Just watched the first episode of Defending Jacob on Apple TV (I watched it on Kodi) - must say it's got me hooked.

The "Superb Owl" episode show just how well the cast and writers interact - take a lame pun and transform it into a well-rounded story with some excellent set-piece gags.

It took me a couple of minutes to clock that joke...and then I giggled for several minutes.

In a way, difficult to say without ruining it though. They’re basically developing something. I didn’t think it was absolutely amazing, but a good watch none the less.

I also spent all of Sunday watching Gangs of London. Ridiculously brutal and OTT, but fairly compelling none the less, I enjoyed it despite some silliness here and there.

I’m very late to the party on this one. Finally got round to watching “After Life” this evening, after several friends had recommended it. Binge-watched the first four episodes so have really enjoyed it so far. Great cast and have found it funny and moving. Funnily enough, though, already agree about the therapist character - don’t feel he adds anything.

Just finished S3 of Westworld, was alright but nothing compared to S1 and S2.

Watched the first few episodes, bits are very funny but it just felt very preachy, like Ricky Gervais is trying to make the audience stop and think about stuff. Bit too patronising.

Everyone is raving about "normal people", halfway through and not convinced. 2 people who are essentially quite boring, in a melodrama with hilariously bad sex scenes.

    Code 404 on Sky.
Interesting spin on the cop buddy genre with some comedy and scifi thrown in.

The 'A' Word on BBC is very good family drama. I should however warn forumites that no one brutally murders anyone, takes or bakes crystal meth nor is there titty.

Quite honestly, I felt the last 3 or 4 episodes were terrible and has almost destroyed the show. We waited 2 years for that??

Really like that series - a couple of episodes behind the latest one so don’t know who won yet. It’s nice to watch a reality show which is a genuine challenge, is interesting and seems to feature decent people. And nice to be reminded of a time when we could still go and explore other countries.

Great programme, but all the better for editing down what must really just be a succession of interminable bus journeys broken up by some amazing sights and experiences.

I did think that. I read an interview with Dom & Lizzie where they basically said they didn't sleep properly, sometimes went 3/4 days without having a proper meal and the majority of the time is spent on buses or waiting for buses!

Nothing. A couple with Downs Syndrome make some decisions about their life together, but they don’t run anyone over along the way.

Watched it last night, brilliant stuff. The description of Hancock as both Peter Pandemic, and your sisters first boyfriend with a car had me in bits.

And Boris Johnson as ‘King Womble, seen here dressed as a giant lemon’

Urged me to get one Brooker’s books off the shelf, a collection of his Guardian articles from 07-08. Eerily relevant stuff in there about his worries that Boris Johnson might win the London mayoral election... So funny, I know he’s had huge success as a TV writer and good on him, I bet he’s absolutely minted now. I really miss hearing his own angry voice though, all of his Screenwipes and Newswipes are still on YouTube, they hold up pretty well.

White Lines. Unbelievably more fat fetched and stupid than gangs of London, but a delicious and enjoyable guilty pleasure none the less.

So it's in its 59th series and 'people' often complain that as it's such a tired format it should be put-down but last night's HIGNFY showed why it has to go on. Hislop's one word summary of Cummings's career/abilities to date:
    Fraud
should be shouted out loud every time one of those useless/spineless/moronic bags o'shyte who make up our present government get up and defend both what he and they either do, did do or didn't do.
The sight of that hateful talent vacuum Janet Street-Porter drowning in her quagmire of her own lack of abilities was wonderful/insight/relevance was wonderful.

Yes it was really rather good. I was slightly disappointed Charlie Brooker had presented it the week prior as I would’ve liked to have seen his take on it, but it was great none the less.

  30. In to season 2 of the Expanse.

Seemed like a good idea at the start and was looking forward to the conflict between earth and the mars colony
and it's turned into the usual alien invasion goo etc. I hope that clears up quickly and it gets more involved in the planetary tensions more. That said I'm still enjoying it and the cgi is really good

  31. We like this but what really annoys me about all these programmes now is you can only go on it if you have a sob story to tell.

First dates is the same. It must be on the entry form - must have a sad life event. I guess it sells. I get its part of life and the early series used to have its fair share but now every single person on these programmes has one.

A very good series (all four of them) that deserved a bigger audience. The writing and acting was strong throughout that used the conflict between the 'Belters' (their manner of speaking does take some getting used to) and everyone else as a fantastic dramatic device. The two stand out performances were Thomas Jane as the world(s) weary cop and the, fantastically named and 'striking', Shohreh Aghdashloo as the high ranking politico struggling to keep it all together. I always felt that the crew of the Canterbury, although central to the story, were its weakest part.

Just seen this on Who Want to be a Millionaire. Any Derek & Clive fans will get why I launched into the John Stitch ‘alright ****, start dancing’ sketch followed by the ‘my mum’ song.

Needless to say my partner is bemused and concerned at what’s just come out of my mouth.
