I read it as they have agreed to end the season as it is with a PPG system to derive final positions. From that they are still planning promotion and even play offs, though relegation is a bit up in the air at the moment as they have asked for it not to happen.

I am copying from a tweet I’ve just read but it raises a good point...

If all these players are in their protected bubble and being tested etc etc - why are they not hugging when celebrating etc and socially distancing on the bench? Surely the whole point is they don’t have the virus and can’t get it in that environment...isn’t it?

A bunch of people acting like simpletons posing silly questions towards me while providing zero evidence themselves is no "proof" of anything (except for perhaps the 'madness of crowds' theory).

  6. lowerrous

Nope. If you don't want to be considered a simpleton you could just stop acting and posting like a simpleton - putting forward the same banal questions as other people on here have already done twice over, while yourself contributing the square root of zilch to the conversation over than diarrhoeal soundbites.

If the same points are being raised By a number of people it probably points towards the person on the other side of the agreement being a bit of a turd. Let’s move on

..or the number of people not being able to read the thread properly.

I'm fine with moving on, but it doesn't help when people such as yourself pop-up to try and ask me to cover ground which I'd already clearly covered.

Do World Cups come with a added incentive of catching a deadly disease?

Actually, that's pretty much any night out in Burnley.

    Fair point.

Just trying to get the thread back on track and play a bit of devils advocate regarding the risk etc, I don’t want to reignite the debate about that again, but this is a genuine thought I've been having....

If football does get back underway again, the players will be tested twice a week, in theory they’ll be in a bubble and in a safer environment than most people. The biggest risk of catching it will be from each other, but with the regular testing and the fact that they’ll all start off in theory without it then the chances will be slim.

It is however highly likely that a lot of the players take issue with the risk, including none other than our very own Troy. Now I’m not disagreeing with that and I wouldn’t necessarily blame them for doing so, but let’s say because if this football can’t get started again because the players think it’s too risky, what then...

Will all the players (Troy included) self isolate in their homes until there is a vaccine? I appreciate there is being put at risk by doing your job, and then there is being put at risk through doing things to stay alive like going to the supermarket, but what if the season is called off, what happens when one of the players is caught having one of their sex parties?

If playing Football, which let’s face it will genuinely be one of the lowest risk things you could possibly do is deemed to risky, will that mean they won’t do anything else?

    Two points you've missed.

    1. Isolation also more or less rules out the chance of catching a deadly disease - a disease that has already killed 71 young men under 35 and will go on to kill more.
    2. The post I was answering wasn't directly related to the disease. The point I was answering was that it was "shocking at best" to suggest that footballers should isolate from their families for four weeks just to play football. Even though it is already established that most footballers are ready and willing - more than that, anxious - to do it.

Which players are that anxious to come back?

Not really heard much either way really from most teams /players tbh.

None of our other players have commented on the situation.

Just Deeney who as you will know is petty outspoken and tbh would probably say what he thinks has we been mid table - like Pearson.

The point was that they're anxious to isolate from their families if a World Cup place is available. The idea of isolating from families just to play football is not a shocking new idea.

Well yes maybe that is what will happen.

Be tough but maybe nerds must ?

I got the impression they were actually worried about going back to their families after playing and potentially passing the virus on.

I accept people will say many people have been taking such risks for weeks as key workers at a much greater risk apparently.

Maybe the top players will be well used to being away from their family but none of ours will be particularly.

But they don't isolate from their families at a World Cup you ******* moron. Remember the 'WAGs' in Germany? Or that Maguire talking to his missus photo from the last World Cup?

You seem to fall into the super football nerd category. All *checks notes* Ashley Barnes does is play football and train. He has no family or friends and any free time he has is taking up thinking about football.

At a World Cup, they get put in stasis, only coming out for training and football matches. They are also all virgins who never think about sex or women. Much like yourself.

They’ve for a greater risk of getting it from their families when they go back to them then visa versa though surely? They’ll be tested twice a week so if they haven’t got it where would they get it from? Compared to say their kids going back to school, or their wife popping out to Waitrose?

I presume they won't be allowed to go back then ?

Doesn't seem very clear which is maybe part of the problem.

I don't think squad players will take being stuck in a hotel for weeks though without playing no matter how many times they tested.

What I did find depressing and laughable was the media incl BBC sport, talksport and the betting companies bigging up the bundesliga, a set of matches hardly anyone cares about before yesterday, won't care about when we get our own sport back played in a ore season like soulless atmosphere.

I for one won't be watching or listening to the clueless pundits droning on pretending they know or care about the German league.

I thought Dortmund applauding a non-existent audience for their support after the game was hilarious. As was going to all the trouble of putting on masks only to hold hands and continue to embrace an empty stadium. Funny as ****.

    Then I realised it wasn't a parody.

So I've learnt this morning that hotel staff can't catch the virus, or if they can, they can't transmit it to others, or if they can, it doesn't matter because they are probably foreign anyway so they don't really count and that they should just accept that a percentage of them are going to die as a result of going to work and they should be allowed to be heroes and stop whining about it, because football is the most important thing in the world right now.

    And breathe...

As you intimate mrLizard in your tongue in cheek post, it just aint going to work

Even if they pay everyone that comes into contact with the players in the hotels, coach drivers and all the match-day staff to go into lockdown with them for the six weeks or so it would take to finish all the games, which the PL clubs could possibly afford to do.

How would they make that work for a whole season?

I fear for all contact sports until we can defeat this disease, as they might not survive!

Really? The Spanish flu of 1918-19 was much worse, certainly with regards to the fact it was a bigger killer of people in their prime, yet contact sports continued shortly after as did the 1920 Olympics.
