It gives the brand legitimacy. With Sports Direct their branding sometimes makes me think 'they can't be that sh1t' but then I walk into one of their shops and realise they are.

Based on the footage of tube trains and buses today, the second spike is just around the corner, so as stated about 6 weeks ago, planning to end the PL season by playing any games was an exercise in delusion

Talk of various players having different viewpoints on how safe the season is to start ..

No one is really ready or keen are they ..

Did Germany have such divisions I wonder in terms of how to start ?

PPG will always be flawed because everyone hasn’t played the same teams home and away. That’s why we have the league system we do.

Yes/no/maybe. The R rate in London is very low (some estimates as low as 0.35) so very little infection around and plenty of room for the R to go up and not be an issue. Everything is still closed, pubs restaurants etc. Pretty much all office workers still working from home. Public transport is a weak link no doubt about that, but it’s currently more or less the only weak link in the chain, so no guarantees that on its own it sends cases shooting back up. It’s not like pre lockdown when it could run absolutely wild, not yet at least.

Imagine two of the teams that end up getting relegated were not even in the relegation zone when the season ended.

PPG is also flawed in that if thble use of decimals and how we award 3 points for a win.

    Pos Team P W D L F A GD Pts PPG
    8 Tottenham 29 11 8 10 47 40 +7 41 1.413
    9 Arsenal 28 9 13 6 40 36 +4 40 1. 1.429

Arsenal are one point behind Tottenham and on PPG have played better.

But looking at the w/d/l they will have likely drawn or lost that game in hand 68% of the time leaving them behind on points or goal difference.

From what they said on Talksport the German players will have to social distance when they get to the ground and will be tested - subs away from the starting players etc.

Once the game starts they can play as normal but the managers might have to wear masks!

Then what I found a little strange and risky is they will be allowed home to family but they all have to isolate so really is a case of relying on players etc being very disciplined!

This was for the first weeekend then they will asses afterwards.

Are they doing socially distanced corner routines?

    They could watch us .

We are good at social distancing marking from corners !

That was really good - made me chuckle for the first time in ages. Thank you. :)

We are just as good at social distancing when we are trying to score from corners at the other end too :D

I think I am right in saying that we have not scored from the result of a cross from a corner this season.

I don’t think there is any chance the season won’t finish, however if the subject does get raised again, it will be interesting to hear the view of the Burnley chap who came on here and called us all selfish for wanting it.

Ive no idea what context this is seeing as you’ve dragged out a thread from a year ago. Is this a gotcha based that the NHS director said 20k deaths would be a good result? Or are you suggesting Covid has a 3-4% mortality rate?

Edit: If you want to go over a discussion from a year ago then put it in the Covid thread rather than in the football bit I guess.

COVID cases fortunately are dropping and being outpaced by vaccinations. Likewise footballers testing positive are dropping. Think we can say with reasonable confidence now the season is going to finish on schedule.

Better make the most of it.

Seems likely to be the case, yes.

Would be absolutely peak Watford if the season got cancelled with us in 1st place, though, while the season we got relegated went through to completion.
