Watford Fc Kit - Kelme

Apparently Watford have signed new multi-million pound kit sponsorship deal and will be moving away from Adidas next season.

 

Interesting; I hope we're past the days of some no-mark, invented or sports-washing PR front company providing us with some monstrosity, then again the Pozzos did sign us up to a deal with an insolvent company with no history in the sport, or really any sport, just a few short years ago. I'd be pretty happy with Umbro, and nowadays Macron are fairly decent too. I can't see it being Nike for obvious reasons, and we've had Puma before. We might stand a chance of getting a kit that's actually designed for us this time around; who knows?

Word of mouth. I’ve not seen it posted on The Athletic, unlike Cassetti. I’ve just checked and cannot see it there.

That would be strikingly tinpot; I'd be surprised if they had the money, but then, that hasn't necessarily been an impediment for our suppliers up to now!

 

If true, I noted on the Kelme website link they have the sponsorship rights for many of the cr&ppy Spanish Secunda division clubs.

Says a lot.

However they do have Deportivo who I have a soft spot for. Remember watching them tear Arsenal apart in the Champions League some time in the early 00's & now they are languishing in the 2nd Division. That will no doubt be us soon enough.

Always liked their regal looking badge too.

Going from Adidas to Kelme seems like a huge step down, but if they're paying more money then who cares!

 

And that’s what it will be about. Sponsorship and kit deals go to the highest bidder these days - and the clubs will peddle the line about somehow the brands are in line with our ethos our some other nonsense.

It was good to have a recognised manufacturer - but the Adidas kits to me have always been a bit of a half-arsed effort by a brand that will put 99% of their creative resources into their bigger clients - which is understandable really.

Kelme did some great Spanish kits in the 90’s. And anyway, I’m too old for kits these days and think they are for the younger generations to wear - give me a striped scarf and I’m happy.

Also be aware that the Kelme rumour has come exclusively from that HollyPaul guy on Twitter (the one Deeney fell out with over a bar tab...) - He has a bit of a history for trying to tweet ‘exclusives’ which turns out to be nonsense and deletes the tweets.

EDIT: I’ve just looked at their website. Christ how the quality of their stuff has fallen. It’s like the Spanish Sondico. Stuff you’d pick up for 3 for £10 at Sports Direct.

 

Which is a sensible price for a garish nylon t-shirt infested with advertisments.

 

TBF I don't get the lack of love for 'Happy Egg' they're a local, successful, business (presumably paying UK taxes - unlike the usual overseas gambling companies). Plus they could be instrumental in producing a 3rd kit like those Spanish beer/broccoli ones.

 

I had Kelme boots when I played in the 90’s. Top boot and way better than Puma Kings. Absolutely fantastic kangaroo leather and super comfy. Same quality as Valsport. Dunno about their kits

If it leads to more transfer money, they can make the official kit a kilt and a sports bra for all I care.

This isn’t a fashion show, it’s a sport. As long as the players are sufficiently covered and easily identifiable, then job done.

Whilst I don't want a dog pawprint on our shirt, if this story is true, we can expect something truly bespoke next season. No more identikits.
