Paul Mayo, I don't remember much about him other than he was a left back, had a long throw and he was a Patrick Kielty look-a-like. One of Lewington's signings.

Had a long throw but then didn’t take any throw ins

    Has Tom Aldred been mentioned?

Came from Carlisle - never played.

Abiding memory of Mayo is him being obviously scared of an opposition player at the Den. Think it was Dennis Wise but even still, it was embarrassing.

IIRC he came with a repuation as a set peice specialist but was never allowed to take a free kick or penalty.

I may be wrong, but I’m quite sure at that time we had a well established routine involving Neil Cox smashing the ball into the wall, or miles over the bar. It would have been a shame to break that up.

I think it was just his mega long throws that he was famous for. As I recall his passing and crossing was appalling. Terrible player.

How about Gerald Lavin we sold him to Millwall for 400k in recompense for then selling us Moralee for the same a year or so earlier?

You're not wrong! That was our set peice routine every week.

Didn't we have the USA goalie from the World Cup in 1994 who played one game?

What about the 2 Perry's - Digweed and Suckling.

Just shows we did have bad goalkeepers in the past as much as we have had some great ones.

Tony Meola. Mentioned earlier in this thread I think.

How many remember Steve Morrow making 9 appearances for us in 1991, 29 years ago!

I try to forget most of the early nineties, players and results. It was a pretty miserable period of our history

WillisWasTheWorst Its making less grammar mistake's thats important

That’s true but the fans (particularly the away fans) were actually really close to the players at that time, largely because of the terrible way in which the club was being run by Petchey.

I think he got replaced by Darlington. Pointless answer?

Hazan, signed by GT late in the 98-99 season. Rocket Ronny said apparently "He could play in the Premiership". Bonnot played more games the next season iirc. Think Hazan just took off and left.

    Brice Dja Djédjé.

I think Hazan went back to Israel for “personal reasons”. Scored one goal i think when we won 4-1 at swindon

You do not rc. Hazan played 32 games that season against Bonnot’s 12 in the Premier League. Plus Alon turned out in the great game at St Andrews and scored in the sudden death panelty shootout. Qualifies as a Watford legend just for that.

    Hey! What's wrong with you?
Guess you had to google it then UEA.
Thought it was Wright, Smart and Ngonge who were signed that summer, not Alon as well. Stand corrected.
Onion said he had to leave for personal reasons.
What is a Watford legend UEA? Xavier Gravelaine is a ledge is he?

Has had a decent career, still only 27 played about 4 games for us
Anyone think he could have been good for us? Obviously he was young when at Watford but a decent Championship player

Never should have sold him IMO, I reckon he would be a regular in our current team if he was still with us.

I seem to remember you saying something totally opposite to that! Decent scoring record in The Championship but you do wonder why nobody has taken him to the Premier League?

    Alexandre Bonnot
Midfielder who apparently played for us 16 times between 98-01 according to Wikipedia, even if the Wikipedia page on him his a little sketchy to say the least!
I went to alot of games around this time but tbh this guy must have escaped me

Can anyone refresh me with anything memorable about him??

I guess all these random midfielders were to keep Johnson and Hyde on their toes?

There was a Belgium chap too - Adrain Bakali

Was decent - played in the famous 2-1 win v Tranmere when we had Johnno and Smart sent off. Went to QPR after us I think
