12 monkeys was great, 13 monkeys also good but 14 monkeys was a sell out to Disney.

Agree, they've nailed the levels of tension and suspense and there isn't any nonsense with funny jokey characters or loose plot. I'm 7 episodes in and am not sure what the end will be from about 10 different possibles.

By 15 Monkeys; Gone Bananas I felt that they’d pulled it back.

Sadly, not quite so true right now with treatment being postponed and delayed due to C-19, but a laugh nonetheless.

Finally got round to watching Tiger King and my initial reaction was meh...it was ok not in the same league as Making A Murderer. I genuinely don't understand the hype.

Thankfully the first 2 episodes of season 2 of What We Do in the Shadows have dropped - really enjoyed them. - apparently Mark Hamill makes a guest appearance in one of the upcoming episodes.

Started rewatching Scrubs from the start, always good fun.

Not sure whether to start Ozark, I was one of the few who thought Breaking Bad was ok which is why I'm not interested in Better Call Saul.

Saving up the last season of Homeland so I can binge watch that.

Might rewatch The Newsroom - first 2 seasons only.

The Expanse is on the list.

    God I miss football.

Watching Spooks on iPlayer. Didn't see it when it was first on the BBC but am loving it. Currently on series five out of ten.

I know it's a fictional drama about MI5 but at the current time it does make you think about the priorities and secret machinations of the government!

    Better Call Saul finale:

So, I remember that scene from Breaking Bad, but didn't remember the actual content/names that Saul mentions, but it sounds remarkably like it follows on very closely from the events of the BCS finale.

I think season 6 is when we will start to see the two shows collide somewhat. I'm also hoping some real time is dedicated to Saul's new life as Gene from after Breaking Bad, after 5 years of drip fed teases.

I figured marty and wendy were not getting bumped, so that was the only outcome really. Sometimes watching a show with half an episode left and loads to get in you know its either going to be a cliff hanger for the next series or you can figure out an abrupt ending.

Ben also isn't dead imo, although the writers have left it open to go either way. The clean up guy who worked for Helen will have been instructed by the cartel to send Ben to Mexico and brought a body bag back from there saying it was him. You didn't see him get killed and they didnt check the body was him.

Cartel kids were sent to Helen to give her peace of mind to walk into her killing.

Wow, I know that originally when they introduced Saul into BB, that he was only written in to 3 episodes and only later on expanded his role. But to write that scene in BB and link it to a prequel show that hadn't yet been written was very clever.

Having finished watching series 5, I don't think I could watch the early series again because they were slow and sedate compared to this one.

Currently watching something called "Normal People" and I am 4 episodes into a mini binge watch. It can be downloaded on i player.

Well worth a watch so far IMO! I'll probably watch another 2 or 3 episodes tomorrow.

Afterlife Series Two will be enjoyable to anyone who liked the first series. Some great moments.

And some not so great. Ricky Gervais has a tendency toward gratuitous crudity (believe me I like a bit of bad language) and it’s a bit tedious at times. The Paul Kaye therapist character could be written out with no loss. As a satire on men’s behaviour it’s having its cake and eating it, which is how the writing works.

The other people around Tony are often vulgar, but they are Ricky’s words.

Brilliant. The ecosystem idea involving Mac and Frank ‘picking up the scraps’ had me in stitches.

I enjoyed the first season, but thought the second was a bit rubbish. Agree with all your points, he just goes for cheap laughs and I thought it was a bit lazy. It felt like every episode was just trying to make you cry, rather than anything else.

    Gangs of London was great.

Bit far fetched at times but a nice little watch. Beautifully shot as well.

  25. But all redeemed by having Sufjan Stevens on the soundtrack. Bin Paul Kaye. And the twatty talent agent (the 'Night of 1000 Stars' was particularly cringe inducing.) But Joe Wilkinson and Roisin Conaty were unexpectedly good.

I thought the second season of After Life was actually funnier overall, but I agree the therapist was wearing very thin.

I think it should've ended after 1 season. Now it's a slow procession around the same settings every week. Some touching moments, unnecessary c bombs and a very tacked on will they/ won't they with the nurse.

It's easy viewing but it's all a bit meh.

I watched the first two episodes of S2 last night, S1 was good and I think as with most Ricky Gervais you will get a good dose of a 'shock' factor which sometimes works and other times is too cliché. So far in S2 I agree with Moog, I'll watch the remainder the series over the course of the next few days.

  32. Peter Mullan is exceptional as the hillbilly Jacob Snell. I knew him from Ken Loach films, but didn't realise he was also Yaxley in the Harry Potter films.

I was very disappointed with Afterlife two, as has been said the therapist is absolutely farcical, I know it’s entertainment but that’s straight out of something from Harry Enfield or Hale and Pace, not a thought provoking comedy drama. I’d probably find it entertaining in the right setting, but it was just jarring. Also not diminishing how bad grief can be, but it did get a bit tiresome how he constantly bleeted on about having the perfect marriage, which coincidentally every second of was filmed. One pretty daft thing that annoyed me as well was the dog poo bin, it seemed like a desperate attempt to shoe horn a joke in at all costs... and the a segue into how he should reconsider his relationship with the care home woman, except the bin did genuinely look exactly like a post box which would never happen, so it just seemed very desperate to me.

On another note I watched 6 episodes of Devs last night, it’s very very good.
