position than we are.

Read the posts Jumbo. All the posts were suggesting it would be walk in the park against a bunch of tired reserves. I had to post to remind the optimists that they were a much better side, still had good forwards, and should be favourites.

Oh yeah, Howe has done great to get them out of the lower leagues after the **** they were in (didn't they have huge points deductions in both League 1 and League 2?), but after getting them to their current position, I wouldn't call what he's done in recent years a miracle (unlike Dyche getting Burnley into Europe).

Can't remember exactly what the FFP rules are in the Championship and how they differ from the Premier League (don't we have that £4m fine to pay for the forged letter whenever we next enter the Champo?), but we have a lot of debt, and owners who can't cover much of it unlike Villa or Bournemouth. I guess we might be in the running for promotion if we go down, but every season afterwards gets harder, so it's certainly a worry

I am sorry but I don't get this at all, The Pozzo's have been a God send for our Club. We were more likely to plummet down the football league before them and our stadium was literally falling down. They have give us the best Watford team I have ever seen in my lifetime, took us to a FA Cup final, play off final, promotion and kept us in the Premier League so far.

Well No, I was highlighting that they have taken this Club to a higher level on and off the pitch than what was really imaginable before they arrived. Was losing to Palace by a penalty in Extra time really that embarrassing anyway?

It’s ok guys, Gino made that good signing. You know, the really good one. So all of the crap we’ve signed is fine.

No I was there, admittedly we never performed but losing by a soft penalty in extra time is far from embarrassing. The fact we were even there in the first place was because of our performance over 46 league games.

  24. Be careful what you wish for. We've had far worse owners, remember the ones who sold off the ground? And then we had to share a field of mud with the egg chasers.

Sorry I am not buying this, the club is good hands, admittedly we need to reassess our strategy and we needed to invest more. I think it was bad judgement by the club because we were strong last season but the club is more secure now than what it has ever been. Do we really need to remind people about the mess we were in before the Pozzo family arrived?

No no. Please remind us. It's never mentioned what they did over 8 years ago off the field when discussing the issues that have built up on the pitch ever since we got promoted.

If the barometer of success for any owner is 'didn't bust the club' and 'built a new stand so they could increase match day revenue', then I would ask at what date do those two items stop being a go-to excuse when anyone ever criticises them in the now?

End of the day, they aren't getting another penny of mine whilst Giraldi is still there stinking the place up. As he's allowed to stay employed despite a complete and utter failure from a 'technical direction' standpoint, I lay the blame at the door of the boss.

Still it looks like some would let Gino Pozzo sh*t in their own mouths and still not criticise him.

He has saddled the club with external debt.

Let the recruitment side free fall into a mess while he is doing dodgy deals to line his own pockets.

Made WFC a laughing stock with his treatment of managers.

    Overseen record humiliating defeats.

“built” (I use the term very loosely) a shambolic aging squad of chancers.

    Open your eyes.

They can sell my season ticket onto one of the mythical 3,000 on the waiting list. They are not getting a penny out of me.

  30. Far too many drama queens.

Sure Pozzo and Duxbury have made plenty of errors, but they're still the best owners we've had since Elton.

People have very short memories. The club has been close to administration on multiple occasions over the last 30 years.

Changing managers embarrassing? A ramshackle 3 sided ground is embarrassing.

I would be interested to know what people on here wants g the Pozzos our would consider A good owner and what they would like out of that owner ?

For me, supporting a club Of Watford’s size is about moments . We are never likely to win much . So I appreciate the great moments when they happen .

for example : The incredible football we played under Zola , the amazing 2014/15 season ending in promotion. Done great performances at the vic , eg beating Man Utd /spurs /Liverpool /Chelsea . The run to the Fa cup final last year . Genuinely some of my favourite Football memories ever , which I will treasure. Maybe that’s just me ? I don’t remember as fondly Watching a bunch of players giving 100% and losing consistently to better teams in the 90s and 2000’s.

The Pozzos have given me all these memories and also provided us with a much better ground than the 3 sided shambles we had when they arrived . Together with upholding the traditions and history of the club.

And I don’t necessarily thinks this is the end just because we are facing probable relegation from the premier league and it’s been a miserable season .

I’m genuinely interested to know, from the people who want the Pozzos out , what do you want from supporting Watford and what do you expect a good owner to deliver ?

I’m not taking about ifs buts and maybes . I’m referring To actual things happening on and off the pitch . What is it you would like to see or to have seen ? We must differ a lot in our expectations .

Well, we're going to end up back in the Championship at some point, and when we do, we're not going to be in a particularly healthy position like Burnley or Norwich (?), so it's likely we'll be back to staving off relegation to League 1 before too long (hopefully not quite as bad as under Bassini, and the stadium and facilities look much better now). But hey, you're right, it's better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all, right?

It’s a bit of a moot point, they own the club, they’re not a dispensable manager.

We look nailed on for relegation, which I think is actually the least likely situation that would lead to them selling up. The club is worth a lot less out of the PL, so before they look to get out they’ll very likely need/want to get us promoted again.
