Yes I've heard the same. Only D&E fulfill the "sporting merit" criteria.

I know you’re all joking... but in all seriousness how could D & E even be conceived and spoken about as ideas by anyone?

Any sort of simulation of results is grossly unfair and will ultimately be completely inaccurate to what real life would’ve been. So I know, in a situation where were desperate to get games back and the season finished at all costs, lets instead expunge actual real results that happened and replace them with simulated results that didn’t happen.

If ever such a method was used I would genuinely give up any interest in football for good, it would be the most farcical thing imaginable.

The FA moved from Lancaster Gate about 20 years ago. I presume you're using it in the sense that journalists refer to 'Fleet Street'.

You're missing the point entirely about why we have "lockdown".

Fit? Healthy? under 40 years old? You'll be ok. Not nice, maybe could be complicated if you have bad asthma or underlying health issues. But not much worse than flu if indeed worse at all.

The problems the infection rate and what it does to the old folk and the already ill. I'm staying home because if I have it, I could kill my parents by passing it on, or your parents if they atrend my workplace or you, who then infect your parents. Thats why the lockdown isnt just those who are at risk.

yep seems odd to even include D and E , these seem like they are there as they didn’t like the results of ABC or D

Thanks, that does sort of make sense about the scaling. Although as hornetfan pointed out the article is a bit out of date.

More recently I read they are currently doing 48 hour tests:

    https://www.skysports.com/football/...sting-causing-no-strain-on-nhs-says-prenetics

It’s still not totally clear to me but I do get the efficiencies point and it certainly helps to answer my point which I appreciate. If they are doing 48 hour tests then I’m not sure how that offers complete safety as a player could catch it after the test and before he next trains/plays.

I saved a lot money on not getting the train to see us lose. I've spent the saved cash on 'posher' wine from Sainsbury's and listening to bad 80s rock music in the garden whilst working from home.

I'm not sure what should happen, it's all become very abstract.

What sort of team will we be able to field when the season starts ? How many hours training as a unit will they have undertaken ? What mental state will the players be in ? What a shambles.

I think the damage is as much mental as anything at the moment. They are still training separately so I don't think team training will be impacted so much. That will be more when they can actually play in groups or 11v11.

Hopefully those training at home are still keeping their fitness up and most will rejoin the team next week.

I'm sure the morale can't be that great at the moment though.

Well the phase 2 has to be voted on I think.

Presume we will say no to the re-start.

Anyonelse fed up of fans of other clubs slagging the club off? Even seen a Sheffield United fan say we faked the tests. Bring back football so we can be the ones to boo the orns

    The Liverpool fans are hysterical..

You'd think we were their main rivals ahead of them for the title so want the season stopped.

Never mind the fact that even if the season was cancelled Liverpool would still win the league going by what the FA have said about needing a result based outcome.

And ofcouse little old Watford have all the power to make the Premier league stop the season all by ourselves due to a few positive tests ( of which one is actually a player ..)

We'll be told tough luck and get on with it.

Like HB1 says the league will only take it seriously when a few high profile teams and players suffer.

I think they should play the remaining games in London and teams should use the empty hotels as bases to isolate where necessary. The Capital is virtually virus free with very few people being tested positive per day.

As you know, I don’t buy a lot of the conspiracy stuff that gets said on here - and I’m not convinced that if one club (ie. us) suffers to a large degree that they still might not halt things - but I do massively agree that if one of the big clubs were to suffer to even the level we currently are, then the PL would be taking far more notice.

Given Kante looks unlikely to be back soon, I reckon a couple more Chelsea players might see the season ended...

I actually find that Leeds fans are worse. The virus has taken a club legend in Norman Hunter - yet they still bleat on about playing through the virus. No self-awareness at all.

Probably the younger fans who couldn't care less about some guy from the 70s.

Ofcouse even when Kabasele says he was happy to play and train but maybe given more time to prepare the media headlines suggested he didn't want to start in June without explaining what he meant.

Steve Bruce said the same and Jose I believe but nothing was really reported.

I don't think we are getting anywhere tbh apart from a lot of negative press.

On the BBC site there is an interview with the Premier league chief saying we are confident of starting in June...

So our worries obviously don't mean much.

Yes but if there were high figure cases or issues from various teams he'd be rather less confident..

We will probably just be seen as a blip or oddity.

Or making it all up ..

  31. lowerrous

    lowerrous First Team

I was simply pointing out that your post was not relevant, as a 76 year-old has nothing to do with the ability of the current Leeds team to be able to play or not.

He wasn't saying the current team couldn't play because someone had died.

Think he was suggesting their fans had lost some perspective in all of this by complaining about the league potentially being cancelled when one of their own died of the illness.

I would say wanting the league cancelled because an old club legend had died would be losing perspective. There's usually some tributes, black armbands, and a minute's applause before a match when such things occur, but people don't consider cancelling the season from it. No one expected Watford to stop playing after GT died.

And my original post was talking of Leeds fans, not current ability to play fixtures.

So you think we want the league cancelled?

We might as well just say it then like West Ham did at the start rather then go around the houses with players not training questions about the start date.

I agree things cannot stop as such but think the point was they just had lost a bit of perspective - or maybe weren't that bothered?

To younger fans it probably meant nothing maybe ..
