Lots of Watford players who left us in disappointment had to slum it at QPR afterwards, didn’t they?

Remember Lee Cook in the early 2000s, he was a QPR fan and was desperate to move to them. Every time he lined up against us he had a mare if I recall correctly.

Steve Palmer was one (clearly not relevant to this thread!)

The abuse fans gave clearly got to Cook. He was a decent player. Not sure his career was as good as it could or should have been but being honest, I'm not bothered enough to Google him.

Always thought he was quite underrated. Played a decent part in getting us promoted yet pretty much forgotten.

Has Layun been mentioned? I actually quite liked him but he was definitely not suited to The Championship. I thought he would do well in the Premier League. He scored at Everton and we got rid of him!!

Colin Foster made defending look very simple during the short time he was with us and Gary Penrice was a great finisher in his first spell, especially in one-on-ones with the keeper. The rest were forgettable.

I wonder if Layun moving on was more down to him than the club. Checking his career history shows that apart from Club America he didn't stay anywhere for long. I'd also say he went on to better things after leaving us albeit breifly. I thought he got some unfair stick with us and like you I thought he'd do well in the Premier League.

I remember the name and the incident as when it happened I remember it was reported as a “former Watford player” however what I didn’t remember was the exact extent of “Watford player” he had...basically his Watford career was under 45mins:

On 18 January 2008, he joined Championship side Watford on a month's loan, with a view to a permanent deal.[12] Watford manager Aidy Boothroyd had previously been interested in signing Davenport when he was at Tottenham,[13] and he was to provide cover for Danny Shittu whilst he was at the African Cup of Nations.[12] Davenport made his debut against Charlton Athletic on 19 January 2008, but had to be substituted before half-time after a collision with teammate Darius Henderson.[14] He was stretchered off and taken to hospital, where he spent a number of days and was diagnosed with a fracture to a bone in his neck. His injury meant the loan deal was cancelled.[15][16]

Lee Cook remainded me of David Conolly and Harry Forrester. And there has been two loan players from Newcastle; first one scored four goals in 7-4 win over Burnley(?) and the second one was a more recent young striker who was not a big success on or off the field. Can`t remember their names though.

Actually managed 25 games for us on loan from Southampton, and was pretty decent scoring 10 goals. Despite that, I'd completely forgotten about him. Not quite sure how I remembered him again either.
