Intrigued to read the comments made by ex-scum and now Stoke manager Nathan Jones the past few days. To those that have been too preoccupied to keep an eye on our destination for next year, Stoke are doing even worse than us with only 2 points from 10 games this season. "I gambled everything and it hasn't paid off," Jones told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I left a wonderful club, a wonderful group of people that were really on their way up," the 46-year-old said. (Apparently there is no accounting for people's tastes) "I gambled with other people's lives as well, my staff's lives, my wife's life. That is the thing for me that is really hurting because I worked so hard to get to a certain position and it just hasn't worked out. "I came to a wonderful club with wonderful owners, and I can't thank them enough. The fans have given me patience but I haven't repaid them." Pretty refreshing in a day and age where managers spout off the same old cliches, hardly ever taking any responsibility. But how would you feel if a Watford boss had come out with something like this? Essentially an admission that the man in charge of their club doesn't think he is up to the task. Not sure it would inspire me to give the man full backing and the belief to avoid relegation, yet Stoke's owners have apparently backed him despite him appearing to have thrown in the white towel. Surely if a manager comes out doubting his ability to turn a dire situation around he has to go?
Yes my thoughts too. Also setting himself up nicely to be taken back in by the scum when they sack their current manager a month or too from now.
… Oh winter's passed spring and fall You never rung me, you never called Nathan Jones you've been gone too long
They are going to bring him back ! Not sure how this will go down with the fans ?! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...rning-luton-town-manager-16-months-departure/
Very good. I've been doing 'beat the intro' rounds for lockdown quizzes, might have to put that one in. Did Reflections last week.
Yes. He was in the brink of 2 successive promotions and was tempted by the lure of a bigger club with hopes of getting back into the prem. Spectacular failure by both him at Stoke and his replacement at Luton meant this was always on the cards. However will be hilarious to see the reaction of the fans if they have a poor start next season !
Yes, I'm not surprised at the happening. Always thought that someday they'd be together again and he'd be back in their arms again. Hopefully he won't be supreme this time.
Their message board has been hilarious reading: 1. Nathan Jones has left us for Stoke, the treacherous **** 2. Gary Sweet really hates NJ's complete lack of ethics - LTFC would never behave in such a way 3. Nathan Jones is having a nightmare at Stoke. Good, the treacherous **** 4. Graeme Jones is a fantastic coach and lots of much bigger clubs were after him 5. Graeme Jones is ****, wish they would sack him 6. Graeme Jones leaves by mutual consent. Gary Sweet is a shrewd chairman who has done this for purely financial reasons to save the club in a time of crisis for football 7. We are not looking for a manager but if we were, we would certainly not want that treacherous **** back 8. Gary Sweet appoints NJ - welcome back NJ, best manager we have had in decades. They make Brendan Rodgers and Ssssssssilva look ethical. And they still try to adopt the moral high ground over the rest of the football world.
I do a lockdown quiz on a Friday with Nug and Wiz, among others. We usually do a music round with a theme. I like to do a first lyrics round too. Always popular. 1. Like the legend of the phoenix, All ends with beginnings? 2. Every night in my dreams, I see you, I feel you? 3. Tommy used to work on the docks, union's been on strike? 4. I stay out too late, got nothing in my brain? 5. Well, my friends, the time has come, raise the roof and have some fun? 6. Well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I’m a woman’s man, no time to talk 7. She’s into superstitions, black cats and voodoo dolls. 8. Go, go, go, go go, go, go, shawty, it’s your birthday
