Do not take the test for the virus as gospel. The PCR test most commonly used has a 80% false positive failure rate and the inventor of the test said it should not be used to diagnose infectious diseases. It is virtually impossible to get an accurate diagnosis for COVID-19 any contamination with the other tests could also result in a false positive. An accurate test is expensive and takes time. There have also been patients in hospitals with many of the symptoms who have tested negative for COVID -19 but have still been diagnosed as having COVID-19 by a doctor. Lots of scientists have said that the published figures are not accurate. The virus will in my opinion go away in the summer as according to several scientists the virus of this type has a 70 day peak period before weakening significantly regardless of lockdown/ social distancing. The same pattern appears to be occurring elsewhere. It is in my opinion a virus that spreads quickly and goes into remission quickly.

The R number ( infection rate) has become very low especially in London despite the increased use of public transport and reduced social distancing suggesting that the virus is not as widespread as it was and may be ( temporarily?) vanishing. That does not mean there is no risk but the risk is far lower than what it was in my opinion. I fear that it might return in the winter and American politicians have also stated that their science advisers have stated this is likely although not guaranteed. The virus most likely will have peaks and disappearances for the next few years just like flu season. Even if a vaccine is introduced ( a safe vaccine usually takes at least 4 years to produce, a rushed out one would not have its long term effects established) it does not guarantee lifetime immunity. The flu vaccine has a 45% success rate on average per year so many still get the flu despite taking the vaccine. Honestly professional footballers are in a very low risk category for getting seriously ill with COVID-19 and you cannot remove the risk entirely but the risk in my opinion is minimal. The virus does not make people ill its their immune systems trying to get rid of the virus that causes the symptoms so those with weak immune systems are most at risk as their immune systems overreact causing more dangerous symptoms. We cannot also remove the risk of footballers getting the flu during flu season or getting a bad injury during a game of football. I worked as a community healthcare professional in the past so I do have insight into healthcare and it is important to look at the facts rather than the hysteria and a game of football in the open air should not be a major threat to footballers. The virus was far more prevalent in January, February and March than it is now and very few players became ill with COVID -19 then and those that did mainly got a cough. If it was not a crisis then I fail to see how it will be a crisis now especially if a second peak does not occur this summer. As far as I know Bundesliga footballers are not getting ill since their football matches have resumed. I do not think it will be a problem in the short term. Personally I believe that the virus worldwide is in remission for at least the next few months ( hopefully forever).

If you disagree that is OK but I have been right about a few things in this crisis so far including dismissing Neil Ferguson's computer models when the media were taking them seriously during March as I knew he had a history of wildly inaccurate predictions and that his models were not peer reviewed.

Well I am against restarting but at least we can now all pull together and slag off the team rather than each other,

No idea what will happen but am very nervous should be an exciting(or painful) end to the season. Not sure if we have it in us but can’t imagine Bournemouth happy with there keeper testing positive (not sure how long he will be out for , but guess he can’t train)

I think playing behind closed doors benefits us more than any other team.

Our pathetic fans are about as intimidating to the opposition as a drink of water, and our jelly-spined players always fall to pieces in a slightly noisy stadium.

It's the perfect scenario for us.

For those with Sky sports, check out the Australian NRL coverage that's on now.

It's got fake crowd noises. I am actually surprised how realistic it is. They seem to link it with action quite well.

Still don't think I'd want it on EPL games but it's interesting to see it in action.

Just flicked it on. It does work, and like you say they’re mixing it to mimic what is happening on the pitch.

Presumably Sky etc have separate recordings of the crowd noise for each stadium? So if they wanted to they could individually recreate the same effect for each ground to make it as realistic as possible

I used to go to NRL games quite a bit and it is probably easier to recreate the crowd noise because there is no coordinated chanting or singing. Well, not much anyway.

I think getting it right in the EPL would be much harder.

I was very impressed with the way the Australians have got the crowd noises to reflect the game though.

This is where Norwich’s point comes in.

It's clear that the PL is coming back, but the championship TV deal is worth sod all so I doubt they’ll be anywhere near as motivated to restart. They’ll be even less inclined to if they know the PL is and they can sit back and rely more on some sort of PPG system to promote Leeds.

If we have to finish our league, if they want promotion they should have to finish theirs.

I agree, if the EFL choose to do promotions and relegations between their three divisions without kicking a ball again this season, that's down to them and their members to decide. They can't promote from the Championship any more than they can relegate Stevenage into a competition run by another entity.
