  1. I notice on social media a lot of the objectors are Watford supports not wanting to move. Pretty pathetic.

But also unsurprising. You only have to think back over 10 to 15 years of Wobby stories about developments at the club to see we have a high proportion of naysayers and refusniks. Even relatively recently there's been the nonsense controversies over Z Cars being played, that plonker putting bin bags on Upper GT seats because of the extended corporate seating up there or the arguments over moving the 1881 to somewhere central. I'm sure there's more I've forgotten.

Why is it pathetic? Personally I will have no viable way of getting to the new ground as public transport is sh*t, walking is too far and parking will be non existant. Shall I hope for 19 Sunny saturdays so I can ride the bike there?

Why is moving so important when we don't even sell out play off semi finals at home?

I suspect they would even choose to stick with the old moose badge if given the chance to update it.

So why is it pathetic that 100% of fans aren't happy? Do you get asked everything twice?

  7. Who do you think you are demanding answers?

Ok I'll bite you arrogant twit.

It's pathetic to obstruct the stadium by hiding behind online petitions. Show some cajones, Be a man. Demand to see Scott Duxbury and explain to him why he's completely wrong.

It's pathetic to jump to conclusions based on zero evidence. How do you know the club aren't going to subsidise public transport on match days? How do you know they aren't going to build enough car parking for every fan to drive a minibus to every game? Have you ever known the club to press on with something totally ignoring supporters wishes? Why do you think they will start now?

It's pathetic to think Gino and Scott, after all they have done for the club, are now going to do something as destructive to the club as wet spams owners have done to theirs. Based on what evidence?

I'm on board with a new stadium, but it's fine for people not to be, either for sentimental or practical reasons.

As for hiding behind petitions, it's a simple way to begin the demonstration of opposition to something. Again, nothing wrong with that. If plans progress there will be a chance to put specifics forward to decision makers (i.e. the council) for those opposed on political grounds, and I'm sure fan input for those who have issues with the potential impact on the club.

Life would be boring if we all thought the same thing.

    An "Arrogant Twit"?

Evidence? The best new build of them all, Brighton. But it's not in Brighton is it, it's too far to walk and there's no parking. OK there's a train line, which is so bad fans leave early every game so they don't get stuck in a hours queue. That's the best.
We don't need to leave the Vic, it's perfect.

Am I missing something here. Why do people make out that this potential move is too far out of town to walk? It’s about the same distance from town but the opposite direction. If you. Can’t be arsed walking an extra 5 to 10 minutes to support your club it’s you that’s got the problem and not the club. I love the vic and been going since the early 80’s but we have to move with the times and I for one am excited at the prospect of having a new stadium that we can be proud to call home.

  11. Yes arrogant, insisting I answer your question.

You seem to have made your mind up it will have poor public transport, no parking, and won't be walkable, and the club is going to stick 2 fingers up to your transport difficulties based on not a shred of evidence.

The club obviously disagree with you and see there might be a need to move.

It depends where you live doesn't it ! I can walk to the ground in about 30 mins. It would be > an hour to walk from where I live and presume Diamond has the same problem.

WillisWasTheWorst Its making less grammar mistake's thats important

Most supporters don’t have the luxury of being able to walk to the ground anyway, so it doesn’t make any difference to them. Parking will always be difficult no matter where the ground is.

We all have to walk to the ground. It just depends if you are lucky enough to walk from home or had to travel to park etc.

There is no where close to park now, more parking would be needed.

And your assumptions are based on what evidence? Easy to arrange a meeting with Mr Duxbury is it? On first name terms with them are you?

A petition is a perfectly reasonable way to show that a large number of people are opposed. I encourage all to sign it to stop this madness.

I'm also with those who are against the move because of the extra walk. At the moment it'd only take me 12 hours 20 minutes to walk to the ground, but if they move to Bushey it'd be another 10 minutes, sod that.

I agree, I think the Pozzo's should decide democratically. Let the people decide.

So far several thousand have signed the petition against the move, and around 65m havn't, so it looks like we're moving.

  20. I have made no assumptions, as even a single celled amoeba could tell by reading my posts. The fact you believe I have helps clarify your evolutionary achievements.

The club are quite approachable, write SD a polite letter laying out the concerns you and your pals have. I would be very surprised if you didn't get a reply.

No I'm not on first name terms. Why on earth would I need to be?

I think basically the footprint of the Vicarage Road stadium is not big enough for what the owner feels is the requirement for a progressive Premier League club.

Now, that could all go down the pan if we get relegated. All talks of moving to a new stadium will be all but over. We'd have to start again as a club, rebuild a squad that will challenge for promotion and the lottery of a Championship season. All focus will be on that. You can only really talk about new stadiums when you're an established Premier League club and make use of the money the EPL gives you.

In our case, if we want to expand, and this is not just capacity, we need to move. The Vicarage Road site, being so boxed in, makes it very difficult to increase revenue streams. Building a new stadium gives you a blank canvass, to factor in all your requirements, to improve the image of the club, to attract better players, to increase fanbase by allowing more fans to attend, improved matchday experiences, all those commercial opportunities are increased too. The bottom line is moving to a new stadium will improve Watford financially over a long term rather than staying at VR.

We sell out of seats and corporate stuff 6 games a season. I've had countless emails on a Thursday or Friday before a game offering me the chance to upgrade to a lounge or whatever. If we don't sell what we have it seems silly spending a huge amount of money on building more. Just seems a bit pointless really.

If you look at it for "today's" needs you can come to the conclusion that VR is probably ok. But, and I like this a lot, the owner wants to expand. He wants to take Watford to the next level. A new stadium does this. Do we really want to stand still? In the 21st century you really do need to move with the times in order to progress, or even just to keep up.

VR has lasted 98 years. Had there is real been scope to redesign and innovate, then I'm all for staying put, but the site is too small for the expansion programme the club are planning.

For me, it's very exciting and gives the impression the owners want to take Watford to the next level. The next level being an established Premier League club, rather than one that's continually looking over its shoulder.

It's called ambition, and to see Watford's owner with ambition, is a very good thing in my book.

We'll spend 3 years building it. It'll look really good. It'll have all the facilities and will be just what we need. The fans will be salivating at it. Just we are about to move in, Pozzo will sell it to Bushey Rangers.

Fans will say it was **** and would never be good enough anyway.

Nothing wrong with ambition - I'm just querying what a new stadium would achieve other than empty platitudes and to satisfy the demands who say 'we must build a stadium to move with the times'. And a big mortgage of course. We'd have more chance of reaching the 'next level' with better player recruitment, and at the forefront of that is £££ rather than a shiny stadium.

Of course there are clubs who have grown in stature by expanding/moving - Southampton, Leicester, Brighton etc. But they had a demand to satisfy.

There are also loads of clubs who have regressed after a move to a new stadium - Arsenal, Sunderland, Cardiff, Swansea, Derby, West Ham.

Good to have ambition but nothing wrong with querying whether it is going on the correct things. Still having Cathcart, Deeney, Mariappa as mainstays in our squad five years after promotion shows a lack of ambition that is currently a gnats todger away from biting us on the bum.

I'm against a stadium move for sentimental reasons. The Vic represents Watford FC for me. It's where I spent my youth and many special moments.

If we leave the Vic, it'll be cutting a big cord that connects me to the club. I won't be watching our winger run it down the same line trodden by Scullion and Cally. I won't be looking at the rookery, scoreboard end, shrodells or main stand and knowing how they've developed over the decades to be completely different from one another and housing completely different fans.

My daughter is at Brighton Uni, so I've had a good close look at the stadium there and it's surrounds. If that's as good as it gets, then no thanks. Anonymous sterile and nothing to identify one set of seats from another. If you took identifiers such as seat colour out of it, I'd be hard pressed to identify it from inside from Leicester's or Southampton's.

After visiting such stadia, I'm always glad that we've got our homely Vic to play at.

Honestly, if we go down there is literally no point in doing this. Unless we bounce straight back (and twice in the recent past we've cocked that up nicely), crowds will start to dwindle and who knows so might the Pozzo's overall interest.

The business case must be viable if we are in the champ or it doesn't make sense. If we don't go down this year, it will be next year. We won't spend the next 10 years in the prem, the lower champ is our level based on support and finances.

If it were Big Bad Baz or someone similar suggesting it I'd run a mile.

But as it's the Pozzo's I have faith it's the right thing to do and find it quite exciting.

If new stadium could also equal new striker then that would be good.

Arsenal, Bolton and MK Dons' new stadia have really taken them to a new level, haven't they? It's owners who can flash the cash on transforming the team that really make the difference - new stadia are needed when everyone's clamouring for tickets. "If you build it they will come" is a myth. And we didn't get bigger attendances when Arsenal were rebuilding Highbury and their capacity was severely reduced.

On the other hand, there's Leicester. I don't think that's not typical, but I wouldn't mind Watford replicating what they've done.
